Kona Blue Hale is the perfect place to start your vacation in Paradise. Just drop off your bags and walk minutes away to Magic Sands Beach, one of the best all around beaches on Alii Drive. The property has been completely updated from top to bottom with all the amenities and convenience to evoke the spirit of Aloha. Kona Blue Hale is in a perfect location to enjoy all the activities the Big Island offers.
This property was just turned into a Vacation Rental in Aug. 2012. Unit is just over 1000 sq. feet with all floors in Travertine for a cool easy to maintain lifestyle. The kitchen cabinets, counters and refrigerator are brand new and the place was just painted and furnished from top to bottom.
There are 2 bedrooms including 1 King bed and the other bedroom with 1 Queen bed. Both bedrooms have nice Hawaiian style themes including dressers and nightstands. Both bedrooms have full size closets with plenty of room for everything you can bring with you on your vacation. The bathroom is full size with shower and bathtub and plenty of storage for towels. The kitchen has plenty of room to create a magical meal or just hanging out with Family or Friends.
The front yard has available parking for 2 vehicles.
The backyard has a great grassy area just to hang out, play games or just enjoy the property. There are also a couple fruit trees and always beautiful plumeria flowers falling off the trees.
We purchased this home in late 2011 as we fell in Love with The Big Island of Hawaii. After visiting all the Islands several times we decided it was finally time to add the home of our dreams on the Big Island. We just love Hawaii and look forward to spending as much time as possible in Kona. We hope you love it as much as we do!

This property is a Gem. We looked at over 100 homes via online and in person. Our objective was to find a property that had amazing Ocean Views and looked like a BEACH HOUSE. This is hard to find. Most homes look pretty basic and don't have the Beachy Feel. I hope you know what I mean by this. Out of every property we looked at this was the only one that we made an offer on. Once we finally got it and made the changes to the property we realized that we found something special. Anytime we mention this house and start to describe it to the local people they stop me after about one sentence and say that they know this property and how lucky we are to have it:)
Now we are able to share this with our potential guests which is a great feeling.
There are not too many places in the World where you can sit out in front and watch bikers, runners have 2 Beaches less than 6 blocks in either direction. These Beaches are also amazing....Magic Sands is one of the best boogie boarding beach with it's beautiful waves and local flare and Kahaluu is know for it's reef and snorkel. In addition, the neighbors are amazing and offer some great Hospitality if you get to know them. There is never a dull moment at the Kona Blue Hale property!
Roomy apartment with comfortable beds and lots of living space. Nice outdoor table and seating to eat meals outside. All basic accommodations provided, and quiet at night. Great location near nice beaches and far enough away from Kailua to be quiet and uncongested. Would love to stay there again. (next week, maybe??!!)
We enjoyed a relaxing 11 days at Kona Blue Hale. Easy walking to both Kahalu'u Beach Park and Magic Sands for terrific snorkeling and watching the surfers. Sunset viewing was best from one of the close Shoreline access points rather than the ground floor unit. Accommodation was certainly adequate and comfortable - with a little TLC, it would rate 5 stars. It was great to have beach chairs, boogie boards and towels available for use.
The apartment is really spacious and quite nice. But just so you know, there is no AC! (This is NOT mentioned in the About the Property section.) While this may not be an issue for some, the reality is that it was stuffy at night even with the provided fans running and windows open. We were surprised by this and had some uncomfortable nights.
The wifi was finicky--once taking 15 minutes to accept a connection, and you could not even sit on the front lanai and be connected while we were there. The owner had replied to one other email question but did not reply to an email about this issue.
Finally, just to be fair, to say this apartment has an "ocean view" is generous. When you are sitting on the lanai, or even standing for that matter, you have a pretty small slice of water visible through a break in the trees across the street.
There are many nice points about this property but knowing these things will avoid what someone once described as "anticipointment."
The four of us very much enjoyed the Kona Blue Hale and its proximity to two good beaches and the town. The apartment is very spacious, airy and clean. Thanks to Jeff for the great recommendations of beaches, restaurants and bike routes. Our last day was particularly special as the dolphins came to swim with us at 2-Steps Beach and we may not have returned there (after a failed first attempt), without the late checkout that Jeff allowed us, and Jeff's recommendation. Owners were very friendly and helpful, house was very spacious and the location was great! Very close to great beach and just a few miles outside of the congestion of town which we enjoyed. Would book this property again!
We stayed at Kona Blue Hale from February 1- February 21 of 2016. This was our second visit to the Big Island and the first time that we stayed in the Kona area. The location of Kona Blue Hale is just perfect. You are within walking distance of several beaches and we took advantage of that almost everyday. We liked it that we were not right in Kona but not so far away that it took more than a few minutes to drive there. The house itself was very clean and comfortable and had everything that we needed for our 3 weeks there. Loved having some spices and staples provided so that we didn't have to purchase too much stuff in order to prepare a meal. We used the charcoal grill quite a bit. Really enjoyed the table and chairs near the front door. We usually had our meals out there. The yard was very nice with all the flowers and, of course, the banana tree which was loaded with bananas. They were too high up for us to pick but I would have liked to try one! This rental does not have air conditioning but most times we were very comfortable with just the fans running.
We did most of our grocery shopping at Target and also the KTA store at the end of Alii Drive. We also enjoyed the Farmers Market in Kona and went several times each week...the avocados, mangos and papaya were a real treat. Our favorite places to dine were Huggos, Huggos on the Rocks, and the Kona Brewery. We also had a fun lunch at Bite Me. The owner, Jeff, is very easy to work with. I would absolutely recommend this rental to people and would stay there again if we return to the Island.

Watch Dolphins, Whales when in Season, golf, run, bike, hike or swim at all the local attractions just blocks away. You can schedule surf lessons or rent snorkel gear just a few blocks away. There is always something to do on Alii Dr.
