Availability Note: Please understand that we block out dates that are more than 51 weeks into the future. We do this to be loyal to our repeat guests and give them the first chance to book their same week again next year. If a guest chooses not to re-book we then re-open those dates to anyone about 51 weeks in advance. So if you see a time more than a year from now that is currently shown as not available, please check back and that week may open up.

Pet Friendly! Located on one of the more tree-canopied streets on the island, our home will provide you with the perfect vacation getaway you have been looking for. The live oaks that cover this area give you the feeling like you are in your own world. Once you park your car under the carport in the back, you may not need to use it again during your stay.

We are in a convenient location at the south end of the island, just about a 10-minute (0.4 mile) walk to the beach and 15-minute (0.7 mile) walk to the village. We are also centrally located to many great restaurants and fun activities for the whole family to discover. Cummings Lane is a very cozy, quiet, and peaceful location. It is only one block long with more people walking than driving. The trees and landscaping provide a sense of privacy and seclusion from neighbors. It is truly our favorite street on the island.

The open style floor plan and outdoor porches provide for very comfortable living. The bedrooms each have their own bathroom and can be considered to be their own suite. Amenities include cable TV, wireless internet access, a large hot/cold outdoor shower, large back deck, fully-equipped kitchen, and more.

Since 2013, we have spent every winter at the cottage and each time we have made improvements that we hope you enjoy as much as we do. Over the years we have replaced carpeting with wood flooring, built a large backyard deck with an amazing outdoor hot water shower, landscaped with many tropical plants and fruit trees (which we hope will actually have fruit one day), added fencing to fully enclose the backyard, purchased comfortable deck furniture and living room furniture, in addition to replacing the roof and the heat/air conditioning system.

We strive to provide a cottage that is comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. However, another goal is to provide an exceptionally well-maintained home and since this is our home for five months every year we are able to do this. Many other vacation homes are never really lived in by their owners, as ours is, and we think that makes a real difference. Because we actually live at the cottage for an extended period of time, we are able to offer a rental cottage that it is much more likely to provide you with that perfect stay.

If you choose to vacation at our cottage, it will feel like your home too. Who knows what changes we will make next year, but we hope you come back often to find out!

The cottage has all that you will need for a great vacation getaway and so we provide all the basic essentials we could think of. In addition to typical items like toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, and tissues we also provide plastic wrap and bags, laundry supplies, hand soap, dishwasher soap, coffee filters, spices, and beach towels and cart. There is even a small cooler with those blue ice things in the freezer ready for you first day on the beach. Our overall philosophy is to have you arrive at a home that has what you need without having to immediately run out to Winn-Dixie. Yes, you will need to get food, but at least that can wait until you have had a good night’s sleep and your morning coffee…you will even find a packet of coffee for your first morning in the cottage. We really have everything you need!

We have had the best guests and are excited about continuing to share our home as a vacation rental that is both warm and inviting. We will make every effort to provide you with a comfortable home away from home, great service when needed, and an overall ideal vacation experience.

If you have more than 4-6 people, we are happy to work with our next door neighbor (vrbo 96191) to try to accommodate a larger group.

About Linda or Art

We are retired teachers, but still work part time. We found out about St. Simons Island by chance and fell in love with the village, beach, and people. Being originally from a rural area, we that found St. Simons gives us the same comfortable feeling of home that we hope you get the chance to experience too. This is a very pet-friendly island. The beach is a great place for dogs and you can also bring your dog to dine with you at any restaurant with outside seating. It is in this light that we have made our home pet friendly too. We have now happily owned the cottage for over four years and have had the most wonderful guests visit. We wanted to make our cottage a warm and inviting, well-equipped rental home and have been told by many that we did just that. And we have plans to make it even better each year. During your stay, please feel free to contact us any time you feel the need. We're happy to share our home and are sure you'll love St Simons Island, Cummings Lane, and our cottage for your vacation.........Art and Linda

Linda or Art purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Linda or Art chose Coastal Georgia

We have been vacationing on St. Simons Island many years, including spending two winters as renters before purchasing this cottage. We feel so lucky to have found this home on one of the most beautiful streets on St. Simons Island. We have stayed in the cottage every winter since 2013 and are looking forward to many more winters here. We know you will love it as much as we do.

What makes this cottage unique

Since we spend our winters here every year and know the home so well, we can offer you a cottage in excellent condition. Considering the yearly enhancements and continued routine maintenance, we know our cottage will provide you with a vacation that is as free from problems as possible. This is one of the many things that makes our cottage stand out among the rest. We are here every year to take care of it all. Another benefit of renting from owners who consider the cottage as home for five months every year is that you are sure to have all the comforts you would need. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality appliances, dishes, pots and pans, spices, and many other items you would need for those who enjoy eating in.

The master bedroom has its own bathroom, but if you check out the floor plan (last item in the group of photos) you can see that the second bedroom can be considered to have its own private bathroom as well. That bathroom, just off the dining area, is within the alcove entrance to the second bedroom. The outer door of the alcove can be closed off at night creating another private bedroom/bathroom master suite. This makes the home ideal for one or two couples or for families with children. There is a dining area that seats four plus, another dining area in the screened porch, and a patio dining set for four on the back deck. The living room has two comfortable couches, a flat screen TV, games and books. The front porch is my favorite spot with a great porch railing at the perfect height for putting your feet up while sipping a glass of wine. Enjoy!

It's like our second home

  • 5 of 5

Just like the last three years, our fourth stay at Mr Art and Ms Linda's cottage was wonderful!! And as always, we didn't want to leave. It is quite frankly, a jewel....quaint and cozy, and perfectly located on the island to everything!! Thank you again for opening up your home to us! We will be back next July....

Great Holiday at SSI

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to SSI and the same home. It is just a great place for the sun, beach and a really nice home for us and our two 4 legged children. Art and Linda provide everything you will need for your stay. We arrive one week after the hurricane and Art had the house ready for our stay with everything cleaned both inside and outside of the house. The beach is a short walk d=from the house. We are looking forward to next year for a return visit.

Loved it, already booked next year - Has a nice Key West feel

  • 5 of 5

I have to say that this was one of the best vacation places I have stayed at. Every need has been anticipated and catered to. We were able to take our dogs and they had a wonderfu timel. The hurricane was moving in so we had a lot of contact and exchange of information with Art & Linda. I have to say they are one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to do business with. I am a dog groomer and sent the info on the cottage to all my facebook friends who are always looking for places that take dogs.

Super comfortable and beautiful garden

  • 5 of 5

The cottage looked as photogenic in real life as it does in the pictures of it. Everything, the rooms, layout, etc. was extremely well thought out.

I don't like a/c and though you definitely need it; it was nice to be able to keep it turned down and use fans which are everywhere, including the porch. The beds and furniture were again, extremely comfortable and well placed. I loved all the closet space. My partner is a slob but with all the storage space, it was easy to keep things looking tidy. I like to cook and the kitchen was a great place to cook in. Our friends couldnot make it but I think this cottage is ideally suited for a faily get-together or two couples, etc.

I emailed Art several times for suggestions re music, sights to see, etc. and he was extremely helpful. My partner is a history buff and we particularly enjoyed Fort Frederica, even me, who did not think it would be interesting at all. We loved the sea kayaking, Jekyl Island for the driftwood beach, and a Restaurant called, I think, "828" recommended by our kayak guide.
