Why Sharon Crossett chose Zionville

We searched for almost 20 years all over N.C. for the property that met our criteria...

Great views...private location... (Elevation )seasonal changes...unique character...

This home has been a WIP for a number of years! We have made many improvements. So we are finally getting where we can say it is almost 'done'.

We take so much pride in this cabin and our family has worked so hard to make this a really unique place to escape to! It has a 'soul' it 'calls' us all of the time, we wish we could answer more often!

We hope you will come visit and enjoy it as much as we do!

California Native in Love with Silverstone Cabin!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I drove across from Agoura Hills,CA to stay at the cabin with some friends to attend a wedding in Blowing Rock. The drive was around 36 hours total(I took 2 days, around 18 hours a day), anyway, the first thing I did when I got there was to sit on that AMAZING porch. I thought where I was from had a great mountain view, this place was spectacular. The house itself was beautiful, wood and log trimming everywhere, hot tub, open kitchen, did I mention the porch? Huge porch, the house was clean, and also very well taken care of, oh and natural spring water runs into the house as well. We all really enjoyed hiking the woods behind the house, and enjoyed the waterfall that's on the property as well. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, the owners were friendly and answered all of our question, and the stay was wonderful. I am already planing another visit to the cabin for next summer!!

Wonderful property, clear instructions, responsive host

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying here. The host was very responsive both before and after the stay - no issues or reasons for communication happened during our stay due to the clear instructions that the host provided. I would highly recommend this property, and I look forward to returning at some point in the future!

NOTE: As is common with older homes, the house is "chatty" (e.g. creaky noises when walking around, opening cupboard doors, etc) so be aware of that if you have light sleepers in your party. My group all went to bed and woke up around the same time every day, so it didn't really bother us at all.

Spectacular views

  • 4 of 5

We stayed @ Silverstone Cabin on 2 occasions, 1 week in August 2017,

& 5 days in September 2017.

Sharon is very helpful & gives good information for using the premises, as well as informing those who may not know the Boone area.

We enjoyed the views sitting on the deck w/ coffee in the AM & a glass of wine in the PM.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all needed to prepare full meals as we stay in most evenings, preferring to cook.

We enjoyed drives to West Jefferson to meet friends for lunch, & along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We visited The Mast General Store & garden annex, many shops, Moses Cone house off the Parkway, & had lunch @ "Fast Eddie's on Beech Mt. We could see Beech Mt. from the deck of Silverstone Cabin as fog lifted in the AM & then the lights coming on along the ridges in the PM.

We drove to visit friends in Hendersonville, NC after our September trip, driving along the Parkway, stopping off for apples & to see the beautiful Blue Ridge Mt. overlooks.

We always love coming to Boone.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much! The views are without a doubt, amazing! ..My husband & I spent many years searching other mountain towns in N.C. before finding this little gem of a town and a unique cabin that we could make our own. We were able to check off all of the elements we required and then some! We had to have elevation.. since we have always lived in such a hot climate in S.C. it is nice to have snow in the Winter and cool Summer nights..We had to have a mountain view, but we did not want to be perched on the edge of a cliff! We are still blown away everytime we walk onto the deck and see the layers of mountains! Privacy was important too, so we purchased additional acreage around the cabin. Convenience was high on the list, we wanted to be close to town/ stores/restaurants and the many things Boone and surrounding areas have to offer. Our guests seem to agree that we picked the right place!

Stunning Views!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic weekend! The views from the decks (upper and lower) were breathtaking! We had everything we needed to unplug and enjoy! The hot tub was a great touch! We are ASU alums and it is a short and non congested ride into Boone! Lots of amenities. Perfect balance of being away from it all, but being close enough to great restaurants and activities!

Photos don't do this place justice!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time at Silverstone! As mentioned in details, you get the top 2 floors of this beautiful home. We had 4 adults in our party and were all comfortable all weekend. We utilized the charcoal grill, hot tub, fire pit and hiking trail Silverstone has to offer. There is a fully stocked kitchen with grilling supplies and the home is clean and furniture is comfortable. The details in this cabin are amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. As I mentioned, photos do not do Silverstone justice. Also, Sharon was awesome! She provided detailed directions, details about the home, and provided us a list of places to visit/eat. We will be back! Best VRBO stay yet!

Off the Beaten Path Retreat

  • 4 of 5

Thanks for making us feel so welcome in your home. Your instructions and suggestions for things to do were very helpful. This summer's vacation with my 17 year old daughter had to be memorable, reflective, fun and peaceful all rolled into one. I was mindful of making the most of the time we have together before she flies. From the moment we turned down the long drive leading to house I suspected this was going to be a special piece of property. The grounds surrounding the spacious cabin were lush with trees, beautiful plants, flowers and even a little stream. Our hosts obviously enjoy gardening and clearly have green thumbs! The Monarch butterflies are plentiful thanks to the inviting environment. Lightening bugs take over the evenings after spectacular sunsets over the the mountains. We perched on the top deck off the master bedroom one night watching fireworks below - yes below - from town. This was followed by a incredible lightening show put on by Mother Nature before a curtain of rain sent us running inside laughing. Oh the stars you can see when you escape from the lights of the city. Priceless!

A couple of our best friends joined us for part of the stay and we had everything we needed in the kitchen (and then some) to prepare a great home cooked meal. The upstairs of the house has two bedrooms with a bathroom in between. The second bedroom is an open loft with no door which worked fine for our needs. It's worth noting that there is no central air conditioning or heating in the house which was not an issue even in the heat of summer since we were out exploring most days. The evenings were delightful with doors left open and fans running we snuggled in and enjoyed breathing in the fresh mountain air. We could have used some hangers and maybe an empty drawer in downstairs bedroom for clothes. Maybe edit some of the personal items?

We spent time in Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock and loved each little town and the hospitality from the locals. Our favorite restaurant was Over Yonder which is across the street from the original Mast General Store (must visit). The trout was the best I've ever had and it was difficult to stop short of licking our plates. Great historic building, staff and food. Kudos!

We would absolutely recommend this 22 acre paradise. It offers the perfect escape where you can unplug and reconnect with nature and easily access all there is to see and do in the surrounding areas.

Owner's Response: Thank you Kathy! Families really do love to gather for quality time together while taking in all the spectacular sights nature has to offer around our property! It is a wonderful place to experience mountain living.. whether it is just 'chilling out' on the expansive deck and side yard or exploring the many wooded acres surrounding the cabin! Summer is especially nice when all the flowers are in bloom and the all the trees are green and beautiful. Inside is spacious and inviting with a view from every room! We haven't had the need for AC as the evenings are cool, even in the Summer, the breezes keep the cabin comfortable all day. The cabin does not have central HVAC system but the unique Gas Log Stove in the main living area creates a cozy atmosphere and keeps the cabin toasty in the Fall/Winter, additionally, the electric fireplace in the large upstairs bedroom is an added plus on snowy days. I am glad you all found 'Over Yonder' restaurant! Its' location is surrounded by one of the prettiest towns (Valle Crusis), not far from Boone! Guests love to choose from the..very long.. list of area 'Bites' I send to them prior to arrival! We love to hear from our guests that they are happy and enjoying everything about their stay!..and yes! I will add more hangers in the closets..they do disappear sometime! Thanks again for painting such a lovely picture of our home for future guests! We hope to hear you all will be our guests again soon!

' Silverstone Cabin' has the most extraordinary views and it's unique location is so convenient to many local attractions! Watch the seasons change! Our chalet can be enjoyed all year long!

We call it our Slice of Paradise!

Spring & Summer days can be spent on the over-sized deck taking in the view of layers of mountains and the tranquil sounds of the waterfall & creek near the house or go for a hike around the 22 acres surrounding the property. We think we have the best views in the area...

For the more adventurous, spend the day hiking, fishing, white water rafting, ziplining, skiiing or horseback riding.

Our guests love walking around the towns of Boone & Blowing Rock. They have much to offer... great restaurants, sight-seeing, shopping. (Outlet Shopping in Blowing Rock) There is always a local festival going on somewhere close by. The locals are some of the most friendly, laid back people you will ever meet!

Experience beautiful mountain colors in the Fall driving the Blue Ridge Parkway or from the deck.

We have a blast skiing in the Winter months at nearby resorts: Sugar Mt. Appalachian, Beech Mt.,@ Hawksnest (tubing)! You can see (long range view) of Sugar Mt.& Beech Mt. night ski runs from the deck.
