The cross village area has quickly arrived as a destination for discerning guests who do not require the experience of being 'in-town', but who would rather enjoy the up north experience at their own pace. All of the family attractions such as restaurants, cinemas, ice cream, and putt putt golf, are within a half hour drive away in Mackinaw City, Harbor Springs or Petoskey. However the very important amenity your privacy and a relaxed atmosphere in nature, are at your feet.
We 'discovered' the area a few years ago after traveling throughout the 'gold coast' of Michigan. We have always felt that northern Michigan should be a respite from the crowds and noise of even the smallest city or even neighborhoods. With that in mind a house on a rock-less beach in a pristine area of the state away from the crowds was what we sought. The search led us to Sturgeon Bay, and so we hope it has led you to to the best of pure Michigan. We have grown up in Michigan and have traveled extensively throughout the state looking for that 'perfect spot'. We think we have found the best of all worlds, the tunnel of trees, the privacy of Sturgeon Bay, yet close enough to Harbor Springs, Petoskey, and Mackinaw to provide some 'in-town' experiences without the traffic and crowds out of your back door.
Great emphasis has been placed with making our guests comfortable, which to us means peace and privacy. This property is not 'in town', so distractions associated with being close to a major highway are not present. The beach is what you see in travel magazines and ads about Lake Michigan shorelines, it will not disappoint you with it's tranquil beauty. We truly hope and strive to develop relationships with our guests to insure repeat friends. This will eventually allow us to personalize the house in a manner to give our guests the upmost enjoyment.
The very best part of this location is the views out of both the lake side of the house and the views back behind the house to the dunes and woods. Coffee in the morning on any one of the many decks or a glass of wine at sunset are truly great relaxing experiences.
This was our 4th year at "Solstice" & it's fantastic! Lovely summer home, clean & well equiped. Fantastic beach. Nice quiet area, but with lots to do. The one problem we had was handled promptly & graciously.
The home is absolutely beautiful and is in a very tranquil, relaxing setting. It was very clean, well-equipped, and beautifully maintained. The beach is gorgeous.Ten of us stayed and we loved it. The owner was very helpful leading up to and through our stay. Though there was enough room for all of us, we all agreed that it was more suited for 8 when it came to the sleeping situation. Leg's Inn, which is quite close is a nice place to dine, and Mackinaw City is a very reasonable distance. What a great place to stay to escape the daily grind, to relax, and to connect with those you are with!
The house is advertized as "Luxury Home on Pristine Lake Michigan Beachfront ". This is the best description I can think of for this house. We arrived to a clean, beautiful, and ready to relax house. There are 2 bedrooms with shared bathroom upstairs at one end of the house and a sitting area. The other end of the upstairs has a large master suite, en suite bath with 2 sinks, and a large closet. There is a bedroom downstairs with a 3/4 bathroom. Powder room and nice large laundry room on main floor. I loved the kitchen. I cooked and baked so much...actually gained 4 lbs...lol...looking out the kitchen is a large window and you can see the lake and it is beautiful. The house is built on the dunes and actually the road the house is on is built in the dunes. So in front of the house or back, you have a beautiful view!! All bedrooms have a balcony. Sitting room upstairs has a balcony. Library has a balcony...yes, there are a lot of balconies!! We were there over Mother's Day weekend and the weekend after that. It was cold, but we still had a wonderful relaxing time. It's a nice short walk to the beach and it is the nicest beach I have seen on Lake Michigan. Because we were there earlier in the season, we had no neighbors. However, even with neighbors, the houses are built in such a way that you have so much privacy...it's difficult to put into words. Water pressure in the Master and Main Floor bath had SUPER good water pressure and so did the kitchen. The other bathroom upstairs was more of regular pressure. Nicely decorated. The lady who takes care of the property up north was extremely helpful and responded quickly to all our questions. Sandy and Kevin were so nice and also quickly answered any questions or requests we had prior to our visit. Excellant resturants in Harbor Springs, MacKinac City and Petosky. A small gas station/convience store in Cross Village. More shopping in Petosky with IGA, Meijers and Walmart. I would recommend this property for your next holiday. We hope to return again next year.
Visiting the charming and historical cities of harbor springs to the south and mackinaw city to the north. Exploring, hiking the north country trail, beach combing, walking in the dunes, swimming, biking, fishing, and power relaxing are all pertinent activities in this serene area.
