The Rainbow House...a elegant and colorful three bedroom tropical vacation rental, capable of sleeping up to six, with all the amenities you would want or expect.
Rainbow House is built in the old style of 'board and batten' and on stilts; graced with high ceilings to keep the days cool. You'll find ceiling fans in every room as well. Old fashioned double hung windows are found throughout and will keep the hottest day at bay, as well as offer great views from most rooms.
The panorama from the spacious lanai, kitchen, and dining room offers some exquisite views of waterfalls cascading in the distance. The tiled lanai has a bench, hammock, chairs, and a lazy rocking chair where you can spend the day counting waterfalls. The screened back porch has a table and chairs and a delightful view of the garden.
The dining and living area boasts a big dining room table with chairs and two comfortable couches. Both areas are great to linger and to lounge. A VCR and DVD player and small inventory of Videos are there to entertain. A radio/CD / MP3 player and a compliment of CD's will set the mood. There is cable TV and WIFI internet access.
To adjust you to the island pace and way of life, we have eliminated telephones. Most major cell phone carriers work
Custom kitchen cabinetry with a counter of blue tile work encloses a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, garbage disposal, and a vented four burner stove and oven. The kitchen is well supplied with all the essentials necessary to easily cook and eat well at home. Comes with linens and towels.
Multicolored bright tinted plastered walls with arches and custom motifs have ceramic wall sconces highlighting Brazilian red cherry floors in every room. Each bedroom is tastefully well appointed with a queen sized bed, closet, curtains, and linens.
Two bathrooms are colorfully tiled with contrasting pedestal sinks and showers. One bathroom has a restored antique claw tub which is especially useful for a 'soak ' after a day of hiking or surfing.
Below, on the first floor is the entrance leading into a small foyer with a private entrance leading to a tiled laundry area equipped with a washer and dryer, that is shared with the occupants of the nearby Garden Cottage.

As a Cuban refugee I grew up on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico where I learned to surf. It was surf that brought me to Kaua'i where in 1984 with my brother we founded KayakKauai. I love my customers and in 1994 I married one of them and now spend 1/2 the year in Los Angeles with all my feisty girls (it's a matriarchy) and the other half hands on with Kayak Kauai.
Hope you enjoy your stay on Kaua'i, which has to rival any island on the globe.
Saludos y Aloha, Micco
Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 1993
Ever since I sailed into Hanalei on a 48 foot ketch, it was my dream to live in Hanalei.
It has been my good fortune to have a fun outdoor adventure business but to also be in biking/walking distance of my vacation rental/home and of course, the SURF!
While much of Hawaii is quite beautiful, Hanalei is in a league of its own.
I would say what I like overall about my property, is not having to get into a car each time I want to go to the beach. My property location is moments away from not only the bay but some great surf. The small town of Hanalei is also in walking distance.
If you end up staying at the Rainbow House try this:
Wake up and before the cobwebs of sleep are gone, walk in a Zombie like state to the beach, and take a dip in the ocean. It is an electric way to start the day.

This house set the bar for all my vacations in Hawai'i. My girlfriend and I, and my family were so impressed on how clean and cozy the entire house is. The layout is perfect for the amount of people that it holds including elements of privacy and areas for community. It has quite the character as you notice the custom additions to some of the walls and book cases; you'll have to see for yourself. There is a lanai that faces one of Hanalei's most beautiful views, hands down. The three mountains completely weep in waterfalls as it rains at higher elevations; we counted almost 10 while we stayed there, I've heard people counting 20+. In addition to the beauty in the front of the house, the back has a screened in lanai perfect for hosting dinner; eating outside, hearing the geckos and crickets at night is always a plus, especially when they aren't flying around your head. I suggest going down the street and bringing home fish from The Dolphin Fish Market and treating your family to a local fish dinner; all other extras can be found in the town grocery stores and a beautiful farmers market on Saturdays all within walking distance from the house.
Micco, also owns a company who specializes in outfitting adventure seekers who come to the island, try looking into Kayak Kauai for tours//equipment rentals//shuttles//and island knowledge. I would stay here again and again...I hope you enjoy too!
I was disappointed in this rental.
A nice quiet location a short walk to the beach and town. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans.
The place had a general worn and not particularly well kept feel to it.
The beds were very uncomfortable-- thin mattress, no box spring, plastic mattress covers prominent.
No ice maker, toaster was broken--had to turn it upside down to remove toast, MP3 player was not working.
No beach chairs, umbrellas etc. Grill was old rusted charcoal variety that looked very ancient.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Rainbow House during my stay on Kauai. It is perfectly situated in walking distance to both Hanalei with its restaurants, bars, grocery and shops and Hanalei Beach. There are postcard views from the lanai where you can sip a Longboard Lager and count the waterfalls. The Rainbow House feels like a home. Thoughtfully designed, charming, but with plenty of room. It is truly an oasis. I cant wait to return.
We've now stayed in Rainbow House and hope to make it an ongoing tradition. The house is perfectly located to access the awesome Hanalei Beach or the cool, laid back Hanalei surf town. The teenage kids had a great time with lots to do as well as the adults. The house is really comfortable with nice bedrooms, great central space, large kitchen and outdoor screened eating deck. The house was always cool with a nice breeze always present. This place has a great vibe and is a terrific place to chill out on vacation. We'll definitely be back. Thanks Micco.
Overlooking Hanalei’s breathtaking cascade of waterfalls and a 5-minute walk to both town and surf, the Rainbow House is an idyllic and affordable getaway for your trip to the Garden Isle. My family and I stayed at Micco and Jean’s lush retreat October 5-13. The house offered us nothing short of the utmost comfort and convenience, and Micco made himself a readily available resource throughout our escape.
The grounds’ overall charm emanates from the sum of its thoughtfully designed parts: each room maintains its own character while distinctly fitting together in classic beach-house appeal. Both the netted dining porch and the open veranda with its lounge-lizard hammock enable occupants to enjoy the elements through Kauai’s inevitable rain and shine, its glorious sunrises and sunsets. The kitchen is decked with every amenity needed, fresh towels are always available, and be sure to use the quaint outside shower after a day of beach combing.
The Rainbow House captures the essence of Kauai. Press pause. Go play. Pluck a two-pound avocado from the tree out front. Feel your tensions peel away as you soak up Paradise.

My husband and me are from germany and stayed in the houes for a week. It is such a lovely place to relax. It is such a short walk to beautiful hanalei with a lot of stores and restaurants. And also s short walk to the beach. It is quiet in this street - all we heard were the sweet sounds of the birds outside. When we will come back to Hanalei then we will stay in this awesome house again. It has such a good spirit - totaly clean. Everything is working perfect. And don't miss to do a kayak tour with the guys - we had so much fun. mahalo Micco for sharing this beautiful house with us...
Some of the iconic highlights: hiking, sea kayaking or boating the Na Pali Coast; visiting Limahuli Gardens; Surfing Hanalei Bay; bird watching Kilauea Lighhouse; kayaking Wailua River; and sightseeing and/or hiking Koke'e and Waimea Canyon.
