Great location and view but some serious concerns!

4 adults stayed for a total of 4 nights. Rob made some suggestions which we enjoyed. The views from the apartment are amazing! The location was ideal, we were able to walk to locations of interest easily. The apartment was big and comfortable enough to serve as a base for exploring SF.

A few cons: Arriving at the apt we noticed a “cat odour” which was masked by the smell of an air freshener. Over the next few days it became more intensified, such a stench of cat urine that we needed to leave a few windows open and use the air purifier to get rid of the smell. We were told that no cats have ever been in the apartment therefore the smell from the 8 cats living on the 3rd floor must be wafting into the apt. We are 100% certain that the smell was not from the ferrell cats/raccoons as it was only noticeable upon entering the apartment.

Privacy – Rob and Laurie live on the 3rd floor of the home. No big deal, other than the night before we left Rob came to give us instructions on how to leave the apt, etc. A few minutes after he left, Laurie came down and had obviously been drinking. She began to tell us all about their domestic issues, etc which caused us all to become quite uncomfortable - not to mention it ruined our “mellow out after a long busy day” vibe. Also, a few times we wondered if the apartment had been entered while we were out. It was little things that had been moved. This was confirmed when on our last day we packed our bags and left everything ready to go. We left the apartment to go for breakfast and get some last minute souvenirs, not worrying about our things as we had the apartment until 11 AM. We returned at 1030 AM to find some of our luggage out on the front stoop not being watched by anyone! Rob was sitting on the couch and cleaning ladies were working away inside the apartment! Rob told us he had someone coming in early so he got the cleaners in early. At no point were we told that this would occur, nor were we asked if it was ok to move our belongings outside the apartment. To add insult to injury, we needed to use the bathroom before leaving for the airport and the cleaning ladies refused to let us use it. After reminding them that we had the place until 11 they got the nod from Rob to let us use it. Unbelievable!

Due to the invasion of privacy we can't in good conscience give it anything more than a 2 when combined with the stench of 8 cats. We discussed these issues with Rob and WON'T stay here again!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your input. My response..... 1. It would have been nice if you would have addressed any cat smell issues immediately rather than let them fester during your stay so I could have addressed them asap. I always ask guests as standard operating procedure within 24 hours of their stay if "everything is OK and if anything needs to be done for your comfort". It would have be considerate, polite, and professional on your part if you would have told me as soon as there was any issue so I could have immediately addressed it. Also as part of the original disclosure before you made your reservation that there were "cats around the building" and that if you had any sensitivities to stay somewhere else. 2. I asked you the night before when you would be exiting the unit so I could coordinate my cleaning crew. You said 10:30am!! So I had my cleaning crew come in at 10:30am. When I saw your luggage was still there, I moved 2 pieces off the beds so they could at least start making the beds. It would have been polite to receive a call or text that you were gong to be late leaving, so I could have delayed the work my crew was going to do. 3. Privacy. At no time was the unit entered into by myself or Laurie until 10:30am the dy of departure when you the guests said they were leaving. My general philosophy is that "you can not please everybody all the time" and just make myself available to do the best that one can all the times to make the experience in staying in this unit a great experience. 99% of guests have loved staying here with related 5 star reviews. Also since I am an avid VRBO user myself when traveling, I evaluate my unit based on my expectations as a VRBO renter. If there is ever a problem, I always address it immediately with the owner, rather than be a "hand grenade roller" later.

Oustanding apartment

We loved everything about this apartment.... it was so spacious and comfortable... a welcome retreat after all of our adventures. The location was great... within walking distance of shops and attractions.

Our host, Robert, could not have been more helpful - we had a slight car accident with a wooden post resulting in white paint scratched right down one side...... to our delight Robert managed to buff it all off - honestly it must have took him ages but the guy is so kind and helpful .... If you stay with him you will be well looked after.

Fabulous Views and Great Location :)

I took my sister and 2 niece's for a long weekend for her high school graduation gift. We were delighted when we arrived at the Apt. It was wonderful! Spacious so we could relax. The balcony had great views of the bay. The location is perfect! Walking distance to everything. Everything worked great in the Apt. (Internet & TV's were perfect) Fabulous water pressure in shower, and wonderful ice maker. The apt. had everything you would need.

Glassware, cookware, etc. Plenty of extra blankets, sheets & towels. We saw the parrots and humming birds on the balcony. Robert, the owner was a wonderful host. I would definitely return again someday! Thank you

Great view, location and host

We stayed here for a long weekend at the beginning of a drive down the PCH and we couldn't have picked a better spot in SF. The view speaks for itself. The property is half a block from the trolley line, a block from Ghirardelli Square and two blocks to the bay... can't ask for a better location! Rob was a very friendly host and gave us a ton of excellent recommendations for places to eat and drink nearby. I just hope this place is available the next time I visit SF!

Fabulous view of the bay!

We had a fabulous stay in San Franscisco. Very easy to get around the city from the centrality of the location. The balcony overlooking the bay was stunningly. We saw parrots and humming birds in the backyard while enjoying a panoramic view of the bay including Alcatraz! Thank you
