Conveniently located minutes from downtown Highlands, NC, this spacious 11/2 story home was completed in December 2005 and has that unique mountain feel that everyone loves in Highlands. The furnishings are rustic with laurel railing along the staircase and upper loft. The dining area is open to a vaulted living area with a large stacked stone wood burning fireplace and flat-screen TV . There are two spacious master-suites on the main level, each with king beds, large bathroom with separate tile shower/tub, two vanities, and walk in closets. The main area also has a half bath attached to the laundry room.

Just off the living area is a spacious, partially covered deck set among the tree tops , with a Big Green Egg and stainless Weber gas grill for grilling. There is plenty of room for entertaining and comfortable seating for lounging and dining.

The second level consists of two roomy bedrooms: one with twin beds, and one with a queen bed plus a fold out twin. Each has its own bathroom, tub/shower combo, and vanity.

The loft area is perfect for reading, playing ping pong, and games. There is also a TV and Xbox. Three bedrooms have TVs with either cable connection or DVD player.

Perfect for large family with pets

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I celebrated 40 years of marital bliss at Betty and Ben's lovely near-to-Highlands house, with all the products of our marriage in tow: children, grandchildren, in-laws, and dogs. The 4 spacious bedrooms and 4+ large baths were ideal for our 4 distinct family groups. The living area was spacious and the large dining room table easily accommodated our crew. Th kitchen contained every utensil that one could possibly need for food preparation, and the stove, range, microwave, and refrigerator were exceedingly clean and modern. We also put the washer and dryer in the separate laundry room to good use. Each bedroom contained its own television so there was never any squabbling over what shows to watch. My favorite part of the house was it's massive deck (partly covered) on the rear, ideal for sipping early-am coffee and early-pm drinks. During our week-long stay the temperature ranged from low-60s to upper-70s, so we could have dispensed with the central A/C . The area surrounding the house is extremely quiet and populated with only a dozen or so other homes, and offered shaded streets which I found ideal for walking both pets and people. On my frequent strolls in the neighborhood, I saw a few deer scampering into the woods but (fortunately) surprised no bears !!!! The drive into downtown Highlands was an easy one of 5 minutes. I hope to return to the Highlands area again and if accompanied by numerous family or friends, this house is the first that one I will try to reserve!

Great for Eight!

  • 5 of 5

Four couples who were college friends many years ago get together every year for a mini reunion and we all agreed on how perfect Bushwood Cabin was for our group: Clean, convenient, comfortable, spacious, well-equipped kitchen and beautiful setting. Golf, hiking, shopping and ping pong tournamets were enjoyed, but gathering on the covered deck and enjoying the cool breezes any time of day or night was wonderful after a long, hot summer.

Amazing place

Great house, great location. You couldn't ask for more! The house is better than the pictures. 1.7 miles to Main St. in downtown Highlands. About 1 mile to Glenn Falls parking area. The house has everything that you need. If you are looking for a four bedroom house in the mountains this is it. I'm sure we will be back.

Highlands Bushwood Cabin - The perfect get-away!

  • 5 of 5

What more could you ask for? Nothing, according to our party of 7 and one Vizsla! This is a beautiful home nestled in the woods of Highland and just minutes from town. Their were 4 ample bedrooms, 2 masters on the first floor and 2 upstairs each with their own bathroom. The kitchen was well appointed with every item you could possibly need to prepare most any meal, however, most of ours were cooked outdoors via the "Green Egg". The guys were within easy driving distance to the beautiful golf courses in Highlands and Cashiers. The ladies took in the shops of Highlands and everyone enjoyed visits to the water falls, hiking, restaurants in town and of course fine wine too. We spent most every evening on the upper deck with a fire going a couple of evenings... one night, we were all "child-like" and made S'mores! The owner, Jay was very attentive and answered any questions we had. The home was very clean, equipped with Direct TV which was well appreciated as The British Open was on during our stay. We will place this home on our "favorite" list and you should too!

Spacious and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Bushwood Cabin provided a wonderful environment for a week-long retreat for my mom, sister, cousin and myself. The kitchen is lovely and well-equipped and it was great having the washer/dryer. The bedrooms were spacious and it was wonderful to have separate bathrooms for each bedroom. The house is in a neighborhood that is wooded and quiet and a short drive into town. The location is great for short trips to the Highlands Botanical Garden, Dry Falls, Whitewater Falls, and Cashiers. It was so nice to be able to go into town for a great lunch, shop or explore and then have just a short drive back to the house. The owner was quick to respond during the rental process and while we were at the house.
