Flagstaff is the perfect mountain getaway (7000ft elev), located just 2 hours north of Phoenix, with temperatures 25-35 degrees cooler than the valley. Flagstaff is a Beautiful area with plenty to do from shopping, dining and all the outdoor activities you could ever want.
What an exceptional home! There was 10 of us (2 families) who rented the home over New Years. This home had everything you could need/want. Pots, pans, dishes, crockpot, you name it, they had it! The home sits on the side of a hill and against the National Forest which was wonderful as there was snow on the ground when we were there so the kids had their own private (long)sledding hill (bring your own sleds). The views are 2nd to none! Beautiful front porch allowed us adults to sit and watch the children & dogs have a blast playing in the snow while taking in the beautiful scenery. Though there are homes around, there was a wonderful sense of privacy here. The yard is completely fenced which was great for the dogs however please be advised that though fenced, most of it is barbed wired so your four-legged family members can still escape!
Inside, the home is cozy. Great Master with a wonderful master bath. The home has 4 bedrooms & sleeps 8 comfortably in the bedrooms. This is a great-room floorplan so the kitchen is open to the living room. We all really liked that when we were inside. There is an eat-in Kitchen along with a formal dining area as well. The home is beautifully decorated . They had plenty of toys for the little ones and a Wii gaming system for the older kiddos. The ONLY drawbacks (for our size crew) that are worth mentioning ; we found the living room to be a bit cramped. We could not all be in there at the same time as it is on the smaller side and only seats 7. Also they have a small but lovely wood burning stove. And though they were gracious enough to supply us with wood, it was way too big to fit in the stove. We had to make a trip into town to purchase some that would fit as there was no way for us to make the logs smaller.
Do not hesitate to book this beauty. You will not be disappointed!
We absolutely loved staying at Mountain View Ranch!
The owner, Pamela, was very responsive and easy to work with. The home was stocked with most everything we needed. We were impressed by the DVD collection, wii games, and board games/duplos/Lincoln logs.
The home was spacious, comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. We brought our dogs with us and they settled in quickly as well. There were coyotes on the property at one point during the night and when we awoke in the morning, so we were cautious with the dog bathroom sessions and outdoor play at dawn/dusk, but that is expected when you are right up against the forest.
The views were amazing and the property was well maintained. We truly enjoyed our vacation and commented regularly how we felt like we were at home. We will recommend to friends and return in the future!
The views from this rental are beautiful. We loved looking at the San Francisco Peaks from sunrise to sunset. The location is quiet yet close to town. We had a group of 10 and found room for everyone. Kitchen was all set for most anything you would need to do. Living room is small, but we spread out throughout the kitchen dining area, porch & dining room to visit, play games & do puzzles. We were lucky enough to watch storms roll across the peaks one day and the stars were terrific. A fun long weekend for us all!
This was a lovely and spacious home tucked up against a large hill/small mountain with amazingly beautiful views of mountains and landscape all around. There are a lot of other homes nearby, but it still feels secluded because this home is set up on the hillside (higher than all the other houses) and because it is a very quiet area with great views. If you have kids, they'll enjoy seeing horses, sheep, and even the occasional cow on the drive up to the house and from the large wrap-around deck. The last half-mile of the drive up to the home is on very bumpy dirt road, so having a SUV is helpful (but I don't think it's absolutely necessary as long as you're careful). The entire home is quite spacious and can easily sleep 8 people. The kitchen is big with lots of counter space. There's a coffee maker, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, and plenty of dishes/pots/cookware. The entire home was clean and well-maintained. There is a large picnic bench outside near the grill if you'd like to eat outdoors, and there are several deck chairs out on the front deck with views of the mountains -- great for relaxing while our kids were napping.
Only two downsides/areas for improvement -- the mattress in the master bedroom is pretty bad & uncomfortable and needs to be replaced (there are large divots/depressions where you sleep with a large ridge in the middle ... gave both me and my husband bad back pain). Also, there are a lot of throw rugs and runners on top of the carpet -- I'm guessing these are to keep the carpet from getting dirty, but they can be a trip hazard for the elderly, toddlers, or anyone else who's a little unstable on their feet.
But all in all, it was a nice place to stay and we enjoyed our trip immensely. It's very close to several amazing hiking trailheads (including the Lockett Meadow Waterline Loop & Inner Basin Trails) and to the Sunset Crater Volcano & Wupatki National Monuments, which are a lot of fun to visit. It's peaceful, relaxing, and has beautiful scenery all around.
This was by far the best trip to Flagstaff our family has taken. The house was wonderful with a ton of space. We enjoyed eating outside and hiking in the Ntl Forest behind the house. The trip was perfect and I would love to stay at this location again.
We spent the weekend at this property during July of 2016. I am now firmly convinced that this avenue beats renting a motor home and/or owning my own place up north. We were able to house two families under one roof utilizing the luxuries of home without having to pack it all up the hill with us. We had our vehicles to run and play as we pleased, (snowbowl had a groupon for the ski lift) but also had a fun hill to explore by foot. It was a great, fun filled weekend. :) I have already recommended the property to a friend who would like to do a family getaway.
ATV/UTV/Dirt Bike riding.
