Brian O'Keefe owns Mooretown Sawmill as well as several rental properties in the local mountain area. Born and raised in Mooretown, Brian had a dream of carving out the land and creating a successful sawmill.
His dream became a reality in 1987. Mooretown Mill is located in the beautiful mountains of Northeast Pa. near the unforgettable Rickett's Glen State Park. Here at Mooretown, we use local timber to produce a quality product.
That same product and craftsmanship can be found in all of Brian's rental properties producing a beautiful rustic feel. He takes great pride in the quality of his work and enjoys sharing that with others.
All of our renters will tell you that Brian will go out of his way to ensure your stay is unforgettable.
In his spare time (if any) he enjoys jaunts on his KTM motorcycle, and is an active member in many organizations dealing with educating the youth of PA in the logging industry; his passion and joy.
He lives at Mooretown with his Black Labs, Echo and Bear Cub.
Brian purchased this house in 2009
You can't beat this location if you are looking for a get-away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! Cozy, quiet, rustic, yet local to any outdoor activities enough to keep you busy! Enjoy the outdoors all year long!
The cabin is fully equipped. No need to pack everything just to get away for a mountain vacation. All the amenities and yet you don't have to 'rough it'. Rickett's Glen state park hosts over 1 million visitors a year. Our property is minutes from the Park. Enjoy hiking over 22 waterfalls, kayaking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, hunting or just enjoying some good local BBQ and be minutes away from kicking back in front of the fireplace or out in the pavilion.
These guys know what they're doing. This cabin is the perfect advertisement for the sawmill that the owners run. Inside and outside - they thought of everything. Modern amenities make you feel right at home. The woodwork on the inside is as beautiful as the land it's on. Outside was just as inviting as the inside - the firepit, the pavilion, the stream, the huge picnic table. The owners took nature's gifts and amplified them perfectly. Three of us stayed here for some fishing and hiking and I hope to do it again next year. But before then, some time sooner rather than later, I'd like to get up there again with my kids.
We booked this cabin at the last minute for a fishing weekend with friends. At first sight it looks like any other cabin, but when we opened the door and stepped inside we were all blown away. Everything is modern and well taken care of. The layout is spacious and user friendly. The use of rough cut lumber and barn beams is spectacular! I found myself staring at the ceiling and looking at all the great detail. The giant saw blade and mill related tools are interesting as well. Large kitchen and living room are a plus. There is a nice fire pit behind the cabin next to a small stream. There is a gas grill and picnic table as well. The view is amazing all around. A great location that has many nearby attractions such as Ricketts Glen state park and waterfalls, Eagles Mere, Worlds End state park, etc. I plan on booking this cabin for our annual fishing trip from now on. Easy rental transaction and friendly owners make it even more attractive.
We were truly amazed when we walked in the front door and saw the woodwork that adorns almost every square inch of the cabin. The rooms are large enough to feel spacious but adorned in a way to still feel cozy. We had a great time and never felt more at home in a rental. The owners are kind and responsive, and we can't wait to go back in warmer weather to enjoy the fire pit and grill. And if you're into hiking, some of the most wonderful paths and waterfalls can be accessed nearby.
This rental is like anticipating your favorite ice cream Sundae as it is placed down in front of you. Taste buds firing as you take in the beauty that it is. And then you take a spoonful of it ... ahhhhh, perfect! That is this cabin. Perfect. For family with young kids or teenager (got both). For those who want a quiet out of the way retreat in the woods. Or for those who desire adventure, as it is right next to Ricketts Glen State Park, miles of hiking, and 20+ waterfalls. A beautiful experience that begins when you open the front door.
Our family (husband, I and two teenage daughters) stayed here for a weekend getaway in early October. The cabin is conveniently located 2 miles from Ricketts Glen State Park. From the moment I booked the cabin, the owner was very attentive in answering every question I had and making me feel very welcomed. When we arrived Friday night, we were greeted with a welcome gift on the kitchen counter! The cabin is tastefully decorated with many antique finds and the owner's pride and care really shine through. Although it rained all day on Saturday, the living room is very large that we did not feel crammed and we had fun playing board games. There is good wifi and cell signals in the cabin (you won't get either at the cabins inside the State Park), which my kids really appreciate. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and look forward to staying here again in the future.
We had a great time at the cabin. It was a cuzy, comfortable and a great place to stay. We enjoyed great fires in the back yard fire pit and the falls were beautiful at Rickets Glen. Brain and Stephenie were great communicating with us before the visit and available when we needed them. I would love to come back and would recommend this place to anyone.
