About Cindy

I came to Lexington as a newlywed with a Masters in Occupational Therapy. We moved to the Lake in 1989 before my youngest could walk and stayed for 14 years full-time! I am semi-retired now and spend as much time as I can at the Lake!

Cindy purchased this cottage in 1989

Why Cindy chose Eastern Michigan

I fell in love with this property at first sight. It was a disaster, but as my friends all said "it has a lot of potential". I worked part-time at the hospital while the girls were small and began fixing up the old house and guest house. We lived and worked in the area and in this home for 14 years while the girls were growing up. We rented the guest house to families with young children during the summer so the girls always had playmates!

What makes this cottage unique

Beach walking remains my favorite lake house activity. Our beach is very walkable in both directions, I search for sea glass, fossils and rocks! There is no light pollution in this area so the stars are especially bright, star gazing is one of my favorite night-time activities. I love to lie in the hammock, listen to the surf and watch the stars.

I often go to the cottage during the full moon, the moon rise over the water is amazing!!!

My favorite time of day at the cottage is SUNRISE!!!

The gardens at the cottage are nice to enjoy, they bloom all summer long!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Cindy, we can't thank you enough for the use of your cottage in June 2009. The cottage was very clean & well maintained for our family escape. We spent most of our time in the yard at the fire pit taking in the view. We had a large party and everyone found something to do whether it was golf (close by), shopping in Port Huron or just hanging back reading a book in a peaceful setting. We look forward to future getaways in Lexington! The MacLellan Clan!

Beautiful view, good location

  • 4 of 5

The house was nice. The dining room table was nice for family dinners. A very short drive into town. The kitchen was well stocked and the fridge is pretty big.

The bath towels were a bit ratty, I would suggest bringing your own. The water pressure is fairly low. There is wifi but it's not really stated anywhere, password is on the modem. We looked for a guide with instructions or details about the house but there isn't one. I think most of the info can be found online or by reaching out to the owner.

Overall, a nice place to stay but I would say a little pricey for what it is.

Loved it!

  • 4 of 5

Cindy bends over backwords to make things easy for the renter!. House has alot of amenieties:

swingset for the kids, toys and games, soaps, shampoo, paper towels, bathroom tissue, foil, real roasted coffee, laundry detergent, many beach towels etc. Not all rentals come with these things! We loved the fact that she provided kayaks to use and beach toys for the kids. The backyard is lovely and has a great view. Our favorite was swinging on the wooden swing and the hammock..... and watching the boats go by was so entertaining for the grandkids! (us too!) Swimming in such a clean, beautiful lake was such a wonderful experience......

House was very clean when we arrived. The only drawback for us is that one of my little grandsons is allergic to dogs and there was a bit of dog hair on the couch. Needless to say he reacted and was uncomfortable coughing ,sneezing etc. . We should've realized that before we came cuz Cindy DID advertise that dogs were welcome. We still would love to come back (maybe the couch and chairs could be vacuumed from the minimal amount of dog hair?) All in all, it was a beautiful vacation and the whole family just loved it!! Thank you Cindy!

The whole clan

  • 4 of 5

The location, yard, beach is amazing! we rented both house and cottage. Lake Huron is so clean and beautiful. Until we arrived were not aware there was no AC. The big house was manageable with the breeze off the lake. The cottage was almost unbearable despite the abundance of fans provided. Owner provides ample starter supplies, and kayaks, bikes etc. The tips about water shoes were much appreciated! And the ability to bring our dogs was a blessing. They had a great time! Cons to the site were the advertised wi-fi is not sufficient for online college classes, or work purposes. The lack of privacy in the cottage (the 2 bedrooms are connected with a door that has no knob and doesn't lock) bathroom with a shower so small that a petite female can barely move, and the lack of AC.The cottage floors were all cement which did work out well with not having to worry about wet sandy dogs. The cottage was more like glorified camping,, so disappointing due to the $ we paid. We did have a great week of good weather and family time.

Great Beach!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a great week at Cindy's wonderful home. Second year in a row for us. Huge place with plenty of room. We have had as many as 10 adults and 11 kids. You can have campfires on the beach or in the fireplace in the front yard. 3 kayaks. BBQ that's hooked up to the house's natural gas line. Second house behind the main house that can fit a large family. Private and secluded. Probably one of the best stretches of beach from Lexington to Port Sanilac. Great experience!

Wonderful homey property

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable and clean. And the view is spectacular there. We had 15 people and rented both properties and there were ample amenities. Even a small thing such as toilet paper, as we have in the past had to purchase more, was provided. The only thing we didn't realize was Lake Huron is very rocky and would suggest water shoes. Would definitely return
