While the interior of the home was pretty much as advertised, the beautiful garden terrace displayed on the web site was obviously not a recent photo. I arrived to find the garden terrace was actually an active construction site! There is not even a curtain on the back window. Instead of enjoying a quiet garden terrace, you will be awoken to the sound of power tools and the site of construction workers looking thru your back window. If you are renting this property in 2015 be warned! They didn't look like they were going to be done any time soon. Also the owner conveniently didn't speak English as he states on his listing.
The apartment is on Paseo De Gracia which is one of the great shopping streets in Barcelona and close to several of Gaudi's creations. The metro is close so it is easy to get around town without a car. The Bari Gotic and the Rambla are a short walk away. I don't know how we could have had a better location. The apartment was comfortable. The owner didn't communicate well which made getting into the property for the first time difficult as he did not answer emails requesting information. Once that difficulty was behind us we enjoyed our stay very much.
This place had extensive water damage in the bathrooms, and was generally badly kept. While there, a rainstorm caused a plant on the small deck to fall and break its pot and a nearby light to which Owner had attached it. Owner didn't show up for meeting to let us into garage, we had to call his translator. Decent people, but not worth premium price. Location is good however.
we had a pleasant stay in this place.. quiet, cozy and with all the comforts of a modern apartment.
funny story, we found out photos of a famous movie star in the hall and asked them whether also spent some time there, and the answer was yes!
We were 5 people to stay at this flat for 4 nights, and it was just perfect. The living room is as big as you imagine from the pics, and the main room upstairs with its separate bathroom is awesome! Of the other two rooms upstairs one has 2 single beds, the other one single bed. These are small rooms, and they share a bathroom with a shower. but since the living is so big, no one from our party minded the small rooms, since you only sleep there.
The only thing a bit disappointing is the terrace, since there was no umbrella when we were there which made it impossible to stay on the terrace during the day. But then again, we slept during the day (Sonar 2014), or you will be visiting the city. (By the way, there’s absolutely no noise during the day ;))), perfect to sleep thru the day ha ha). And in the evening the terrace is ok... it's not big (personally I think impossible for 8), but for us 5 it was just perfect.
The situation is just perfect as well, you're in front of the metro and really in the centre of the city. There's also a taxi stand right around the corner, and if you are looking for shopping, well just step outside and get started. Also there's a Cortes Ingles nearby for good food shopping.
The owners are nice and helpful, the flat is very well equipped (hairdryer, laundry, 2 TVs, everything is modern, almost new), so do not hesitate to rent this apartment, it is worth the price. However, in my opinion don't be more than 5, otherwise the loft will lose some of its appeal due to overcrowding.
L'immeuble est en travaux, l'appartement ne dispose plus de sa terrasse ni de son balcon. Des échafaudages sont présent, le bruit du chantier de 8h à 18h30 et cerise sur le gâteau la baie vitrée est protégée par un occultant ce qui implique que l'appartement est dans l'obscurité en pleine journée.
