Why Beth Eddy chose St John

We love Fish Bay, it is a quiet area, close to the beaches,

All the lots in Fish Bay are at least 1/2 acre, so it is very private. the house is beautiful mason construction, with stone accents & large walkways.

We enjoy a lush landscape filled with , Mango, Lime, Flamboyant, Frangipani & Palm Trees. The house has beautiful stone work in the traditional Caribbean Style.

What makes this apartment unique

We have a 1 acre property surrounded by a green belt.

In the rainy season a creek flows at the foot of our property & when its dry the deer( Yes there are small deer on St. John) wander through and stop in our yard to munch some of their favorite bushes. Other visitor include Iguanas, shy, but you can spot them basking in the sun.

Good ammenities at an affordable price

We enjoyed our stay there, made good use of the kitchen and were very happy to have the AC in the heat of July. It is a quiet place, with parking right next to the studio, and the owner is very willing to answer any questions you have. We had an economy rental car and did not have difficulty driving up and down the hills to get to the rental, or any where else on our trip, however we didn't have to drive on a wet road at any point, so don't know if that would have been an issue. The rental is away from the main town,but not too far, and you drive through the town everyday to get to the beaches so it was convenient to be able to stop there if needed during the day.

Very Happy

What a great value, seriously what can you complain about? Biggest benefit is the AC. Added values are the kitchen, full shower, hot water, patio area with grill, paved street and driveway. My Fiancee & I found it to be just what we needed and just what we expected after reading all the other reviews. We also did our homework on electric, water, trash, bugs, roads, Cell phones,Wi-Fi Jeeps etc etc on the Virgin Islands as compared with home. Ray & Beth were very nice people. This was a great base to explore the Island from. We loaded up the fridge ( now a dorm size one) from the Starfish Mkt for a couple of breakfasts and dinners, bought coldcuts and made lunches for the beaches. Other times we ate out at Skinny Legs, Woody's & Morgans Mango. Lots of freedom here to to do different things on a budget. Bottom Line, we were very comfortable here, book it.

Just a crash pad

Let's start with the good. The room is cheap and clean. The host friendly.

The bad.

BUGS. We could not get away from them day or night. We couldn't enjoy the outside space at all, the bugs made it miserable. Worse than anywhere else we encountered on the island. The screen door had tears and gaps. There was a vent that pipes were run through that was not sealed. We were killing brown spiders constantly. I woke up with new bites daily.

There is a sewer pipe above the bed. When the owners upstairs flushed, there was a loud swoosh of water, than dripping for about 10 minutes. Not a great way to be woken each morning (or in the middle of the night either).

Very isolated. Which I thought would be ok with a beach close by. The beach is not great. More for fishing than hanging out. We spent a lot of time driving. We left the room after breakfast and returned to sleep. It's just a crash pad. My husband considered our lodging the worst thing about St. John.

Just As Described

We had an awesome time on St. John. This was our 4th time down and it was everything we expected it to be.

Since it was just the 2 of us this time, we chose Coqui Inn for its affordability. We knew we would be hitting a bay every day to swim, snorkel and sun, we did not feel we needed a villa with a pool as we have had the last 3 times we were down. As we settled back home, we discussed this and would say, we did miss that. Its great to go out to a different bay each day but it would have been nice to come back and relax at a pool before heading back to town for happy hour and dinner...

Coqui Inn was clean and had the things we needed for our stay. Met Ray the first day and had to talk with him day 2 because the frig was not working properly, and he had that fixed promptly. After that, we pretty much kept to ourselves and came and went as we pleased.

The area of Coqui Inn is peaceful and quiet. You will need a jeep to get about and you have to get used to driving on the wrong side of the road, not be afraid of looking down to your left and realize its straight down!! No edge lines and no guard rails on most roads!! Speed bumps into town are rough!!!! Have to get my back adjusted soon!!

This is not the place to go and just stay at the will miss out on so much the island has to offer!

The Deli that is upstairs from the Starfish Market...can't remember the name. Good sandwiches for breakfast and lunch...even stopped in and picked up a chicken and pasta dish to go for dinner for like $14.00 and it was more than enough for the 2 of us...

Woody's Seafood-Not what it used to be...but a must to go to when you are on the island

Just get out and meet people!! So fascinating...folks from all over from all walks of life...just remember "good morning", good afternoon" and "good evening"!

Great price,clean and well equipped

We stayed 2 days and had a favorable impression. The studio apartment was clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the a/c worked well. It is a 10 minute drive into Cruz Bay so eating out was effortless. It has a small patio but no view, however the owners and neighborhood were very quiet so sitting out for breakfast in the morning was pleasant. The only negative worth mentioning was that we had no hot water during our stay but taking showers with cold water when the outside temperature was in the 80's can be refreshing!

Owner's Response: I am so sorry about the hot water, the units run off separate tanks, so we don't know unless you tell us, and as in this case it was just a matter of hitting the reset. We hope all are guest will feel free to knock on our door!
