Pine Knoll Shores, Central Coast, Coastal, North Carolina, USA (on the Beautiful Crystal Coast of North Carolina)
We purchased our place at the beach in 1988. We used to live in Jacksonville, NC and came to the beach frequently. Even though we moved to Virginia, we always wanted to be able to go to the beach and do it whenever we felt like it. That is why we bought here.
We have tried to make our beach home a pleasant and relaxing place to be in. Please e-mail us with any questions that you may have. If you visit the Southern Outer banks (SOBX), we are sure that you will enjoy it and look forward to vacationing here again.
Barbara or John O'Leary purchased this condo in 1988
The towns of North Carolina’s Crystal Coast have a charm all their own, and something to offer everyone.
Our 'little piece of heaven' is located in the Southern Outer Banks, in the town of Pine Knoll Shores. Its location in between Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle offers vacationers the unspoiled beauty of the pristine beaches while still being in close proximity to an array of boating and fishing activities, shopping, and dining in restaurants specializing in fresh local seafood.
The rich history of the area is evident whether you are strolling the streets of Beaufort, the third oldest city in North Carolina, exploring the grounds of Fort Macon National Park or scuba diving the Graveyard of the Atlantic in search of Blackbeard's famous ship 'Queen Anne's Revenge'.
Our three bedroom, 2-1/2 bath unit offers you everything you need for a perfect family vacation get-a-way. Ocean Glen is a small, quiet, 38 unit complex located on the barrier island of Bogue Banks. It is nestled in the maritime forest right next to the 200 acres of the Theodore Roosevelt Natural Preserve. The beach is wide and uncrowded. It has a friendly, family atmosphere. You can meet and mingle with the other Ocean Glen vacationers or maintain your privacy.
Take a day to explore the surrounding areas, the nearby historic town of Beaufort, Morehead City and the charming seaside community of Swansboro. Enjoy discovering the area with numerous shops, restaurants and other attractions that are just a quick bike ride away.
Many of our renters have commented on how lovely our place is. The Master Bedroom has a full private bath, king-size bed and balcony with a wonderful view of the beach, ocean and the Theodore Roosevelt Preserve. At night you can see the Cape Lookout Lighthouse flashing in the distance. There are two other bedrooms - one with a trundle bed that opens into a king size bed, and the other with a queen. These rooms share the 2nd full bath. Downstairs there is a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, sunroom, large living room, plus a half bath. Since the beach faces the south, you can relax and enjoy yourself on the deck and watch spectacular sunrises and/or sunsets. You will see lots of pelicans flying in formation, egrets and often times you will see porpoises off shore.
Ocean Glen is not off the beaten path. There are restaurants within a mile in Salter Path. There are also amusements such as (miniature golf, bumper boats and go carts), shops, kayaking, para sailing, jet-skiing, gas station, library, and post office. Also, the North Carolina Aquarium is only two miles from the condo, located in the Theodore Roosevelt Preserve on the bay side of the island. They offer varied activities all year round plus walking nature trails.
Your condo was comfortable, clean and so nice to be close to the beach. Your beach was so private, out entire family loved the area!
2nd time staying at this propety, love the location, being only seconds from the beach. My daughter and her famliy have such a great time staying on the beach. The grandkids also love the pool, plus there are other activities near by to entertain the grandkids when they need a break from the surf. Already looking to book again for next year. Would definitely recommend this loction to family and friends.
We spent a week here and found it really comfortable. The owner was prompt and the property manager helpful.
It is steps to the beach and the pictures do not do justice for the gorgeous views in the morning. Sitting in the sun room and hearing the waves was relaxing and calming. Having the living room, sun room and bedrooms on diferrent levels allowed us to have our own corner when we were in house.
Kitchen is well equipped and we did not feel we needed anything.
Would love to be there again.
We decided two weeks before our dates we wanted to go to the beach, knowing all the good places would be gone. Found 2 steps to the Beach and were immensely surprised and pleased! Well equipped, literally about 30 steps from front door to beach, not crowded, comfy place and not your typical generic beach rental.
Would stay here again. Owner is friendly and prompt. Well equipped for my family's needs.
This unit will delight all your senses. The numerous mirrors reflect light and make the town house seem much bigger. The sound of the surf can be heard from the sun-room and master bedroom. A fine collection of antique furnishings adds to the feeling of luxury and provided lots of conversation. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped.
The only thing we didn't like about this property was the vast number of stairs. There is a long flight of stairs from the community deck to the beach. In the unit itself you have to climb over 40 stairs to get from the parking entrance to the top floor bedrooms. We would not recommend this unit to people who are elderly or have health issues.
Check in was very smooth and easy process! We were amazed at how clean the entire place was...this is very important to us! Literally as close to the ocean as you can be without being oceanfront. The pool allowed us to extend our vacation on days when the surf was rough. Appliances seemed brand new, and while many may say the décor is "different" we found it to be an amazing conversation piece on many nights....and thought it was great! The beds were soooooo comfortable and we loved the water pressure from the showers. The only downfall we saw was the lack of a pan in order to cook a pizza or to cook French fries/chicken nuggets on and the lack of a strainer for draining water for pasta....but these are inexpensive items that I am sure were just an oversight. Truly this condo is very clean, very comfortable, steps from the beach, and has great owners who communicate well throughout the entire process. We are already talking about "same time same place" for next year. I would highly recommend to anyone! What was really great is we made new friends during our stay who we now keep in contact with....again, this is a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it!
