We only got to a few things on our to-do list, but those were very exciting! We snorkeled at the tide pools (Katie said snorkeling is her new thing), went to Uncle Robert's Wednesday night market, saw the volcano and hiked two miles out the emergency road to see the lava at night. That's not to mention the kids getting a couple of afternoons playing on the beach right around the corner. The coastal jungle environment is really stunning. We've come to love having geckos around the house after an initial startle.
We;ll miss this as we leave, and hope someday we can come back.

This is a beautiful house with ocean view. The great room was large and comfortable and the kitchen was well-appointed. The two lanai and an outdoor patio invited outdoor living.
The location is away from the most touristy parts of the Big Island but both Pahoa and Hilo are within easy reach. The famous Kehena black sand beach was only minutes away. And though we were on the rainy side of the Big Island, we were blessed with several days of nearly clear and warm Hawaiian weather.
The management was responsive before, during and after our stay. We would certainly stay here again.
This house has everything you need. The lanai is great for ocean viewing. The doors are screened and let in a nice breeze in the evening. Uncle Roberts is a short drive as is Pahoa. The drive along the coast is beautiful. The area is quiet. The yard is large and room for two vehicles in the driveway.
The house is spacious and attractive. Plenty of space and great landscape. The sites surrounding the house on the Red Road were great to visit as well. The hot springs, the cliff parks with dramatic crashing waves, the drive along the road, and the volcano beach are awesome sites. The lanai on the second floor has a great view of the sea. It made the last few days of our vacation great.
This was just a little slice of paradise! The house is beautiful and beautifully decorated and the grounds are gorgeous. A fragrant Plumeria tree is just outside the front door. It's also nice that the driveway accommodates two cars. The lanai provides a wonderful view of the ocean and you can enjoy the trade winds in the evening as you enjoy a glass of wine. Down the road is a wonderful beach with a man-made "swimming pool" that leads out to the ocean - a long warm swim. If you get down to Pahoa, don't miss the fabulous calamari at Kaleo's! Can't wait to go back!
This home is an absolutely amazing home to have as an accommodation on The Big Island!! It's clean, open, very spacious with one bed room upstairs and one down stairs. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and huge yard. Also, it's very private and quiet, perfect for a special get away. The views of the ocean are gorgeous from either of the balconies and you could leave the windows and balcony door open to hear the waves crashing all night long. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook, minus the food of course. Also, the yard is lush and beautiful. It was very nice to have a pleather a tv channels and also free Wifi during our stay. Surrounded by lots of activities and things to do. We would definitely stay at this home again!!
Aloha! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the big island of Hawaii and having this house as a base for our daily explorations made it all the better. The pictures and description of the house are completely accurate and I might add both the main floor and master bedroom open to Lanai and/or deck via doors that allow for a completely open room, if you so desire. Amenities are great, with the full kitchen, for example, which gave us the opportunity to “stay put” and fix our meals at home as we like to cook. But we did find some great food very close by in Pahoa at the Tin Shack Bakery in the morning and fine dining at Kuleo’s for dinner. The house is located on the old Red Road that offers a variety of swimming and snorkeling spots, important as most of the ocean access is not suitable for casual swimming. It is also close enough to Hilo for ventures in to the farmer’s market and other stops on the east side of the island. If you are looking for a “non-touristy” place to visit and stay in Hawaii, consider doing so on the big island in this house. We would definitely come again. Mahalo!
