We came with two kids in mid-winter, the three bedroom cozy layout was perfect. The backyard is sloping with a fantastic mountain view so it was a great place for gentle sledding. Front yard is fine for playing also. Appliances were immediately replaced when they didn't work and in general, the landlord was terrific about seeing to it that our needs were met for the entire ten days. Short drive to a plethora of skiing and great restaurants. If you have a car & kids this place is highly recommended!
We had a great time staying at this house for the July 4th weekend. The house was clean and comfortable. The dining area in the porch was an ideal place to BBQ, relax and enjoy. Thanks to Dennis and Suzanne for their hospitality.
The house looks nice but it was quite dirty, full of animal hair throughout, and was missing the essentials such as toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap, hand towels in the bathroom, and trash bags. We purchased everything we needed but were surprised to arrive and not have those things on hand already. We initially didn't realize the owners were right next door and when we did speak with them, they were cordial but informed us the house isn't a hotel. (They came to speak to us about putting too much garbage in the trash bin but it was already quite full when we arrived.) Had we known the essentials would not be provided, and the house really only sleeps 5, we would not have reserved it. As another review points out, there is also a drop in the floor that isn't noticeable and was a constant worry that someone would trip over it. Something to note too is that the power went out a couple of times, but it's a common occurrence in the area and not a fault of the owners. It would have been nice to know all of these things up front so there wouldn't have been surprises.
The owners are very welcoming, accommodating and responsive to enquiries. Appliances are modern and work well. In our view, the property is correctly priced given the amenities and condition of the home. The wifi was patchy and one of the bedrooms is on a slant, making it challenging for two people, but otherwise we were very comfortable.
This was our first time renting in Saugherties. We loved the way the Living Room , Kitchen and Dinning Room area is all open to each other. The bedrooms are perfect size if we wanted to bring our children next time. Very clean which is great cause I'm a nut about that. They had a large tub with a jauzzi but it wasn't working I wish it had. O maybe next time. Other then that I would stay there again!! Great Home!!!!!!!!!!!
I went upstate to ski with a small group, and we all had a great experience - Thanks Dennis and Suzanne!
You're 3 BR home has beautiful views of the pond and wilderness outside, and inside we had a wonderful new open kitchen area with comfortable living room. The bedrooms were spacious and my bed was very comfortable btw....... what can I say except that ill be coming back soon and really appreciate your hospitality. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
We very much enjoyed our stay in Saugerties. The house was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting in the living area and and relaxing in the evenings. We were pleased with the house, the things left for us and the the setting. We stayed during the height of fall colours and the property and surroundings were absolutely gorgeoous.
A few small changes (that mostly wouldn't cost much!) would have increased our enjoyment.
1-Garbage bags. We had to go out late at night to find an open gas station, so we could line the garbage can. When the basics are provided and we are expected to put the garbage out when we leave, this is a non-debatable item.
2-Waste baskets in both bathrooms. It's not fun to bag and carry bathroom waste to the kitchen all the time.
3-Hand towels in the bathrooms. There were three lovely bath towels but we had to use somebody's towel every time we dried our hands.
4-Tea towels for drying dishes.
5-A teapot. This one is admittedly not a necessity but it would be nice. The other dishes provided were all lovely and I'm sure a basic teapot would be very cheap.
Finally, there was a drop in the floor between one part of the house and another. We put a chair there to avoid breaking our necks (it's a just an inch or two drop but it's enough to trip). Can something be done to fix this or at least to alert people that it's there?
If these things were fixed, the place would be perfect.
