A talented craftsman has converted and updated what was once a tiny cabin into a one-of-a-kind home in a private redwood forest. This home has redwood inside and out to create the feeling of being cradled by nature. The home offers an easy-going ambiance, with no less than 18 skylights, flooding the interior living spaces with the light, color, and serenity from the surrounding forest. There are artisan touches from the gnarled door pulls to the exposed beams in the original living room side-by-side with modern amenities to ensure a comfortable and restful stay. Bedroom #1 has a King size bed, two large skylights, and a private half bathroom. It is upstairs where you can get away from the TVs and other guests in your group for a little solitude . Bedroom #2 has one Queen bed, a skylight, and a private full bathroom (tub/no shower). It is on the main floor for those who don't do well with stairs or like to be near the action. Bedroom #3 has a Queen bed and a Queen Size futon/bed. This room is down a half flight of stairs and has a TV with DVD/VCR...the kids love this room but adults enjoy the feeling of privacy too. Outside is a wide wrap around deck for enjoying the fresh air of the forest with a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a chilled glass of wine in the evening. Relax at the end of your day in the salt water hot tub under the redwoods.

About Lucy Edwards
We live in the San Francisco Bay area and our Mendocino home is just 3 hours away...close enough for a quick getaway and yet feels like a complete escape from our daily lives.
Lucy Edwards purchased this House in 2000
Why Lucy Edwards chose Little River
Having a home one mile inland allows us to enjoy many more sunny days above the fog line and we can go to the beach on the days the sun breaks through the fog. We get the best of both worlds here in the redwoods.
What makes this House unique
Artisan wood work details inside the home. Reclaimed 'Old Growth' redwood planks above the fireplace. Wide wrap-around redwood deck. Skylights in nearly every room allow full enjoyment of the towering redwoods surrounding the home.

Great house, great location
We really enjoyed our stay at the Little River Redwoods house. It was perfectly located just south of Mendocino. It felt like we were deep in the woods, when we were, in fact, less than 5 minutes from the beach. My kids loved exploring the many state parks and beaches close by, and my husband enjoyed peaceful morning walks in the pygmy forest located just off of the road the house is on. The house itself was large, clean and peaceful. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for my kids since it had a large bed, as well as a large pull-out futon. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and cookware, which allowed us to cook almost all of our meals, rather than eat out. We will definitely be back!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a helpful review. We appreciated you also as excellent guests who took good care of our home. We look forward to your next visit
Beautiful, stunning architecture, well appointed, great skylights, large home, and awesome jacuzzi
Lucy, the owner was very responsive and wonderful to work with. She was on vacation, out of the country, and still responded timely. The Little River Redwoods house had an incredible architecture, very unique and a true representation of a redwood home/cabin. There are skylights in nearly every room which allowed us to see the large redwood trees in the daytime and the stars at night. The house was well appointed and very spacious, perfect for a family or several couples. The kitchen was fully equipped, so we took advantage of that and prepared some tasty meals, not to mention there was a BBQ grille outside, which made for some flavorful steaks! There is also a huge deck outside, where we enjoyed our morning coffee. The location was in a prime spot and close to Mendocino Village. One of.our favorite ammenities was the amazing hot tub. It was a fantastic way to end the day, sitting and relaxing in the wilderness, and gazing at the beautiful stars. We are sure to return to this enchanting place!
Secluded and calming
We loved how spacious the home is. Seemed like we were in the woods except for some traffic noise. We will book this home again.
We're happy you enjoyed your time and we look for to having you again. Thank you for taking excellent care of our home.
Redwood Grove- Little River near FT Bragg
The property was very clean and everything was in working order. So appreciated that everything was ready. My 5 granddaughters had a wonderful time, spent some time in the spa each evening and enjoyed being able to hook up to Wi-Fi. The house was close to several great beaches and a short 10 mile trip to Ft Bragg made this house the perfect place. It was secluded among the redwoods and just enjoyed being there on the back porch
We're glad to know you all enjoyed everything, Lucy
Beautiful and peaceful!
We loved our visit and Lucy was so communicative and easy to work with! The house is beautiful and totally functional. Lots of natural light from the skylights and plenty of room to spread out. Very kid/family friendly with room to run and explore in the yard. The hot tub was a big hit, as well as the banana slugs. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning! The Flow in Mendocino served a delicious brunch with a beautiful view and we loved exploring the nearby beaches. Thanks Lucy!
Awesome get away
We had a wonderful time at this enchanting home...It was perfect in the redwoods but close to everything. Quiet, Peaceful, very clean...what a nice place to visit . The hot tub under the redwoods and stars was outstanding.
