A talented craftsman has converted and updated what was once a tiny cabin into a one-of-a-kind home in a private redwood forest. This home has redwood inside and out to create the feeling of being cradled by nature. The home offers an easy-going ambiance, with no less than 18 skylights, flooding the interior living spaces with the light, color, and serenity from the surrounding forest. There are artisan touches from the gnarled door pulls to the exposed beams in the original living room side-by-side with modern amenities to ensure a comfortable and restful stay. Bedroom #1 has a King size bed, two large skylights, and a private half bathroom. It is upstairs where you can get away from the TVs and other guests in your group for a little solitude . Bedroom #2 has one Queen bed, a skylight, and a private full bathroom (tub/no shower). It is on the main floor for those who don't do well with stairs or like to be near the action. Bedroom #3 has a Queen bed and a Queen Size futon/bed. This room is down a half flight of stairs and has a TV with DVD/VCR...the kids love this room but adults enjoy the feeling of privacy too. Outside is a wide wrap around deck for enjoying the fresh air of the forest with a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a chilled glass of wine in the evening. Relax at the end of your day in the salt water hot tub under the redwoods.

About Lucy Edwards
We live in the San Francisco Bay area and our Mendocino home is just 3 hours away...close enough for a quick getaway and yet feels like a complete escape from our daily lives.
Lucy Edwards purchased this House in 2000
Why Lucy Edwards chose Little River
Having a home one mile inland allows us to enjoy many more sunny days above the fog line and we can go to the beach on the days the sun breaks through the fog. We get the best of both worlds here in the redwoods.
What makes this House unique
Artisan wood work details inside the home. Reclaimed 'Old Growth' redwood planks above the fireplace. Wide wrap-around redwood deck. Skylights in nearly every room allow full enjoyment of the towering redwoods surrounding the home.

Great house, great location
We really enjoyed our stay at the Little River Redwoods house. It was perfectly located just south of Mendocino. It felt like we were deep in the woods, when we were, in fact, less than 5 minutes from the beach. My kids loved exploring the many state parks and beaches close by, and my husband enjoyed peaceful morning walks in the pygmy forest located just off of the road the house is on. The house itself was large, clean and peaceful. The downstairs bedroom was perfect for my kids since it had a large bed, as well as a large pull-out futon. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and cookware, which allowed us to cook almost all of our meals, rather than eat out. We will definitely be back!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a helpful review. We appreciated you also as excellent guests who took good care of our home. We look forward to your next visit
Charming home in a great location!
We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The house has a woodsy ambiance and is well-equipped and comfortable. Loved the hot tub, and we enjoyed grilling out after our days of exploration of the nearby coastal areas. We also drove up to the Avenue of the Giants, which is a couple of hours north but well worth the trip.
The perfect family cabin
Just finished up a 3 night stay at Little River Redwoods, and wish we had booked longer!
The layout of the cabin is perfect for a family stay- kids stayed in the downstairs bedroom, grandparents in the upstairs bedroom (where it was most quiet), and parents in the bedroom off the living room. The home was stocked with everything you need- towels, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans- just bring your food and drinks and enjoy an amazing stay. The hot tub was super relaxing. Especially nice to look up at the stars through the space between the trees. Loved sipping my coffee on the back deck in the morning, fresh air and peace and quiet.
Ideal location for visiting downtown a Mendocino and the Botanical Gardens. We will be back!
You're review is the fastest we've ever received, and one of the best! We're happy you had a relaxing vacation and we look forward to your next booking.
Redwood cabin in the woods in grand style!
The week went all too quickly, but we all had a great visit at your beautiful home. With so much room to spread out and enjoy the family, it was a very wonderful time.
Thank you Lucy, for providing such a high quality space, with exquisite attention to details. We marveled at the artistic workmanship and use of old growth redwood. So appropriate for a cabin in the woods.
Our kids are looking forward to many repeat visits.

We are so happy that your visit was all you had hoped. Thank you for a beautiful review!
This is our 3rd. Year renting your lovely home in Mendocino. One of the women said "We're home" when we walked into the house! Always cozy and love the privacy and the hot tub. Loved the facelift and thanks for being so responsive to our text. We will be back next year.
Thank you, Linda Eaton
P.s. My husband's name is also Wayne!
That warms our hearts to hear our guests feel right at home. We are glad you noticed and appreciated our little upgrades. We look forward to your next stay!
P.S. Aren't we lucky to have our "Waynes"... I'm sure yours is, as mine is, a good man!
Little River is absolutely beautiful--wonderful vacation home and wonderful owners. Highly recommen
The house at Little River was private and tranquil, but was also near to incredible beaches, Van Damme State Park, and the friendly town of Mendocino. The hot tub was a welcome reprieve after a day of hiking, and our kids loved every minute--especially playing games after dinner in front of a cozy fire. We can't wait to visit again!
