I am originally from Corpus Christi and followed my future wife to the Austin area. We have lived in the Texas Hill Country at Lake Travis for 30 years. I am a 25 year employee of a Lake Travis water utility and my wife is a social worker. I am blessed with having a wonderful family, career and community. We would love to share this special place with you.
Henry purchased this house in 2000
There is something special about living by the water. For us, it is Lake Travis, hearing the fish splash in the lake, seeing a Great-horned Owl soar overhead at dusk, speeding on top of the waves on Lake Travis, enjoying the refreshing water. And then, being so close to downtown Austin. It is easy to ride the train or drive into town.
What I love about our home is the privacy and natural beauty surrounding it. Outside dining and relaxing in a nature lover's paradise.
I wish that I had found this property years ago. We have been coming back to Austin for several years to escape the Seattle winter and have stayed at multiple properties. This is by far the best one. It has magnificent views, the house is bright and open with the parents retreat separated from the kids. Henry is a very gracious host and always willing to help out with any questions or needs. The lake access is for adults or grown children but once there, you can kayak, swim or fish. The sunsets and fireflies are a great way to get the kids away from their screens. Highly recommend that you stay at this property next time you are in Austin.
Our family of four (plus two dogs) enjoyed a few days in this lovely, quiet house. It was clean and very well-equipped, and the communication with Henry, leading up to our stay, was easy and efficient.
The thoughtfulness of the owners was wonderful - a well stocked kitchen, water and food bowls left out for our dogs, firewood and a bag of ice in the freezer!
The view over the lake was stunning and we loved sitting out on the back deck and enjoying it. The accessibility of the dock (although we didn't have a boat) was great for fishing and we took the kayaks out each day.
Overall we had a great stay and would love to come back - thank you!
The house was everything Henry said it would be ! Plenty of parking for 3 boats and trucks !
Very convenient to boat ramp ,stores and gas stations ! Henry was very accessible and helpful ! Thank you !
Our family stayed for a short lake getaway trip and found the house to be clean, well provisioned, comfortable and with great amenities. We were supplied with wood for the fire pit, a the gas grill for outdoor food and two kayaks for some great time on the lake. The bluff is quiet and secluded - perfect for a family.
We had no problem with the stairs down to the boat dock - just be careful as you would down any stairway.
The view of the lake in the morning was stunning. When the temperature is cool and the sun hits the lake you see mist spectacular. We live in Austin ourselves so having a place near the lake for a quick staycation is wonderful.
Henry made sure we were settled in and his communication was great. Thanks for a great stay. We'd come again.
We have rented a lot of homes for vacations. This particular home is one of our best picks-great house, boat dock and quiet area of Lake Travis.
Henry is available to all needs and questions. He has supplied everything you could possibly need right down to a bag of ice in the freezer for your ice chest on arrival. The house is very clean and modern. There are bedrooms on each side with a common area in the middle. We found this to be right for our families when staying here. Privacy and quiet no matter who wants to be up or sleeping.
I feel I need to comment about the descent down to the boat dock. It is steep and quite a distance if you have any difficulties with stairs or walking disabilities. The stairway is VERY solid and secure, we never felt like we would fall. There is a handrail for the entire way. The boat dock is as described, ramp very close at a nice park. There is a place to park trailer on the property. We were there over the Labor Day weekend but still not that busy.
Overall, would recommend this rental to families. Lots of area outside for cooking and gathering.
The house is really unique and we could tell that the owners spent a lot of time making it special. Loved the décor and the little touches, like the dog pads and dog bowls in place when we arrived because we had shared that we were bringing our small family members. Great experience, and the fact that the lake was nice and full was a real bonus! The boat dock worked out really well for leaving our ski boat tied up through the week, and the extra area was excellent for staging water toys.
A leisure drive to the train depot allows guests to park and ride the train into downtown Austin to enjoy music, shopping and sightseeing. Austin is a hip and trendy city with the cultural charm of the southwest. Events at the Cedar Park Center are available for hockey fans, music lovers and thrill seekers. Enjoying walks with your dog on our newly built greenbelt trails and the Sandy Creek valley is a must. Kayaking, swimming and boating from the boat dock below the lake house provides privacy and adventure. Balcones Canyonland Preserve is located 15 minutes along the Hill Country Trail provides more hiking and bird watching. Sitting on the deck, listening and watching the birds will make a birdwatcher out of anyone. All of you fishermen, must know this is a great area for white and Guadalupe bass fishing and our dock sits in a no wake zone. By boat you can easily travel to Cafe Blue, Carlos n Charlie's, Johnny Fins, Volente Water Park, Mansfield Dam, Hippie Hollow and Windy Point. Our local organic farmers, in Cedar Park, provide excellent, certified organic vegetables on Saturdays and they are located within a 15 minutes from Jonestown. Two kayaks are available for your pleasure, and fishing gear, too.
