A perfect Virgin Islands getaway!

Property type condo
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Upper Level Condo, 1 Bedroom + 2 Murphy Beds, 2 Baths (sleeps 4)

C-30, is an upper level front condo with one of the best views at Crystal Cove, a panoramic view of the sparkling turquoise Caribbean Sea and the verdant British Virgin Islands. It's amazingly serene even and so comfortable, that even sitting indoors feels like a great vacation! Many guests love to start their day walking along the landscaped paths, admiring the many colored tropical plants, spotting hummingbirds and butterflies. Others like myself, start the day with an early morning snorkel, swimming with many types of fish, rays and turtles!

The beach is a short walk from our doorstep. Diane, our lovely beach attendant will greet you and set you up with lounge chairs. Sapphire Beach is in a magnificent setting and the snorkeling is some of the best in the entire Caribbean. If you don't have your own snorkel, you can rent one, as well as other water sports equipment, like kayaks, steps away, right on the beach. There is also a large salt water pool and beautiful tennis courts on the property.

The condo is comfortably furnished. There is a king bed in the bedroom and 2 twin murphy beds in the living area. There are 2 bathrooms and a washer/dryer, brand new A/C, and ceiling fans. The kitchen is fully equipped for those, like us, who like to cook at home. We've got plenty of beach towels, and board games like cards, Scrabble and Rummy Q. There is a TV in the living room and one in the bedroom. FREE WIFI.

Crystal Cove is only a mile from Red Hook, where there are shops, restaurants, a grocery store, a pharmacy. Red Hook is also where the ferry to St. John and Tortola.

It is less than half and hour from the airport to Crystal Cove. Whether you take a taxi or rent a car, it is easy to get here. You will appreciate the tranquility of our location, with the convenience of nearby Red Hook. You will love our condo and love St. Thomas.

Guests return to Crystal Cove year after year for its tranquility, convenience and friendly atmosphere.

Nice place to enjoy St Thomas

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful area and a great beach. This was perfect for our family of four. One nice sized bedroom and two Murphy beds in the living room for the kiddos. A very short walk to the beach. A nice beach bar/restaurant there too which is nice. Two bathrooms which is always a plus! Gated. Laundry in the condo! Wifi is hooked up now too. The grounds are beautiful with all sorts of flowers and palms. Looks just like the pictures! The bed was a little firm but after a day of playing at the beach I always slept like a rock. Overall a really nice place to stay.

Week in Paradise

  • 4 of 5

We had a very enjoyable, relaxing, fun time in St. Thomas. The unit in which we stayed was close to the beach and the view was awesome. There were flowers, bushes and greenery all over the beautiful complex. We reapply appreciated walking a few steps to awesome snorkeling; walking to a close restaurant and fun beach bar with music; walking to a marina; there was so much to see and do within close walking distance. At the beach, Diane was so friendly and helpful. The condo staff was also very friendly, as were the iguanas and the chickens! The condo itself was dated, but adequate. After all, how much time do you spend indoors when you're in Paradise? Can't wait to go back!!

Great Caribbean location and experience

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a low key week in the Caribbean with two teenagers. This condo was perfect. It is right on one of the nicest beaches, with a friendly attendant to set up chairs for you. Nice pool, tennis courts, and close to Red Hook for restaurants and supplies.

. . . and a great time was had by all!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this condo for a week and a half in February 2014, our third stay at Crystal Cove condos and the first in this unit. As I write this (Feb 2015), we are in another unit in the same condo complex. We waited until too late and someone had already booked this one, or we would be staying there again. Next year we'll be more prompt.

Obviously, we like these condos a lot. The beach is probably the best we've ever visited, and we have been to quite a few around the world. The snorkeling is good, although our experience has been better in April than in February. We've seen sea turtles, rays, lots of colorful fish that I can't identify, and what we believe was a barracuda. The grounds are well kept and the beach is always clean.

We never rent a car here. The safari taxi runs frequently and only costs $1 to Red Hook or $2 to Charlotte Amalie. Returning to the condo from Red Hook, however, requires a regular taxi as the safari taxis only go clockwise around the island. But still, it's only $4 per person. Can't really walk to Red Hook as most of the road is narrow with no shoulders and isn't really safe.

The condo unit itself is everything we need for a get-away to the beach. It's clean, well equipped and seems to be well maintained. Our only complaint was that the ceiling fan in the bedroom didn't work, so on a couple of nights it was still and warm and we had to use the air conditioning. The rest of the time a gentle breeze kept us cool. This being a second floor unit, we could keep the windows open without concern. The owner assured us the fan would be fixed, so I'm sure it has been.

We definitely recommend this unit (and this complex) to anyone who enjoys beaches and the island lifestyle.

Inside the gates of paradise! Highly recommend.

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I stayed at this condo for a week in late March '14. We wanted a vacation away from it all, adjacent to a beautiful beach and water, and this is EXACTLY what we got. The Crystal Cove property is a quaint, peaceful, self-contained slice of paradise; it feels like having your own beachfront compound on one of the most beautiful beaches you've seen. It's literally a 15-second walk to the sand from the condo. The unit itself is huge, really very big, with an fittingly huge master bedroom; we could easily have accommodated another family of 4 without feeling cramped. There are TVs in both the main room and the master; we only watched at night since the view out of the main room is of the spectacular ocean. The kitchen is fully functional; we bought all of our groceries at Food Centre in Red Hook, which is about a 5-minute ride on the $1/pp open air bus. The buses go right by the Crystal Cove gate very frequently; you just flag them down and ring the bell when you get where you're going (pay as you disembark). I would recommend bringing staples with you as they tend to be expensive (i.e. peanut butter if you want to make sandwiches). To get back, grab a cab for about $6-8/pp. The few meals we ate out were either at the burger joint, Tap & Still, in Red Hook, or the BBQ food truck parked right at the top of the hill outside the gate. There is a local Wifi network available for about $33/week (it's fully accessible from the beach but we could rarely get service inside the condo FYI.). There is a lot of debate about whether to rent a car; we didn't and wouldn't. If you want to go on an excursion the marina is in Red Hook and very accessible by bus. If you're looking for a high value vacation at a reasonable cost this a must. The owners are a breeze to deal with. We'll be back!

A memorable vacation in paradise

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this unit at Crystal Cove during the holiday season of 2013 and we had a terrific time.

The unit is at the upper floor of Building C of Crystal Cove, next door to Sapphire beach resort. Crystal Cove is not the resort but is better than that. It provides the same stretch of beach front, with less crowdedness and more family feeling. Building C faces the water directly. The window faces east and every morning you open the window blinds and a sunny day and turquoise water is in front of you. You walk past a lush green yard with waving palm trees, and you are right at the water front. You can swim or snorkel at one of the best beaches at St Thomas.

There is a beach front shop at Sapphire beach resort. You can rent stuff there, such as snorkel gears, kayak boat. The staff there was in general friendly.

The unit is spacious, about 1000 square feet in size, enough room for four people, and has great amenities. The entire unit is well decorated with quality taste. Master bedroom has a king size bed and there are two folding beds in the family room. It has two bath rooms so it provides convenience when you have three or four people. The well equipped kitchen has all the gadgets and utensils you would need or would not need. Air conditioning works great but it is needed for only a few hours a day. The rest of the time you can open the window shade and get ocean breeze. Both the bedroom and the family room are very comfortable with great sofas and chairs. The beds are in great quality.

Crystal cove is less than one mile away from the Red Hook ferry terminal where you can catch a ferry to St John or some of the British islands. Some of the British islands have the most exotic view, both above water and below water. Meanwhile St Thomas offers many beaches that are ideal to swim or snorkel for people from 2 years old to 102 years old.

The owner/manager was very responsive when I made inquiries. She was easy and pleasant to work with and provided a lot of information which we later found very useful.

I highly recommend this place and would definitely want to stay there again if we go back and visit St Thomas one day.

A couple of other things: Owner provides access code to the compound. To enter, a # sign is needed before entering the code. To exit, # sign is not needed. Occasionally there are power blips, so don’t count on the radio clock to wake you up.

Car: recommended

BREATHTAKING VIEWS!! This is an upper front unit in the C building and has a magnificent panoramic view of St. John and the BVI. Sipping your morning coffee, you look out at the beautifully landscaped Crystal Cove property, with palm trees swaying in the breeze, sea grape trees on the shore, and the green floating islands of Tortola and the other BVI. Or stroll down to the beach and start your day with the resident ducks and iguanas, and pelicans swooping down for their fresh catch. We like to take an early morning snorkel with the sea turtles and colorful fish who make Sapphire Beach one of the best snorkeling beaches in the Caribbean.

It's fun to enjoy the local restaurants, but our kitchen is well-equipped with all the things a cook needs. Red Hook has two excellent grocery stores and there are stands nearby for buying fruits, veggies, local fish and great bbq chicken.

The ferries to St. John and the BVI are 5 minutes away. There are great beaches to explore and excursions to take, but everyone agrees that Crystal Cove is special and there's no place like our beach. So, bring a bathing suit, a snorkel, and just relax!
