180 degree view from lanai! no wall blocking on right or left side 5 feet wider than most 1 bedrooms and all corner units. Book now for next winters whale season. Open Lanai !! no windows or screens enclosing.
Unit 805 is in the center section of the building on the eighth floor. This one bedroom unit consists of a lanai “outdoor patio”, living dining room area, complete fully stocked kitchen, bathroom, and a bedroom. New Sleeper sofa March 2013.
The Maui Kai amenities include heated pool, lounge sunning areas at pool and beach side of building, gas grills, cabana with full kitchen, internet computer for emails and boarding pass printouts, covered picnic tables for guest use, and laundry facilities.
My home is fully furnished and has a complete kitchen; everything you need is in the unit to make complete meals. A supermarket is a short walk or drive back out to Lower Honoapillani Rd.
The Condo has cable TV with HBO, CD Player, Ipod player, 50” Plasma TV in living room, 32” LCD TV in bedroom, King sized bed in bedroom, and makeup desk in bedroom.
The building has central air conditioning, not all buildings on Maui have ac the Maui Kai is comfortable regardless of the weather if on a warm night a cool night’s sleep is desired.
Many of our guests never feel the need for Air conditioning and enjoy leaving the windows open to listen to the ocean and feel the breeze. The Maui Kai is off the main road and traffic noise is nearly nonexistent when the bedroom windows are open. When the lanai doors are open all that is heard is the soothing sound of the ocean surf.
Having air conditioning and no road noise will assure a restful sleep and a quality vacation in the Maui Kai 805.

Owner and daughters 2012 -
Gary Pearce purchased this condo in 2013
It’s the perfect condo: Quite with a private lanai on the 8th story you are able to look down into the clear water and watch turtles and fish. 5 feet wider than most condos the extra space makes a difference it feels open and spacious.
Ten minutes from Lahaina and just a few from the restaurants of Whalers Village. Not to far from anything and the best unobstructed views of the ocean and outer islands on Maui
My husband and I recently spent two weeks at suite 805 of the Maui Kai and it was everything we had hoped for! It was amazing to walk in and the room was exactly as depicted in the photos on line. There was ambient lighting, music playing and a lovely basket of goodies waiting for us along with a welcome note. What an introduction! We noticed immediately how clean and immaculate everything was. We had such fun exploring every drawer and cupboard to find everything one could want in a well maintained condo. My husband, who did all the cooking, was delighted to discover every little detail one would need in a kitchen was not overlooked. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well with the a/C turned off and the screen doors open with the ceiling fans on. Like other reviews, it was soothing to hear the ocean waves crashing on shore. Of course the views from the large lanai did not disappoint! To say this condo has ocean front views is an understatement! One is literally overlooking the surf. The pictures are exactly what you see! And it is very private! We spent early mornings on the lanai - before the sun rose and gazed in awe at the glorious display of stars. Later in the afternoon, at sunset, the views again, were breathless. Dealing with Gary was a dream and he was very pleasant and accommodating. We felt he really cared. Restaurants, grocery stores and shopping malls are all within easy access. We walked down to Duke's one evening and drove into Lahaina to Ruth's Chris Steak House and took another short drive up to Kapalua to have sushi at the Ritz Carleton - each one first class. This was our first experience renting a condo on the Hawaiian Islands and we couldn't' be more impressed. We enjoyed snorkeling in the surf, but also loved the pool and the quiet atmosphere. We would definitely stay at the Maui Kai and specifically suite 805 again and would highly recommend this property to anyone who is considering a condo in West Maui.

This was a very comfortable one-bedroom condo in a great location with an outstanding lanai. The building is right on top of the water because there's no beach on the property. This makes the views from the west-facing lanai amazing. We soaked in many sunsets and spotted many turtles from above. If anything, the pictures don't do the spectacular view justice.
If you want to go to the beach, Kahekili Beach is literally just steps to the south, with Ka'anapali Beach just further south beyond that. The snorkeling off Kahekili Beach and Honokowai Point is quite good and relatively easy for beginners: we saw turtles, eels and a whole array of beautiful fish and coral. Black Rock is nearby too, but we avoided those crowds with arguably just as good snorkeling. The condo provided some basic snorkeling gear, but we ended up renting most of our equipment from Maui Dive Shop just five minutes down the road.
Lahaina is a relatively short drive away, as is Kapalua. The area around the condo is nice, there's grocery stores, liquor stores and restaurants all within a five minute drive. We walked down the beach a few hundred yards to Duke's for drinks several times. Driving to Kahului and the east or south side of Maui is definitely a haul from the location, but West Maui is such a beautiful place it's probably worth it. Among our favorite restaurants were Miso Phat, Merriman's and Mala Ocean Tavern (all within a 10-20 minute drive) and Mama's Fish House (which is a long drive). We had a great plate lunch at Da Kitchen after getting off the airplane, too.
The condo itself had a few problems. We experienced a fairly significant water leak from the ceiling of the bathroom, but Gary sent out someone to take care of it right away. The wind has a tendency to really kick up out of the east in the afternoon, which caused a persistent howling from the front door (which faces east). We ended up stuffing towels under the door which helped, but the doors could probably use some more robust weather stripping. We also found the refrigerator could be quite loud, I'm not sure if it's just an older model or needs repair. Otherwise, the condo worked well. The pictures are pretty representative. The bed and furniture were comfortable, the kitchen well-appointed and the electronics all worked great.
Gary was a responsive and welcoming host on the whole. We had a great visit and would definitely consider returning in the future.
We loved this condo. We have stayed at the Maui Kai many times but we had never attempted to see if any units were on VRBO. So when everything was booked up we tried it and wow what a lovely surprise!
We will always try to stay in the condo while visiting Maui!
My daughter and I loved the property. The direct ocean view was stunning. The beaches were wonderful. The condo was very clean, well decorated, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. I highly recommend it. I would definitely return.
The owner stocked this oceanfront condo with everything you need for a great beach vacation. He is responsive and answered all of our questions quickly.
This property is truly amazing, we had such a wonderful week stay. The place was so clean and organized
and provided everything necessary for a fun time in Maui. We were able to go snorkeling right out front of the
building, and see turtles and sting rays everyday. I would recommend this unit to anyone that wants a fun
stay in Maui.
Maui Kai is a Maui Revealed "Solid Gold Value." We have stayed in two units in Maui Kai and agree with the assessment, with Gary's being significantly nicer and more up to date. It would be tough to be disappointed in the Maui Kai based on the price for your stay and impossible to be disappointed with Gary's condo. He is a great host.
The pictures are spot on and the unit is in great shape with all the comforts of home. The ocean is as close as it appears with a sandy beach steps to the left, and to the right. There is a snorkeling beach an easy walk, and a great "aloha hour" next door at Duke's. We were there in March in whale season, and they were as advertised, straight off the lanai. The sun sets directly off the balcony as well.
Maui Kai is a roughly 1.5 mile walk down a boardwalk to the hotel area of Kaanapali Beach and a 6 mile round trip walk is available along mostly shoreline boardwalk. It is much more relaxed than the pace just a little south at the resorts. Grocery store and other necessities are a short walk up the street, as is the Omni-present ABC store.
We are changing a future reservation on the island and going back to Gary's place at Maui Kai. This is a very, very nice place to spend a vacation on Maui.
Maui Kai is the closest condo to the ocean in Kaanapali, Hawaii Magazine 2013 voted Ka’anapali it’s number one shoreline spot for Whale watching. This is the place to sit on your lanai and see whales. Lahaina is 10 minutes away by car. Historic Lahaina Town offers a myriad of Restaurants, Bars, Art Studios, clothing shops etc.
Also the Lahaina Marina offers Parasailing, Scuba and snorkeling trips, cruises, sport fishing, dolphin watching, whale watching trips in season.
