East Riverside House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom

Live like a local! I would like to welcome you to my home: a traditional New Orleans cottage in the heart of New Orleans,1/2 Block Off Magazine Street and the Garden District, five blocks from St. Charles Avenue for Mardi Gras parades, and street car transportation down to the French Quarter or Uptown.

You will have no need for a rental car...I actually enjoy walking more myself. You can walk everywhere in this beautiful historic area! Enjoy the smell of the blooming sweet olive trees or the magnolias. Or let the famous traditional New Orleans homes steal your heart.

This 850 square foot New Orleans camel back shotgun cottage is a two bedroom, one bathroom cottage. You will be surprised how spacious it is.

My home is within short walking distance of many coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, art galleries, clothing boutiques, food markets, and specialty shops on Magazine Street. This is where the locals go and you will truly get a feel for what New Orleans is all about.

My cottage has an open floor plan with plenty of light. The second bedroom is a loft-style room for adults to enjoy. Special features include hard wood floors, many windows, lovely front porch bench, high-tech security system, central A/C and heat, high ceilings, and adorable backyard patio area for outdoor entertaining.

I hope you will love my home as much as I do. I consider it a must stay when coming to New Orleans. You will not be disappointed!

About Allyson Seitzler

I am a California native that fell in love with New Orleans and moved here after the storm. I used to live in the house until I moved to Lakeview. The house is in a great location near Magazine Street a block from the Garden District, and is so unique that I wanted to share the experience with others.

My friends told me about VRBO so I've been offering my home to others who want to experience this great city of New Orleans.

Allyson Seitzler purchased this house in 2012

Why Allyson Seitzler chose Central City/Garden District

My home is a traditional two story camel back shotgun cottage two blocks from New Orleans' famous Garden District and five blocks from St. Charles Avenue. The master bedroom is located above the kitchen and there is a loft above the living room. If you truly want to experience New Orleans like the locals, this is the area to stay.

What makes this house unique

The property is very fun and unique. It was built in 1932 and has been slightly remodeled and updated within the last 10 years. It has an authentic and relaxing feel that is wonderful to enjoy after a day of touring around the City. You can stroll the Garden District streets a dusk and see how the local community enjoys this special part of America.

The house has a security system that is monitored 24/7 and is located in a safe neighborhood so you'll feel very secure. It has keyless entry so you'll never have to worry about forgetting your keys.

I have a sweet 40' 1080 HDTV, stereo, Blu-ray player, super fast WIFI, washer/dryer, central AC, back patio deck with built in seating, quaint front bench, and so much more.

Besides being a fantastically unique little cottage, you are two houses off one of the best parts of Magazine Street in New Orleans. You are steps from the Garden District, walking distance from the Lower Garden District, and walking distance from the Street Cars that can take you all over New Orleans, including the French Quarter, Uptown, and Audubon Park.

Perfect!

My girlfriends and I stayed at Allyson's place a few weeks ago and we had an amazing time! It was our first time in New Orleans and we would stay here again if we go back. Allyson's place was charming, cozy and clean. We were in a great location and pretty close to everything - 5 min ride to the bars and such. Allyson always responded right away and made sure we were all set for the trip. We were able to check-in a bit early and she even returned something my friend left! She's wonderful and so accommodating. It was an unforgettable trip and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Unique, charming, afforadable and clean with great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying in Allyson's charming, unique home during our family vacation in early August! We had a wonderful stay and loved returning to this home away from home to re-energize and take a break from the humidity! We found the home to be clean and comfortable with all the basic necessities. Allyson was very prompt with responding to any questions we had. Our daughters enjoyed having the loft as their private space during our stay. While there is only one bath and this is an historic home, the water pressure and temperature were fantastic. We appreciated the extra shelving provided in the bathroom which gave each of us our own space for toiletries. Location, Location, Location! This charming place is located just steps away from Magazine Street and just a few blocks from the St. Charles Streetcar line, convenient for exploring the French Quarter, Garden District or Tulane University! Magazine Street is loaded with wonderful shops and restaurants (Rum House, Dat Dog, Amici, Slim Goodies diner, or Charcoal's - just a few of our favorites). You will also find a pharmacy and grocer nearby. If you rent a car and want to venture a little farther we would recommend a visit to Bay St Louis, MS, an airboat ride out in the Jean Lafitte National Park or a hike along the Barataria Preserve Trails. So much fun! We would stay here again and recommend this home to friends/family!

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

I needed a place for my staff and I to extend our stay after we attended a conference in New Orleans. All the hotels were booked so we rented this home instead and it was perfect! The location is great and the house is very comfortable and clean. It's a nice little neighborhood and we felt very safe there. I would highly recommend this cottage. We accidentally set off the alarm and the owner was great about it. I was a bit worried about being able to figure out the alarm, but it is easy. The instructions left by the owner were very complete and helpful. We also appreciated the restaurant suggestions. I would definitely stay here again!

Adorable Home in Great Location just off Magazine Street

  • 4 of 5

This adorable shotgun house in the Upper Garden District is very well-appointed and looks as great as it does in the photos.

There are two comfortable beds and the loft bedroom at the back of the house is especially cute. My father complained that the sofa bed was quite uncomfortable but it wasn't until later that we discovered Allyson's notes in her renters' handbook about using the additional mattress on top.

The neighbourhood is safe and there are lots of good restaurants and interesting shops within short walking distance. We appreciated Allyson's tips on where to eat in her handbook as well.

We couldn't get the smart tv to work, despite Allyson's attempts to help us by text, and for which she was very apologetic about, but who needs tv when you're in New Orleans!?

Owner's Response: We installed a new Smart TV system for our guests and it just needed some refinement to get the Smart Apps working properly. I'm sorry it was bothersome for you, but glad you enjoyed New Orleans nonetheless! We now offer all major networks in HD, a free Hulu account, access to Netflix, and hundreds more apps on our HD Smart TV for those occasional rainy days.

Cute cottage in great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage! It is in a perfect location, just minutes from everything the city has to offer. We like to really experience a city when we visit -- not just focus on one location (i.e. The French Quarter), and we were able to easily access Audubon Park, City Park, Treme, and other areas. This cottage is fully equipped, great for families -- we have two teens -- because everyone is able to spread out comfortably. It is VERY clean and we appreciated having sugar and coffee filters for us in the pantry! It is nice to have a full kitchen (though we ate our way through town and didn't use it) and a washer and dryer. Parking was never a problem, the neighborhood is quiet and a great place to sleep away from the noise of the FQ.

The owner is very helpful and attentive. She obviously cares about her property and clients.Look in the drawer of the desk: she has a lot of brochures in there of things to do

We would definitely recommend this vrbo to anyone who asks. We also suggest that people see more of the city than just the French Quarter, because there is a lot more to see, and we found some awesome restaurants by reading about where the locals go. Cochon, Jacque-Imos's, Dooky Chase, and the French bakery on Magazine Street for breakfast (can't remember the name, but ate there twice!)
