About Catherine Ross

My husband and I have lived about 10 miles from our cottage since 2001. My husband grew up in Dryden, NY and I fell in love with the water while growing up on Long Island. We are both graduates of Cornell University and we worth together in a family business in Ithaca. Neither of us have found a place that we would like to live more than our beautiful Finger Lakes region.

Catherine Ross purchased this house in 1978

Why Catherine Ross chose Cayuga Lake

Our lake home has been in our family for over 4 decades. Throughout that time family members have created and help maintain a vacation destination where people can enjoy each others' company while surrounded by beauty. Once a mostly seasonal cottage, our parents had an expansive addition built in 2000. They lived full time at this wonderful home until they decided to downsize in 2008. At that time my husband and I volunteered to maintain the home. We have lived just 10 miles from our cottage since 2001 and own a long standing business in Ithaca. We are thrilled that the option of offering vacation rentals helps us to keep this very special place in our family. After five years of vacation rental and enjoying countless glowing guest comments, I know many people feel the same way about our home.

What makes this house unique

This home holds wonderful memories for my family - holidays and summer get-togethers with all the cousins playing in the lake, fishing off the dock, adults relaxing, grilling a great meal to share, enjoying the heavenly sunsets, and making s'mores over a bonfire.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Each member of our party was EXTREMELY impressed with the property. We felt that the pictures posted on the website did not do justice to the beauty of the home.

Large, beautiful house and property on a scenic lake

  • 5 of 5

Six adults and five kids (ages 3-11) spent a week here. No rental we have stayed in anywhere came with such a completely equipped kitchen. The kids could not get enough of exploring the rooms, decks, stairs and paths outside as well as skipping stones on the beach. They probably spent as much time in the lake as they did in the house. We absolutely loved the screened porch with a table large enough for all of us to eat together. The rooms are large enough for everyone to spread out, and we enjoyed all of the waterfront activities as well. The owner has left information in every part of the house so that all of our questions were answered. Definitely a good experience on Cayuga Lake.

Fantastic family get together!

  • 5 of 5

My family came from all over the country to stay here and celebrate my mother's birthday. We could not have been more pleased! The house is beautiful, spacious and well-appointed with every last thing a guest could need. The owner was extremely helpful and responsive when we had questions. The lake view, deck and dock made for a gorgeous visit, and the large windows throughout made the visit special even when the weather did not cooperate. We hope to come back again sometime.

Great weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in your wonderful house and especially enjoyed the lovely sunset on the lake. Given the various sleeping arrangements, it was an ideal place to gather for a weekend with family and friends from out of town. The house was exactly as described and in tip-top condition. We instantly felt at home and would definitely come back!
