Main House-2 Bd/2 bath & Seasonal (CLOSED IN WINTER) 2 bd/1 bath Guest House
We are a active family of four who love to play, relax, ski, hike, cook and entertain on the weekends.
Victoria purchased this House in 1994
Why Victoria chose West Cornwall
We purchased this property as a country escape on the weekends and summers. We feel we have the best of both worlds and with its 7 forested acres, it is a breath of fresh air the minute your car door opens and you breathe in the scent of the towering pines. We adore the beautiful setting in West Cornwall and the surrounding areas that compose the villages of Cornwall - nearby skiing at Mohawk Mountain, Cream Hill Lake, the covered bridge, the hiking trails, cycling in the foothills, the organic farmers' market, the local events - always fun, sometimes quirky, and the beauty of pristine Cream Hill Lake - interesting people and loads of activities beckon. The property has the feeling of a country retreat yet nearby cultural and sporting opportunities are a short drive away. I was smitten with the property the moment I drove down the long, winding, tree canopied driveway and I'm especially fond of the setting as it brings back memories of my childhood country home in the mountains of New Mexico.
What makes this House unique
Incredibly relaxing forest setting under 2 hours from the city or 30 minutes from Metro North - romantic getaway or perfect for families. Designer home with a seasonal guest house (not available in winter) located down a stone path, both with a mix of modernist and antique furnishings. Do nothing at all except nap in the hammock or get active with plenty of choices nearby. I love the views of the Berkshire mountains, sunsets from the kitchen and stone terrace and the massive stone fireplace that's perfect for enjoying a book and glass of wine. I love going to sleep to the sounds of a babbling brook in the background. My kids grew up skiing at nearby Mohawk Mountain, a mere 5 minute drive and now hurl themselves through the terrain parks at Butternut and Catamount (45 minute drives). Fall is my one of my favorite times - it's magical, the foliage is spectacular, great hiking weather and a photo opt awaits you at every turn.

Rustic, comfortable country retreat
We spent a long weekend here celebrating my mother-in-law's 75th birthday. We had 5 adults, a 3 and a half year old and a baby. It was a wonderful, relaxing weekend with everything we could possibly need! The guest house was perfect for the couple with children, but we mostly all hung out in the main house, chatting, preparing meals etc. The houses are incredibly charming and comfortable, with a nice mix of modern amenities, and lovely antiques. It's deeply wooded, serene, calming. One thing to be aware of- we slept with the windows open and you can hear cars on a road nearby, but they didn't bother us at all. It was a very restorative weekend for us all.
Perfect Family Getaway
This is a perfect family retreat. We stayed with our adult children and grandchildren for 5 days and had a lovely time. Our grandchildren thought it was magical and pictured little fairies flying above the babbling brook. True, I have very imaginative grandchildren, but they had so much fun. There were a lot of movies and toys and games that kept them very happy. The adults enjoyed a very relaxing weekend surrounded by nature.
A wonderful family weekend
My family and I (wife, parents, brother, sister-in-law and 2 young children - 3-1/2 and 7 months) recently spent a weekend at this wonderful house in West Cornwall. The property was exactly what we were looking for - comfortable, wonderfully decorated, calm and peaceful. A perfect place to spend some quality time with loved ones. The living room / sitting areas were perfect for hanging out and the kitchen table was the ideal place to gather and enjoy meals.
The owners were very responsive to any question we had while at the house, which made for a very comfortable stay. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a great weekend (or extended time) away!
This property is a vacation getaway from a film. It's picture perfect. The decor is incredibly well-curated and homey (we especially loved the moose head in the living area). The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare lovely dinners and enjoy them outside in Adirondack chairs around the fire pit. The house and guest house even smell like a lakeside holiday. Also, it was very well-stocked in terms of towels, sheets, extra blankets. There was nothing that we needed, except maybe a few more days there! The owner was attentive, quick to reply to email and generally wonderful. 5 stars!
Idyllic Cornwall getaway
We couldn't have been happier with our experience at this property. The rooms are picture perfect, with beautiful decor and scenic views. The owner is so helpful and easy to get in touch with, we had no problems during our stay. We will definitely be back!
Great place to escape for some R&R. House had everything you need. The living in the main house was large and fun area to just hang around.Waking up to the sound of the brook near by was relaxing. We sat around the fire pit and took in the peacefulness of the area. Owners were great to deal with.
As far as our group goes the only thing missing would be a hot tub. lol
Would definitely book it again and recommend to others.
