Wonderful 2nd Stay - Great Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay, two years in a row, with plans to rent again next year – need we say more! This cozy two-bedroom lake cottage is truly a "home-away-from-home" having everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Amy, Bill and Debbie again were wonderful and very accommodating, offering an amazing property that was again in pristine condition and fully accessorized, leaving nothing desired.

The cottage is warm and expansive series of decks offer one of the best views of Canandaigua Lake. The cottage was immaculate, comfortable, and well-appointed with every amenity you will need. The amazing deck(s) gives your family and friends plenty of space to relax. All of our family and guests who visited really enjoyed themselves and were overwhelmed by the cottage and the view. The water is clear and perfect for swimming, kayaking, sailboarding, and just floating right off the dock at lake level.

We truly had a wonderful and memorable stay! We have rented before on Canandaigua Lake and from our experience, this cottage is the best!!! We are returning in 2017!

Fabulous as Always!

  • 5 of 5

We consider this a "home away from home" as this is our fourth stay at this property. It is perfect for our family of four, with ample space for our two children to spread out, yet cozy as the name suggests. The views are spectacular from each of the tiered decks giving different perspectives to enjoy as you sip your morning coffee or evening cocktails. We have family across on the East side of the lake and as we've grown in size of family members, it became necessary to find other places to stay. This has been perfect! We actually discovered that the West side provided a calmer area for swimming and enjoying the lake on windy days, as opposed to the location of our family on the East side during this stay. We appreciate the thought and care of this property and look forward to seeing the owners each year as they discreetly greet us upon arrival each time. Thank you, Cozy Cottage, our "home away from home!" We look forward to our next rendezvous!

Amazing Time...Amazing Place

  • 5 of 5

If you’re looking for a place directly on the lake with beautiful views, a cozy cottage feel and ample space for family and friends to share in your get-away then look no further. This is the second year we have had the great fortune to rent the cottage and are already anticipating our third visit. Our second day at the cottage was spent with 15 family members of all ages eating, drinking, and enjoying the sailboats navigate the lake throughout the day. With such a large group of people we were in need of extra tables for the serving of food. A request to our host Bill for tables was quickly and graciously fulfilled. After barbecuing (gas grill and propane provided), the remainder of the day was spent by our relatives relaxing on the exceptionally large decks that include chairs and lounges. Throughout the week friends visited, caught a few rays, swam and spent lazy nights sitting around the firepit. Many of our visitors enjoyed their time so much that we ended up having guests spending the night as there is plenty of space to easily accommodate 5 people. A big thank you for providing linens, towels, and use of the washer and dryer. The cozy 2 bedroom lake home is a true vacation spot with all of amenities to make it home. I would highly recommend this cottage for a spring, summer, fall or winter getaway!

Second visit still the best place to stay on Canandaigua Lake

  • 5 of 5

This is our second summer at the "Cozy 2 Bedroom Lake Home" we were not disappointed. Last year I cried when I left this year I cried when I got there I was so happy to return. We picked weeks a little later this year and I thought we might not have "warm" weather, the weather was perfect!!! As usual the sunrises were outstanding and we did use the fire pit this year for my granddaughters. We love this cottage because we are a hop, skip and a jump to town. We also love it for the fact we can "wander" to places we have not seen in New York (hard to believe being as be were both born there). I can't imagine anyplace to stay more comfortable than this cottage on the lake. This year we also had quite a bit of company and they all raved about the place. As always Bill was gracious in welcoming us and the only complaint I can think of is we both missed the tree in the upper deck. The summer home on the right had quite a bit of company they were celebrating a 40th wedding anniversary and apologized for any noise they might have made. I told them "no problem for us we enjoyed the music by the band" . Very nice people enjoyed watching young people have a good time. My husband and I just replaced our kitchen in our Florida home and he had the nerve to tell me he thought the kitchen in the cottage was easier to work in than our new kitchen!!! If you want a great place to relax this is it. Just don't cut anymore trees down Bill LOL

Two thumbs up

  • 5 of 5

On short notice we decide to try and find a place on canandaigua lake. I found the cozy cottage to be available and the perfect size for us.

The cottage is just as it stated. Everything is there that you need and absolutely spotless on arrival. We took a quick walk through the house then headed out to the back decks. The 3 decks are beautiful in view, size and furniture. We spent every minute possible on those decks. We would get up early most mornings and watch the sun rise. Words cannot describe the beauty.

Amy, Bill and Debbie were so nice to use and we so enjoyed chatting with them almost daily.

We hope to return summer 2017 to enjoy another relaxing week.

They're watching you

  • 2 of 5

Great little cottage and a great location, but if you want privacy, look elsewhere. The owners live directly across the street and retain rights to access the lake and their boat whenever they want- meaning many unannounced visits in your "backyard" and, in our case, twice kids nearly entering the cottage when we were inside trying to relax. Also confronted by the owner when my guests brought a dog to sit on the deck during a did they know? They're watching you. As a result, they deducted an extra 50 bucks from the security deposit for "extra cleaning" when we left the place in immaculate condition. Nice place, but no privacy and they'll play with your deposit.

Owner's Response: We do live across the street and can’t help but see the cottage activity. Our lease clearly states no pets are allowed and if someone brings pets, the full security deposit will be forfeited. Even though a large, hairy dog that sheds came to the cottage more than once, we did not ‘play with the deposit’. Our cleaning person charged $50 higher than the norm for cleaning. We did deduct this from the deposit and explained it to the tenant. It is also worth noting this tenant stayed here for 3 weeks in 2015, had a great experience, and hence decided to return in 2016. Most people that stay there return for another visit. People wouldn’t do that if we invaded their privacy. In over 3 years of renting with dozens of clients, we have only held back part of the security deposit in 2 cases, this one and one other. Both were for out-of-the-norm cleaning charges. We regret this tenant had a bad experience this time and wish him and his family all the best going forward.
