This house is located on a private peninsula with the beautiful turquoise Sea of Abaco on both sides of the home. The views are breathtaking from every angle. There is a private beach just a few footsteps from the front door, where you can swim or snorkel and the nearby coral reefs. You may even spot a dolphin or two! Or you can lounge or take a dip in your own private pool, the choice is yours.
The Abaco islands have so much to offer. We highly recommend renting a boat so you can island hop and discover all the beautiful surrounding beaches, islands, restaurants, bars and local shops. Alternatively, you can catch a ferry which is conveniently located within a 5 minute walk from Hibiscus House. The ferry's are safe and reliable and run on schedule.
We look forward to welcoming you to this paradise we are lucky enough to call home.
My husband and I have travelled the world and finally settled in this beautiful paradise, called Abaco.
Penny Vaughan purchased this house in 2000
After hurricane Floyd, our house was very badly damaged, so repair was necessary. We had a plot of land next door and decided to build two rental homes...we must have been mad to do all three at the same time! its turned out brilliantly and we love renting Palm and Hibiscus as we meet so many interesting people.
Come and see for yourselves!
A few highlights:
360 degree stunning views
Perfect sunset spot from the private beach
Private beach only a few footsteps away
Discover the highlights of island living
Explore surrounding beautiful sandy beaches and turquoise water by boat or ferry
Beautiful marine parks for snorkeling nearby
Restaurants, bars, and downtown is only a 5-10 minute drive away
We also live very close by in case you need anything, we look forward to welcoming you!
This is a solid choice for a first visit to the Abacos. Being on the "mainland" was a good jumping off point to explore the other Cays. We had a rental boat that we kept all week at the dock, and also had a car which is good because the property is 1.5 miles out the eastern shore.
House was nice and clean. Views out both sides are beautiful. As noted above, we used the dock and the pool most afternoons. Nice little beach area across the road with shallow shoal and crystal clear water out for a 100 yards. Kitchen had everything you would need. Bedrooms were nice with the poolside room being the master. TV and internet worked good the entire time, only one outage (when we were there - because we were on the water most of the time). Plenty of beach towels and a cooler.
No real negatives that impacted our trip, couple of small items need some touch up, but I shared with owner and they were appreciative. Overall great experience and we would stay here again.
Short & sweet. Vacation of a lifetime and this place was amazing to stay at! Thank you!!!
Sorry for the delay in sending a review but we are still luxuriating in the wonderful feelings generated by our stay at Hibiscus House. We were there to celebrate my sister and my brother-in-laws 50TH wedding anniversary and Hibiscus House with its georgous views made it a truly memorable event. The boat dock was a real plus as it was easy for us to revisit old haunts via the 26' Twin Vee from Rainbow Rentals.
The few minor glitches we encountered with the kitchen facilities are almost not worth mentioning. I discussed them with you prior to our departure and I've no doubt they will be addressed quickly.
I wish to express the true pleasure we experienced at Hibiscus House and, like MacArthur, promise we shall return.

Spent 9 days with all three sons and families in Hibiscus House for Christmas 2015. Very clean and well appointed and convenient to all the facilities in Marsh Harbor. Nice swimming pool and gorgeous vistas with a wonderful through breeze. I miss it all ready,
This is a very beautiful home located on the Sea of Abaco, facing north and south, with waterfrontage on the front and back of the house. It is in an excellent location in the Bahamas. The house is decorated beautifully in Bahamian colors, with the top floor being a large, open living room, dining room and kitchen. The bottom floor is three bedrooms, each with their own private baths (very good) and a small laundry area. The bedrooms all have spacious closets, but there were NO clothes hangars. The interior staircase is non standard with a unmarked drop off on the first step going down from the second floor. Colorful strips of tape or paint would help individuals see the large difference in this step. The house has lots of ceiling fans and a terrific airconditioner! The ceilings are all wood, top and bottom floors and the flooring is all tile. The dining table will accomodate 8 people to sit for dining. There are large decks on the South side of the house, top and bottom floors. The bottom deck has an extremely nice, fresh water pool. When we arrived, there were not enough chairs for our party of 6 to sit on both decks. We alerted the caretaker, Ray, who responded immediately bringing more chairs. Having Ray close by was a tremendous advantage to this house. He was always available and willing to accommodate our every need. The house does have exceptional internet coverage which was a big plus to our group. Dockage for your boat and other water toys is located just a short stroll from the home, very convenient. You do NOT have to walk down stairs to the water as so many of the homes in this area and the docks are every large accomodating larger boats.
Also, when we arrived at the house, our party of 6 adults, we found only 1 towel per person in the baths, one beach towel per person and two kitchen towels. We appreciated the beach towels, but also would have appreciated more towels for the baths and kitchen. We managed. We enjoy going out on the water each day to catch our fish and lobster for supper, thus cooking our own meals. The kitchen was totally inadequte for us to prepare large meals. Items needed in the Kitchen include, a 1 cup measuring cup, measuring spoons, Rubber spatula, turning fork, plastic storage containers, mixing and serving bowls (maybe corning ware bowls), more plates (only 7 plates in house), baking pans and cookie sheets (Ray did bring us 2 baking pans), Kitchen knives (the ones at the house are well past thei
We had the best time at this property. We have stayed many times in Marsh Harbor but this location had the best views and all the perks to make it a great vacation spot. After boating all day your able to come back to the house for a relaxing swim in your own pool. Everything that you need to make this home feel like your at home is there. We even lost power for about an hour and the home has a back up generator so you never even noticed it. We look forward to many more stays here in the future.
Located on exclusive Eastern Shores and convenient to local shops and restaurants, these new properties are built to a very high standard. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, the pool is outdoors on the decking and multi level decks overlook breathtaking views of the sea and cays beyond. Enjoy the beautiful sunsets or just gaze at the stars. A great place for tanning or dining alfresco style. Only a few footsteps will bring you to a private beach. These are great homes for large groups and family reunions, executives, couples travelling together. Suggest car and/or boat rental.
