5 bedroom, 4 bath home located right on the water.
I'm an architect who grew up in the area and wanted a place for my far-flung siblings and family to be able to return to. But when we're not here it's a chance to share the lake experience with others.
Ted purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Ted chose Huron
The view is incredible, and you are right on the water in this house. The open floor plan on the ground level really takes advantage of this relationship. Additionally, the bedrooms are very private upstairs and have some of the best views.
What makes this Cottage unique
The waterfront location with stunning lake views along with convenient access to Cedar Point, Kalahari and Sawmill Creek. Additionally, the house has 5 bedrooms, can accommodate 14 people and is pet-friendly.

Problems on top of problems
The owner is very nice and accommodating, but I wish we had chosen a different vacation rental. 2-3 weeks before arrival we were told that the house wasn't ready, but they had a backup plan 2 houses down. We would have ended up in a hotel or changing our plans to go somewhere else because there was no where else to rent. We were still pretty encouraged even though the house was smaller and we had less rooms to fit everyone.
Once we were at the backup plan property the problems did not end. First the shower upstairs wasn't working, then my mom got bug bites all over her legs after laying in the daybed in the sunroom. We were then told it was probably spiders, which they knew was an ongoing issue, but we were never told this beforehand. After this the sink in the bathroom downstairs stopped working.
The view is amazing. That is the one thing besides the owner's responsiveness that saved this property and I gave it extra stars for that.
There's not much I can say for this exact property since we did not get to stay in it due to construction issues, but I can say that you will have an amazing view. Also, the house keeper lives right next door.
I'm very sorry that some of the things in the substitute house didn't work as expected. Because of the numerous weather-related construction delays we did our best to get a good substitute house and provided the partial discount, which seems to have worked out OK for most of the guests. But our place is pretty unique, so replacing it was a challenge and I really appreciate our neighbor's help. But our new place will not have any of those issues. Thanks for taking the time to review and I hope that you still have some good memories.
July 2019 stay
Nice house and great location. We had fun! Thanks
Excellent location! Incredible views!
Great family house on the water with beautiful views, minutes from Sawmill Creek and Cedar Point.
Great property, room to spread out and we will be back!
Stayed in substitute home
The house we were to stay in became unavailable because renovations in process showed structural issues. Ted was kind to find us a lovely home 2 doors down, also on the waterfront, to rent through him. It was very clean, well- stocked and very dog friendly with dog beds and toys available. I just gave an average rating to accuracy of the listing because this was a different home than we originally contracted for. When his house became unavailable, Ted let me know more than a month ahead of time and offered a refund, but this was a good substitute. We enjoyed our short time there.
Great Place for a Getaway
Old home right on the water with a great view. Very comfortable. Enough room for the 6 people in our group. Plenty of parking. Hot, hot shower. Nice bar. Loved it!
Only drawback was it could use a good cleaning. Even the coffee cups in the cupboard had old coffee in them. Get the cleaning service to up their game and I'd give it 5 stars!
Thanks for the review, I'm glad that you liked the house and enjoyed your stay!
There was a very bad storm and some flooding right before you came and my housekeeper did a yeoman's job of getting the house ready in time. But it appears that not quite everything got taken care of, so sorry about that! With the new raising of the house there won't be any more water issues and a more normal workload every week.
