A Day in the Life at Sugar Beach
Start your morning with a barefoot stroll along the surf on Hawaii’s longest beach and feel the warm white sand between your toes. In the spring you will most likely see a humpback whale or two breaching offshore, and you’ll see Hawaiian sea turtles most anytime of the year. Finish your walk with a dip in the warm waters of Maalaea bay or swim in the heated saltwater pool at sugar beach resort. A soak in the hot tub might feel even better.
Enjoy breakfast while gazing at the ocean from your lanai or through the large window next to your dining table. The menu includes fresh apple bananas, papaya, and mangoes from the famous Kihei farmer’s market, just a short walk from your condo.
The day presents a palette of activities. Take a cruise out to watch whales jumping in the air or dolphins following your boat. Snorkel off Molokini island. Learn to surf. Go shopping in the old whaler town of Lahaina. Take a drive to the north shore, visit the retro-town of Paia and have lunch at the world-famous mama’s fish house. Or, if you’re really up for an experience, drive all the way to heavenly Hana and swim in the seven sacred pools. See the sunrise over the crater on Haleakala. Play one of Maui’s world class golf courses. Or what the heck, just kick back on the beach all day.
It is 6:00 pm and time for watching the sun set over the west Maui mountains which is conveniently viewed from your lanai. The sky turns the color of a Mai tai as you relax in the warmth of the tropical evening. Decisions, decisions. Will it be a quiet night listening to the crashing surf or dinner at one of Maui’s fabulous restaurants? Whatever the choice you can be sure the night will end with the sounds of the ocean lulling you to sleep. Life is good.

I first came to Hawaii in 1973 and fell immediately in love. I started a business on Oahu and later lived on Maui for 8 years. I retired 17 years ago and began traveling. I am now a full time world traveler but always return to the islands when I circle around to this part of the globe. This photo, taken in Alberobello, Italy, is me with my 3 loves--my 2 beautiful daughters and my '76 Westfalia Bus.
Roy Bruder purchased this condo in 2012
Sugar Beach has the perfect location. You are close enough to all the great restaurants of Wailea, Maalaea, and Lahaina, close to the shopping center in Kahului with everything from Costco to Whole Foods. I don't even bother renting a car when I'm here. There is a bus stop just a short walk away which will get you most places on the island. And, it isn't bad living right on the beach.
I looked at dozens of condos before I walked into 312 and instantly knew it was the one for me. It was so bright and airy where others seemed cramped and dark. The side window looking out at the ocean was the killer and the fact that it has a larger bedroom than most of the other units was a big plus as well.
I would definitely return to sugar beach. It is a great location for kids. Also easy to get to town . Very walkable.
Our Christmas Vacation in this beautiful condo was perfect for my husband, myself and our High School senior. The pictures are an accurate reflection of the condo setting. Everything you could possible need has been provided for your vacation pleasure. We took advantage of the boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, sand chairs and cooler on our many trips to the beach. The owner was very easy and accommodating to work with. We have never stayed in the Sugar Beach location before and we would definitely come back to this area. The location is perfectly located in the heart of Maui. Easy and quick drives to beaches or if you prefer staying at the condo and relaxing on the beach out front. We saw whales while having morning coffee on the lanai. We enjoyed meeting other guests in the evening at the hot tub area. This condo is only 3 floors up from the pool, it can be slightly noisy with the younger swimmers but the 9:30PM closed pool and hot tub area makes for a quiet and peaceful evening. We never needed to use the air conditioning and just kept the bedroom windows and lanai doors open since they are both screened and gave us a cool tropical breeze all day and evening long. We travel to the islands every 2 years and we plan to revisit this property again. Aloha!!
What an awesome place to stay on Maui! Great location with many amenities. Condo had everything we needed and more. We'll definitely be back!!
This condo was clean and well stocked with everything that we needed for our week long stay. The view was spectacular and we hope to stay here again in the near future. Great central location too!
My husband and I really enjoyed the stay in this unit. The views are very beautiful from the patio and also from the dining area. The unit is clean and so close to the beach that you can literally hear the waves crashing! I have a 1 year old for whom I rented a crib and this was set up in the bedroom. The bedroom was large enough to accommodate the crib very comfortably and still had plenty of room to keep other stuff and walk around. It was not crammed up at all. Everything in this unit has been very comfortable so it is hard to find something negative about it. We also enjoyed the location of the unit because it was away from the touristy west side which was nice. The kitchen was so well stocked that we literally had to return few things to the grocery store. I think in the 5 days that we stayed there, we used pretty much every amenity that this unit and the resort provide. It was perfect and I know for certain that I will be choosing this place again whenever I make my next trip to Maui.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Sugar Beach Resort. The photos in Roy's listing are accurate, so you can count on what you see is what you get! It is a great condo in a central location on Maui. It seemed like it only took a few minutes to reach any destination on the island. The beach was nice, felt secluded, never busy and easy to walk along. Parking was easy and the resort grounds were will maintained. I would stay there again!
