Cozy multi-level 3 bedroom home in your own quiet 3 acre redwood forest
A talented craftsman has converted and updated what was once a tiny cabin into a one-of-a-kind home in a private redwood forest. This home has redwood inside and out to create the feeling of being cradled by nature. The home offers an easy-going ambiance, with no less than 18 skylights, flooding the interior living spaces with the light, color, and serenity from the surrounding forest. There are artisan touches from the gnarled door pulls to the exposed beams in the original living room side-by-side with modern amenities to ensure a comfortable and restful stay. Bedroom #1 has a King size bed, two large skylights, and a private half bathroom. It is upstairs where you can get away from the TVs and other guests in your group for a little solitude . Bedroom #2 has one Queen bed, a skylight, and a private full bathroom (tub/no shower). It is on the main floor for those who don't do well with stairs or like to be near the action. Bedroom #3 has a Queen bed and a Queen Size futon/bed. This room is down a half flight of stairs and has a TV with DVD/VCR...the kids love this room but adults enjoy the feeling of privacy too. Outside is a wide wrap around deck for enjoying the fresh air of the forest with a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a chilled glass of wine in the evening. Relax at the end of your day in the salt water hot tub under the redwoods.

About Lucy Edwards
We live in the San Francisco Bay area and our Mendocino home is just 3 hours away...close enough for a quick getaway and yet feels like a complete escape from our daily lives.
Lucy Edwards purchased this House in 2000
Why Lucy Edwards chose Little River
Having a home one mile inland allows us to enjoy many more sunny days above the fog line and we can go to the beach on the days the sun breaks through the fog. We get the best of both worlds here in the redwoods.
What makes this House unique
Artisan wood work details inside the home. Reclaimed 'Old Growth' redwood planks above the fireplace. Wide wrap-around redwood deck. Skylights in nearly every room allow full enjoyment of the towering redwoods surrounding the home.

Great house, great location
We really enjoyed our stay at the Little River Redwoods house. It was perfectly located just south of Mendocino. It felt like we were deep in the woods, when we were, in fact, less than 5 minutes from the beach. My kids loved exploring the many state parks and beaches close by, and my husband enjoyed peaceful morning walks in the pygmy forest located just off of the road the house is on. The house itself was large, clean and peaceful. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for my kids since it had a large bed, as well as a large pull-out futon. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and cookware, which allowed us to cook almost all of our meals, rather than eat out. We will definitely be back!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a helpful review. We appreciated you also as excellent guests who took good care of our home. We look forward to your next visit
Truly enchanting home in the Redwoods
I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at Little River. We were a party of 4 with 2 children ages 4 and 8. The house is spotless, well stocked and organized kitchen, laundry and bathrooms. The beds are all comfortable and there are skylights in almost every room!!! The property is stunning with gorgeous redwoods towering over the home. There is a cute fort just outside the home's entrance surrounded by Redwood trees. It is absolutely ...AMAZING. The hot tub was wonderful with views of the gorgeous yard and lots of privacy. We had a small party, but the house is large and I believe could accommodate 8 guests and you would feel that you had plenty of room. Lucy was easy to get in touch with, extremely punctual with her responses. The fire place was even set up for us to use.
There are lots of board games and movies to watch and easy directions for smart TV and remotes. Although it rained our entire visit, we had a blast. We visited Glass Beach, Fort Bragg, a few beaches nearby and took a drive up to Avenue of Giants, ( well worth the drive!!!)
We just loved the home and hope to visit again soon!
Book it, you won't regret it.
Lovely stay in Mendocino County!
We loved staying at this home, and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. And for that reason, we hope to visit again :-) The home has a stocked kitchen with everything you might need to cook a meal at home and there is a grocery store not more than 10 minutes away. The hot tub was nice after long days of exploring. And the kids enjoyed cozying up by the fire to watch movies at night. Thanks for a great stay!
It was so nice to have two sides of the house and to be able to go upstairs and just find solitude. The pictures didn't show all the fun multi levels and amazing views. The property in itself is fun to hike around......enjoyed it a lot.
Thank you for your great review and for being a wonderful guest.
Overall; very nice
cozy, comfortable, rockin' hot tub. Close to town.
Glad you had a nice time. Come again!
Such a comfortable, beautiful home! We loved every minute! Lucy was fabulous to work with and so accommodating!
The location is so close to all the nature attractions and center of town, but away from it all too with total privacy.
Don’t miss an opportunity to dine at Wild Fish about a mile away! It was exquisite!
We are so happy you loved your visit. Thank you for your excellent review.
