Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such a wonderful time staying at The Bob House. This house has such a warm happy feel! Thank you for making us feel so welcome and for thinking of every accommodation and the little touches; wine, jam, etc. we had gals from all over Oregon and Arizona, so this was the perfect place for us to relax between wine tasting and over eating at local restaurants.

Absolutely Awesome!

With love, Dea and the Gang!

Mixed Feelings

  • 3 of 5

My main feedback involves the cost/benefits of the property. I have rented many VRBO properties over the years, so I have experience in comparing both cost and amenities. FIrst of all, Holli was a delight during the rental process. I appreciated the bottle of wine and the jar of jam!! The property was indeed close to the sites in which we were interested. The house itself had plenty of space, but seemed a bit worn and "tired" in many ways. The curtains were shabby and hard to open without the rods falling down (loved the windows tho). The advertised grill was an old, tiny briquet type, which sat on the ground outside. The sliding glass door to the back yard would not open, and it became quite warm inside without air flow. Be aware there is a daycare next door, with comings and goings and children's voices (I love kids so that was ok). Parking was a challenge - there was a tiny spot along the side of the house, and we were encouraged to NOT park on the street. It was a miracle I didn't hit the neighbor's vehicles or the pole in between the properties. My bed was soft and uncomfortable, and some of the towels were worn and had bleach stains. There was an charge for "extra guests" (originally there were 6 of us, but 5 ended up coming) even tho the house was advertised to sleep more than that number. That's never happened to me before. No games for children, no cable movie stations, only a handful of DVD's and an unsatisfactory grill. My main thought at the end of the trip, was that I had significantly overpaid for our two nights stay.

Owner's Response: - We are so happy that you enjoyed your experience in booking and the extra love we provide to our guests.- We are also glad that you liked our new windows! The original 1948 windows were painted shut from previous owners and we replaced them last year. We are thrilled that we could provide windows that open! We would love to know which rod was falling down so that we could repair it. (We looked but could not find it) - We are sorry you found the grill to be "old". While it is 4 years old, it is a Webber charcoal grill as advertised. - As you stated, we were approachable to communications during your reservation process. This does not change during the rental. We make sure that everyone has easy access to us during their stay. We do wish you would have let us know there was a problem with the sliding glass door. We would have fixed it immediately. There are also 4 other windows and another door in the room that open. - This is a residential and commercial neighborhood and the daycare only operates during the week, school hours. - - Parking on the street is public. We only ask that our guests respect the elderly neighbors across the street as they asked for our guests not to park in front of their house as they are disabled. - The beds were purchased brand new a few years ago. We specifically purchased middle of the road firmness, since we have many guest requirements. We are sorry it did not meet your level of comfort. As for the towels, It is true that a few have bleach marks on them. We chose to not throw away really nice towels just because a guest got a little bleach on them. - Our rates compare to standard hotel rates for double occupancy, only we offer rates for quad (4) occupancy. The extra cost is for the cleaning for extra people and is as advertised. We do wish that you would have informed us of your reservation changes, so that we could have given you a refund. Again we make ourselves very accessible. - We offer a few DVD movies, games and books as well as a system that offers input for personal devices for movies and electronic games. We also provide a stereo with a CD player and CDs. This is all as advertised. - Again we are so sorry you were not happy with your experience. We always wish to provide an excellent space for our guests vacation memories. We try to make ourselves very available to provide the best service possible. Mick and Holli

The Bob House is the best place to stay downtown

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely fell in love with Bob House after our stay last month. In February, we came to town and stayed in the Ferris House, and it was wonderful, but on our return trip we had different sleeping needs. After how nice Mick and Holli were, and how great their home was, it seemed like a no-brainer to try them again.

Best decision we made. The Bob House has tons of room to spread out if you have a larger group coming into town. The location was ideal, being just a few minute walk from downtown, but far enough away from 3rd Street to be calm and serene.

I can only imagine how nice the backyard must be to lounge in during the summer, we were met with a steady rain during out trip, but it gave a great vibe to the home.
