About the property

Studio on Ocean, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

365 sq ft studio with a king size bed and full kitchen and bathroom with shower. Nothing fancy, but clean, and comfortable, modern studio right on the water with ocean access on calm days. It's just right for two people who don't need a lot of living space. There is a covered area outside with shade and a table with chairs for dining or just relaxing while watching the sea. Milolii Beach Lots Subdivision is located 50 miles south of the Kona Airport.

This is a Wonderful - Right on the Oceon - Cottage! Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cottage for 2 weeks! It was perfect. To us being on the Pacific Ocean where the waves crashed against the lava right in front of us, the breeze flowing through our cottage and the sun giving us nice glowing tans is wonderful. I have not even mentioned the beautiful sunsets. Sitting on the wall in the evenings, (while my boyfriend stoked up the charcoal grill) and watching the sunset together completed our adventurous days. We snorkeled, read books, danced, laughed alot, watched 3 whales and had the time of our lives.

Everything was great. The bed was soft, the bathroom was nice, the washer and dryer (priceless) worked great. I am glad we found this place, thank you for having it available for us to vacation there.

One other thing, listening to the whales at night was awesome, RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!!!

Comfortable place with the view!

  • 4 of 5

If you're looking for a basic, comfortable and cozy place with a view that is away from it all...this is the place. Our small family of three thoroughly enjoyed spending time by the water stacking lava rocks and watching the waves crash. There was a bit of a snag with the water supply. However, Jon was quick to respond and tried to make things working again for us. He also has offered some refund for the inconvenience we went through. We hope to come back in the near future!

Off the beaten track... and awesome

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this place. We were attracted by other people’s reviews about it being off the beaten track and that is certainly true - the fairly long and very windy road down to Milioli’i is a fun challenge and severely limits the number of tourists that you’ll see. Being there in February, the waves were unfortunately too high for us to swim or get the kayaks in the water, but we spent many hours just sitting on the lava rock and watching the big waves crash in and the occasional whale put on a show for us. Sunsets were spectacular and having a BBQ dinner after dark in the nicely lit outdoor dining area with the moonlight, the incredible star display, and the sound of crashing waves is a memory that we’ll never forget. While the living space is small, the two of us never felt cramped and it is equipped with everything you can think of needing. The detailed photos are very accurate and representative.

Amazing, Quiet Experience

  • 5 of 5

We found Jon's little studio/cottage to be exactly as described. It was an exceptional way to be right on the ocean without having to be in the middle of the tourist scene. The cottage was clean and comfortable and the amenities were just right. We were able to enjoy wonderful sunset dinners each night on the extended patio and breakfasts watching for whales. Jon was fantastic. Following a rainstorm that knocked out power to the entire area he made sure that we had everything we needed. (We did.) Regrettably, we didn't use the kayaks-next trip we will!

I will say that if you are looking for a beach with easy access to more tourist-type fare, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for an experience that lets enjoy the surroundings and the water, this place is an absolute must. We will be back for a longer stay th next time. 😀򐀼󝌴

Amazing beach shack - clean, cute, and has everything you could need!

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I just returned from a lovely week at Jon's beach shack down in Milolii. We even extended our rental by 3 days because we just weren't ready to leave yet. The place was extremely clean and well taken care of, I was very impressed. We enjoyed all ofour meals on the patio, looking at the water and listening to the sound of the waves. We slept outside on the futon every night, even though the bed inside is huge and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, including a blender and coffee grinder. Two houses down there are stairs for you to access great snorkeling. We had some lovely days at HONOMALINO bay (near deserted black sand beach) which is very close to house. The neighborhood is extremely quiet + sleepy, with the sound of the ocean you don't even hear the 1-2 cars that drive by during the day. Property is also located within reasonable driving distance for all the popular tourist spots on the island (two-step, volcano, south point). We are scuba divers and enjoyed 3 great dives from Milolii Beach Park.

We loved this place because it allowed us to be right on the ocean and enjoy a peaceful week away from it all. Next time we come, we will stay here again.

Oceanfront studio, more like shed looking at a water tank between the shed and the ocean. What was advertised as a sleep 3 room, was really a shed with only TWO pillows. Sleeps 3? Yes, there was an air mattress, but no pillow for the 3rd person. We walked inside and it looked fine, but there was a dirty comb on the bed, sand in the sheets, dirty soap bar in the bathroom with hair on it, dead cockroaches, TWO live cockroach, and bugs in the bed. We are pretty low maintenance people, so we killed the bugs and went to sleep (one of us using a tshirt for a pillow). We resolved to deal with the bugs, but when we woke up, there were ANTS EVERYWHERE! we didn't even bring food to attract the ants. The worst part was our car was COVERED in ants. Outside and inside. Thousands of them. It took us two hours to attempt to get the ants out of our car. We could not even stand on the ground outside of the shed for 5 seconds without ants crawling all over your feet. It was a nightmare.

We packed up all of our stuff and left right away (two hours later with ants still everywhere), called the owner at least 5 times and left a message. NO RESPONSE. Still waiting for VRBO to contact me in hopes of a refund.

To be fair, if this place was clean, it would have been a great quaint little stay. Unfortunately that was not the case. Unless you want to wake up with a million bug bites and deal with getting ants out of your car for three days, I DO NOT recommend this place.

We spent SO much more time, energy, and money trying to clean our car and stuff to get rid of the ants. Definitely not worth the extra spending.

The only reason I gave 1 star was to make sure it showed up. I would 100% give this place a rating of ZERO!

Owner's Response: My friends stayed a week and did a lousy job of cleaning up after themselves! I didn't even check. The studio has been thoroughly cleaned since Ms. White left. I fell behind in the weekly bug spray and mouse glue traps. But I'm back on top of this now, thanks to Ms. White. I did return Ms. White's call but she didn't answer. I should have entered her into my contacts because when she called back I thought she was marketers so I didn't answer. I will always enter my guest into my contacts from now on. I do texts too. I put an extra pillow in the studio. I can't explain the car ants. I have parked there countless times over the years, I get red cinder in my car. I never thought about the water tank blocking the view from the studio. When I bought the property I tried to move it but it wouldn't fit anywhere else on the property... legally anyway. Property set back rules. The view is good from outside under the tarp with the tank behind you. That's the spot to spend your time. Don't sit in the studio staring past the water tank. Sit outside on the futon under the tarp where there's a 180 degree view of the ocean. Watch for dolphins and whales, relax and enjoy the warmth of the sun and the sound of the waves.
