Owned mutually by 4 siblings who live in four different cities and 2 countries- but rest assured, we'll be there for all your needs! We all love to 'come home' periodically and relax and re-connect with our siblings. One sibling, Greg, lives nearby and he is the one that does all the bookings and deals with enquiries.
Greg Sumner purchased this house in 1975
Our parents built this charming home in 1975 for their retirement and upon their passing we all had such pleasant times and memories of Salt Spring that we decided we should allow others to experience the unique warmth and rest of Allison (our dear mother) House as it became known.
We have kept the name in her honor.
Amazing views of the Gulf Islands, Mt. Baker off in the horizon - the quiet serenity of living in the forest. Walking distance (2 miles) or a short car trip from the largest village (Ganges) on the island.
Our family, who live in different areas of the country came together on Salt Spring and had an amazing stay at Allison House. We would recommend it to anyone!
Enough space for up to 10 people I think. Very comfortable rooms. Not far from Ganges town (7mins drive). Really recommended!
We had a good time at Allison house, it is a nice old, spacious, well equipped house with magnificent views, particularly in the morning when the islands are covered with a gentle mist, looks like an oil painting. It is built on the side of a steep hill so seniors may find the slopes and steps a bit challenging. Very convenient for the Saturday market in Ganges, Mt. Maxwell and Ruckle Park.I was able to charge my Nissan Leaf using the driveway lights outlet and also at Moby's in Ganges where we lunched a couple of times. The only problem we had was opening the lock box, it took us a while to work out that only part of the front comes out. Greg was very helpful. I would recommend this house for extended families or for up to four couples.
We has such a great experience at the Allison House. Close and convenient for getting into town. The house had everything we needed and more! Lots of space and amazing views! Thanks so much for making our weekend so enjoyable!
Eight of us were delighted with Allison House. In addition to being well furnished, generously provisioned with all one could want in a kitchen and very clean, it had a special ambience. It somehow exuded a sense of happiness, good times shared and family love. This added something special to eight old friends getting together to celebrate a 70th birthday. With Ganges and its restaurants and shops just minutes away, we had the choice of eating out or staying in and enjoying Allison House and its beautiful views. Highly recommended for a large family or a group of friends, reasonably priced for such an excellent property, owner very helpful and prompt in answering questions.
Our large group of 7 loved the house. Perfect for sharing among friends and the views were just out of this world. Beautiful sunrise photos were taken and everyone can't wait to go back!
The island is approx. 22 miles long and 4-5 miles wide and named after the salt water springs at the islands' north end. Steeped in history, the ambiance is much like an English countryside with many local famous artists and skilled craftspeople holding open studio tours. A renowned local farmer's and craft market (not to be missed) every Saturday. Local vineyard tours & wine tasting as well as amazing goat cheeses and soap works- the list is endless!
The locals are almost too friendly!
