Kathy Schroeder purchased this House in 2010
Why Kathy Schroeder chose Gearhart
My husband grew up vacationing at this home with his family and the previous owner who owned it for 47 years. He and I were fortunate in 2010 to buy it from this life-long friend and to put two full years of significant effort into bringing this century-old home into the 21st century with all new windows, doors, a new foundation, new electrical, plumbing, floors and all new landscaping while maintaining the Nantucket-style shabby chic flair of the home.
What makes this House unique
This home has an incredible location on Gin Ridge in Gearhart (so-named based on historic local lore) with views to the west of the Pacific Ocean and to the east of the Coastal mountains. Easy walks reward you at the beach access trail or at the center of town grocery or Pacific Way Cafe.

Charming, clean, great location for a large family
We have stayed here twice and love it. It is clean and comfortable. We found all the items in the kitchen that we needed to make a Thanksgiving dinner. We love how close it is to a beautiful beach!
J, So happy to hear that your stay in our home was enjoyable. I try to keep the kitchen well-stocked and everything clean. Delighted you found it that way. We are lucky to have found a home on the Oregon coast so close to the beach!
A perfect, quiet haven for a coastal getaway
I could not have asked for a more perfect weekend getaway spot. The house itself is simultaneously beautiful, comfortable, and full of all the homey amenities you could need. My best friend and I came here for a quiet alternative to New Year's Eve parties and we spent two perfect days watching movies on a cozy couch in front of the fireplace, reading with a view of the Pacific ocean, and jogging on the beach (which is a 5 minute walk from the house). The town of Gearhart has just enough shops and restaurants to provide quality food and grocery options while still having a charming, small-town atmosphere. If you enjoy cooking, this house has a beautiful kitchen stocked with cookware. The owner, is incredibly responsive and provides ample information about the house and everything a guest would need to know. I cannot recommend highly enough!
Well-maintained home, very responsive owner. Really enjoyed the gas fire pit!
Each year 8 female cousins get together for a long weekend get away. We are scattered out in Oregon and Washington. We have gone a different place each year for 5 years, but we have now found an every other year destination. This house is amazing. The weather was typical Oregon coast weather......warm Friday, raining Saturday, warm Sunday. The little town of Gearhart is so fun....stop for coffee and goodies at the bakery, do a little shopping at the two very quaint shops and basically just enjoy slowing down and disconnecting. I think we enjoyed all the amenities this house has to offer...fire pit on the amazing patio, piano so we could sing, puzzles to put together and a kitchen that is appointed better than any beach house I have ever been in. Great for a large group of singles or families. I highly recommend it! We will be back!
Glad you cousins had a great weekend. We try very hard to keep our home clean and comfortable as we use it ourselves, too. The most family and friends we have stay in our home is ten. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. I'll need to get the piano tuned!
Great home just a block to the beach and to the best bakery on the planet. Two thumbs way up!👍👍
Very well equipped home. We cooked in every night. Very inviting - wonderful view of the ocean and just a block to the Pacific Way Bakery and Cafe - and the Gearhart grocery store. "I'll be back".
Thanks Jeff for your comments. Delighted that you had a great visit in Gearhart.
One great house
We so enjoyed our stay at this magnificent home with a view of the ocean. This home is super clean, bright, accommodating in every way. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen up to date, the living space more than adequate for visiting, eating and games. The outdoor patio was a delight and the weather ideal for the beach getaway. We would highly recommend this rental.
10 minute drive south to the beach town of Seaside with outlet store shopping, arcade, beachfront boardwalk, aquarium, Lewis & Clark historical features; 10 minute drive north to Fort Clatsop and Lewis & Clark Expedition history; 20 minute drive north to beach town of Astoria and confluence of Columbia River and Pacific Ocean and lots of Lewis & Clark Expedition history
