Salt Spring Island House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedroom- 2 Bath. Modern 3600 sq ft home SLEEPS 8 COMFORTABLY

Perched on a hillside with breathtaking views overlooking the Ganges Harbour Gulf Islands and Mt. Baker. A large sitting deck in the trees provides a gathering place for meals or just an afternoon of lounging in the sun. This home is extremely private in a quiet family neighborhood and we discourage batchlourette or stag parties. This house provides spacious privacy for all and is a cozy home for families. Our family recently re-modeled it featuring new luxury beds and linens; comfy modern Livingroom furnishings and all new appliances. The main floor ( 1800 sq. ft.) has a well stocked kitchen for you foodies & a BBQ on the portch outside. The Master Bedroom has a luxury KING BED and en-suite bath. Draw a bubble bath in Allison's claw-foot tub on a private deck with an ocean view. A spacious sunken living room: comfy seating for 8 w/cable t.v., high speed wifi throughout, dark hardwood floors with some carpets. Three bedrooms upstairs (2 Queen Rooms, 1 with Twin Beds) & 3Pc. bathroom upstairs. Ocean views from every room. Sleeps up to 8 comfortably. We can supply a queen air bed and linens for free for more beds. For more room, we have an unadvertised 5th bedroom in the lower level. This suite has a brand new Queen bed for guests 9 &10 and we charge an additional cleaning fee of $75. This is a self contained level which has a 3 pc bathroom and a spacious sunroom with million dollar views as well.

About Greg Sumner

Owned mutually by 4 siblings who live in four different cities and 2 countries- but rest assured, we'll be there for all your needs! We all love to 'come home' periodically and relax and re-connect with our siblings. One sibling, Greg, lives nearby and he is the one that does all the bookings and deals with enquiries.

Greg Sumner purchased this house in 1975

Why Greg Sumner chose British Columbia Gulf Islands

Our parents built this charming home in 1975 for their retirement and upon their passing we all had such pleasant times and memories of Salt Spring that we decided we should allow others to experience the unique warmth and rest of Allison (our dear mother) House as it became known.

We have kept the name in her honor.

What makes this house unique

Amazing views of the Gulf Islands, Mt. Baker off in the horizon - the quiet serenity of living in the forest. Walking distance (2 miles) or a short car trip from the largest village (Ganges) on the island.

We had a good time at Allison house, it is a nice old, spacious, well equipped house with magnificent views, particularly in the morning when the islands are covered with a gentle mist, looks like an oil painting. It is built on the side of a steep hill so seniors may find the slopes and steps a bit challenging. Very convenient for the Saturday market in Ganges, Mt. Maxwell and Ruckle Park.I was able to charge my Nissan Leaf using the driveway lights outlet and also at Moby's in Ganges where we lunched a couple of times. The only problem we had was opening the lock box, it took us a while to work out that only part of the front comes out. Greg was very helpful. I would recommend this house for extended families or for up to four couples.

Beautiful well equipped, welcoming house and a great view

  • 5 of 5

Eight of us were delighted with Allison House. In addition to being well furnished, generously provisioned with all one could want in a kitchen and very clean, it had a special ambience. It somehow exuded a sense of happiness, good times shared and family love. This added something special to eight old friends getting together to celebrate a 70th birthday. With Ganges and its restaurants and shops just minutes away, we had the choice of eating out or staying in and enjoying Allison House and its beautiful views. Highly recommended for a large family or a group of friends, reasonably priced for such an excellent property, owner very helpful and prompt in answering questions.

Owner's Response: Thankyou Laura - we are so glad all your lady friends enjoyed all the house had to offer. This is exactly what we want to have it used for - relaxing 'hassle free' gatherings with friends and family. Our family did that for 35 yrs and enjoy so many memories. Come again. Owner's Response: Thank you Susan - so glad your group felt comfortable in our roomy house. Yes, the sunrises are amazing from this high of a vantage point - every morning is a different canvas. I commend you for getting up so early (6:00 am 'ish) when you're there to relax. Come again - we'll keep the sunrises coming for you :) Greg. - on behalf of the Sumner siblings

The island is approx. 22 miles long and 4-5 miles wide and named after the salt water springs at the islands' north end. Steeped in history, the ambiance is much like an English countryside with many local famous artists and skilled craftspeople holding open studio tours. A renowned local farmer's and craft market (not to be missed) every Saturday. Local vineyard tours & wine tasting as well as amazing goat cheeses and soap works- the list is endless!

The locals are almost too friendly!

Sorry but because this is a family home, we deter any large party groups such as stagettes or bachlorettes. Our neighbors are nearby through the woods and appreciate the peace and quiet.
