A village colonial, built in 1870, our home is located in the Woods Hole Historical District, overlooking the harbor. It is a warm and comfortable home, casual, with original art and sturdy antiques. There are four spacious, newly-renovated bedrooms, air conditioned, three newly-renovated bathrooms and a modern, newly-built kitchen with Viking gas stove, Bosch dishwasher and Sub-zero refrigerator. The front of the house has lawn and gardens and a very large 3-season wrap-around porch, part screened, part open, and looks out at the harbor. The master bedroom, also newly-built, looks onto a large terrace, beyond which lies a lovely 34'x9' swimming pool with its own smaller terrace, gardens, and beautiful view of parkland and wooded hills. Adjacent to the larger terrace is a brand-new outdoor shower and hot tub, as well as a gas grill.
Long-time Massachusetts residents, we live full-time in Woods Hole, enjoying each and every season.
Anne Kent purchased this house in 1998
Years ago our family spent summers in Woods Hole as part of the scientific community. We fell in love with Woods Hole and when we finished teaching we couldn't bear to leave!
Unique benefits of this home and location are innumerable: walk to beach, village center and bike path; the house and gardens are lovely, the pool allows swimming from April through October, and the morning walk along the beautiful harbor to get that first cup of coffee at Pie in the Sky is such a pleasure!
We had a great time at this beautiful property. The house was spacious and the grounds and pool were awesome. We spent most of the time lounging by the pool and the patio. We walked into town to all of the shops and restaurants a few times a day. It was a really easy and pretty walk. We also could walk to the beach in town. We drove a few times to other Falmouth beaches, as well. Anne was very nice and easy to work with. She was near by and answered any questions we had or dropped off any little supplies needed.
The only drawback was that there was only 1 ac unit. We happened to be there for a very hot/humid week so that made the temperature uncomfortable. More AC units in the house would make it a perfect stay!
Being back home will take some getting used to. Your beautiful home and its surroundings, and the time we spent with kids and grandkids, can't be topped!! We hope your next visitors enjoy your wonderful home, and Woods Hole, as well as we did. Thanks, Anne. For us, the money was very, very well spent.

We booked this home last minute and felt we found exactly what we were looking for! The home is so charming and welcoming and so much space for everyone. We loved the layout and expecially loved the 3 beds in one room for the kids. The pool and hot tub were an added plus and the town was great! Walked everynight to a different restaurant and all were fantastic! We took the ferry a few times over to Marthas Vineyard for the day.....what a great location this home is in! We loved the beaches near by too....especially loved Old Silver Beach! We will definitely come back and will definitely try to get this home again. The owner is very nice and laid back...so we felt right at home!
Our family spent two wonderful weeks at this charming historic Woods Hole home in July. We loved the central location of the house. We were able to walk to the beach or into town. It was so close to everything that our 10 year old triplets were able to head out independently to the library, aquarium, and Buzzards Bay touch tank.
The house was very comfortable and well equipped. It was spacious and charmingly decorated. We especially appreciated the beautiful backyard where we were able to enjoy the evening breezes off the water while our children played in the heated pool. Anne, the owner, was extremely helpful, answered any and all questions, and even stayed with the kids one evening while my husband and I went out for an evening alone.
We have been traveling to the Cape from the D.C. area for four years. Anne's lovely home and the wonderful town of Woods Hole made this our best trip yet!
From the view of the harbor from the front porch to the pool out back, this was a wonderful vacation spot. You can walk to town (which we did, every morning, for treats from Pie in the Sky) and it's a short, pretty walk (even shorter bike ride -- and Anne provides the bikes!) to Stony Beach. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, and the house is set up so that a large family can find quiet spots to nap and read. Lots of bedrooms, lovely showers. Truly, it's a perfect "old Woods Hole" house (without the house itself being old!) For us, cocktails and appetizers on the patio as the sun set and our children splashed in the pool after a long day at the beach was heaven and then maybe a walk into town for ice cream (or a drink!) later in the evening. You will want to rent this house for the location, but you will enjoy your stay because of Anne's helpfulness and the amenities.
This house and the village of Woods Hole are the epitome of relaxation. I have never been in a house where there are so many places to go and experience peacefulness. For the times you want the sun, you can lounge around the pool on the beautiful patio. When you want to cool off, you either jump in the fabulous pool or move to a different lounge chair in the shady end of the pool terrace. Or, you can sit on one of the Adirondack chairs in the front yard and look at the boats in Eel Pond and watch the passersby. When you've had enough outdoors, you can move inside to the wraparound porch - either lying on the couch on the screen porch or lying on the swinging day bed on the outside porch - with a book and again looking at Eel Pond across the street. In the evenings, after either making our meal in the lovely kitchen or eating at one of the wonderful restaurants in the village, we could choose to either hang out on the porch or in the living room or cozy library, playing a board game at the table. The bedrooms are all beautifully set up and very comfortable. The outside shower and hot tub just add to the whole pampered experience. The beaches, the bike path, the stores and restaurants in the village of Woods Hole and FaImouth Center, just a short drive away, make this location an unbeatable treat. it is a beautiful house in a lovely area and I couldn't recommend it more highly.
Coffee shops, sandy beaches, tennis courts, a wonderful playground, churches, village shops, post office and library, and terrific restaurants are all within a five to ten-minute walk. Our immediate neighborhood, though, is almost country-like, peaceful and quiet. Best of both worlds!
In the southwest corner of Cape Cod, Woods Hole is near Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands. Much of Woods Hole centers around the enclosed harbor of Eel Pond. A drawbridge at the mouth of the harbor allows boats to enter and exit the harbor
Our village is the site of several famous marine science institutions, including Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the Marine Biological Laboratory, and the ferry between Cape Cod and the island of Martha's Vineyard, all accessible to visitors.
The local lighthouse (visitors welcome) at nearby Nobska Point has a view across the Nantucket Sound of Martha's Vineyard, and at its foot, a private sandy beach available for you to use. The Knob is another local destination: a rocky outcropping that overlooks beautiful sandy beaches in Buzzards Bay and Quisset Harbor, a Salt Pond bird sanctuary, and is open to visitors and their dogs.
The annual Falmouth Road Race brings world-class (and not) runners to Woods Hole in August each year
So, come to Cape Cod in New England, and enjoy a lovely Spring, Summer or Fall in our gorgeous and unique coastal village.
