Girona, things to do in the city: Girona is a charming small city located 100 km North of Barcelona and one of the richest cities in Spain. Girona has one of the most important mediaeval quarters in Spain, plenty of interesting historical buildings, one of the best-preserved old Jewish quarters in Europe and a magnificent Cathedral featuring the widest Gothic nave in the world with a breadth of 22 meters. The city also offers a vibrant shopping district with a combination of traditional goods and renowed international brands. The walking areas include plenty of cozy coffees and restaurants that offer a variety of culinary experiences. Girona is also well known for its cultural life. As well as a number of museums, the city has the most important autumn festival in Spain, “Temporada Alta”, offering three months of avant-garde international music, dance and theater. In addition, several jazz, classical, rock, flamenco, traditional or world music concerts are programmed during all the year.
Girona, things to do in the surroundings: Girona is well known to professional and amateur golfers. Only 22 kilometres from the city is the PGA Catalunya Resort, which since its opening in 1999 has quickly gained an impeccable international reputation and is currently ranked 2nd in Spain, 3rd in continental Europe and, most recently, among the 100 best golf courses in the world. As well, there are a further eight high-quality 18-hole golf courses available less than one hour's drive from the property. Girona is also a world famous destination for professional and amateur cyclists. Only a few minutes from Alemanys 5 there is also a vast forest with hundreds of signposted off-road mountain-bike routes which can take you all the way to the coast.
Girona, things to do in the region: Less than one hour's drive from the house you can reach the famous Costa Brava coastal region, with plenty of beaches and sailing ports, still offering some 'hidden gems' for visitors who seek them out. Small villages like Cadaqués, Begur or LLafranc have attracted artists such as Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró or Pablo Picasso and still inspire many contemporary artists. Between Girona and the Costa Brava is the Empordà, a region of countryside, with plenty of small charming medieval villages, as well as wheat and sunflower fields that bloom with poppies in spring, creating one of the most beautiful landscapes of Spain. Girona is also a renowned culinary destination. Home of exquisite “sea and mountain mixed” recipes, the city hosts “El Celler de Can Roca” ranked second best restaurant in the world. Other other Michelin starred restaurants like“Santa Pau” are less than one hour's drive from the property.

A rare gem
Rarely do you find a place that is so functional and so well designed in a part of a city that is as central to what makes the city special. Add to this a concierge to help with restaurants and local knowledge and you have a the key ingredients for a wonderful stay in Girona.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at El Badiu. It's in a great, 'old' part of Girona that is barely accessible to cars. I would consider the property architecturally significant in how the owner has rehabilitated a very old building in to a modern living space. So many details of the living space are really well thought out and executed.
fabulous apartment in the old quarter
We stayed for 3 nights, but wished it had been longer. The apartment was amazing. Beautifully crafted spaces within an old building. It felt as though we were truly living in the centre of Girona. Walking distance from everything but very private at the same time. Montse was extremely helpful in settling us in and making our stay so special. Highly recommended.
First choice in Girona
This apartment has it all - a magnificent locations, walking distance from everything, amenities to die for, a property manager who is helpful, considerate, and delightful. Highly recommended.
This place is phenomenal--must be seen to be believed.
It might be the most beautiful vacation apartment I've ever rented--it is perfection. Location is unbeatable, the decor and renovation of the space were done with exquisite taste and attention to detail, everything is comfortable, well thought out, luxurious but still functional. We were very happy here, great little cafe in the square right outside the door plus a short walk to all of Girona's sights and lots of great restaurants. The owner and property manager were outstanding in their communication and care.
Beautiful apartment steps from the old wall and cathedral
Amazing modern space within the old medieval part of town. Everything is perfect: views, location, bathrooms, beds, stocked kitchen, management, offered parking, comfortable furnishings, etc. I can't say enough positive things about the apartment. By far one of my best experiences. They were flexible about our check in time. Met us at the apartment and provided a lovely basket of healthy food, coffees and teas. Gave us information and a map about the city. Met us when we checked out.
Finding the apartment was a fun challenge made easier by directions including photos leading us to the apartment. Having a car was a challenge but we managed.
I whole heartedly recommend this place.
Stunning home- we will be back
Our kids are ready to sell our house and move to Girona. We have visited Girona many times over the past 20 years and this stay was the most special, because we were able to rent this beautiful home. It is stunning, great location, very clean, well-appointed with everything you might need. We will be back-
