Love Marco Island

  • 5 of 5

Very nice updated house. South facing backyard was a plus. My family stayed here with me and loved the time spend. When I had a small issue, owner was very prompt in fixing the problem. House is 1 minute from the Marco Island Recreation Center and the outdoor walking path. My parents like being able to go over there for a short walk. If you want beach access, not the place for you. Being younger, I enjoyed the 10-15 minute walk/run to the beach. Price was great for three bedrooms. If you decide to stay here, you will enjoy it.

Excellent location. Everything we needed and more!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented the home for 2 weeks, and were very pleased. Most of the home has been recently remodeled, and although it is one of the older homes in the neighborhood, it served our every purpose and was very comfortable. We rented a boat (which I highly recommend), which we kept at the dock on the property for the 2 weeks and spent every day fishing and sightseeing on the gulf and in the mangroves. The house provided all the comforts of home, and some extras such as beach chairs, coolers, and a full spice cabinet! We enjoy cooking, and cooked our catch nearly every night. The kitchen was well equipped and modern. 2 osprey have a nest on the property, and if you enjoy bird watching, Marco is a must! Would definitely rent again!

Great vacation home for my family

  • 5 of 5

Rented this home for a 2-week vacation with my 3 children. The home was perfect for my family's needs. The owner was extremely responsive to some minor issues when we arrived and the rest of our stay at the home couldn't have been any better.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

We had a most enjoyable week in this spacious, comfortable, nicely appointed canal home. The owner was friendly and accommodating, everything was as expected. The layout worked really well for us, with master bed/bath on one side of the house (for my elderly parents) and the other two bedrooms and bath on the other side.

Many nice surprises: lots of fish (including a giant tarpon and a few passing stingrays!) off the dock, an osprey nest in the big backyard tree, the shady dog park and drop-in yoga classes at nearby Mackle Park, and a working bike in the garage (my hubby bought a new inner tube and I found a working lock) so I could take a daily morning ride for the newspaper. Well-stocked kitchen (except it needs a blender!) and the bedding was wonderful: very comfy beds, great linens. High-speed internet impressed my computer-geek son! :) Gorgeous morning light and sunset views as the house is well positioned on the canal, facing south. Breezy and comfortable, at least our week there.

Cons: The dryer has a terrible squeak that needs attention, there are some minor things that need fixing (porch door, curtain rod), and yes the exterior landscaping could use some love. A pool and/or a kayak or two would really be awesome. All in all, though, we found it a very comfortable, quiet, scenic location for a week on lovely Marco Island.

I wonder if the previous reviewer meant to say Tigertail Beach is *not* great. Very rustic beach, and still $8 parking. I agree it's better to just pay the $9 to park across from the Marriott and access the beach there. (Since there's no pool or kayaks, I think a couple bikes would be a super helpful tradeoff.)

We also went kayaking with Dreamlander Tours, starting at Caxambas Park (which we also visited many times to buy bait and watch the pelicans and other fishermen). Saw lots of dolphin! I must also mention the Wednesday farmer's market: awesome!! I wish they'd have it Sundays also. Best butterscotch bread there, and grapefruits, mangoes, and Murcott honey tangerines (swoon!), ripe sweet corn and gorgeous red tomatoes in April!, and fresh lobsters, shrimp and "crabby cakes" (what a deal!). Excellent market. Can't wait to go back!

Canal Home

  • 4 of 5

The home was as advertised and owner is very helpful. I would rent again especially if I brought my boat.

The home itself has a nice layout and is well stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms. You can see there has been a lot of recent improvement work done inside the home such as the kitchen and the flooring. There is still a few smaller cosmetic items that are not 100%. The mattresses were just ok, but the air-conditioning, cable, wi-fi all worked well.

The yard appeared as though no one had done any work yet this year on the plantings, which would make the outside appearance more appealing. It was beautiful watching the moon rises over the canal as well as twilight skies. Check out the huge park at the end of the street with mile plus walking path, dog parks, sports courts, kids playground, and rec. center.

We found that beach access was unusually restrictive. The public beach at tiger tail is great. A better option we learned was to pay the $10 at the Marriott and access the beach there as it is very close to this home.

We did the key west express experience. Key West was a great day, but you really need a few days to take it all in.

We did Billy Corey Airboat and that was very entertaining, seeing lots of wildlife as well as an exciting ride.

Also went to botanical garden in Naples which was amazing.

For golf we played Four Mustangs coarse which was a great coarse. The greens were fasts and the coarse was in great shape. The fairways were forgiving enough for someone who had not played in several months. Carts had top of the line GPS instruments. We played after 2pm for around $70 including cart.

Two of our favorite places where the Crab something in Good Land and Snooks on Marco.

If you want to do some fishing with a charter I recommend Making Memories captain Bill Jones for Tarpon and backwater. Spend an hour fighting 100# plus Tarpon! He has been on Florida Sportsman TV series as a featured captain.

Enjoy and remember the sun screen.
