Really nice cottage... Great area... Bar is awesome
Cottage was as described and more. So much to do - karaoke, cinema, board games, darts, books, golf, badminton and that was only in the grounds, Children loved the hens that roamed freely and we all enjoyed the free range eggs. There were two very friendly cats. The area is very beautiful and the owners were very welcoming. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.
A really great property. We had a 3 year old with us who loved the 'cinema'. The bar was a great source of entertainment. And the house is full of games books and DVDs. We really had a great week. Thanks.
A big thank you to Gabreil and Janet for taking your time with us to help us plan our stay. We where a party of five and we all got to see and do most of what we wanted. The cottage is spacious, clean, cosy and beautifully laid out, ! We had lots of fun playing darts of a evening in the private bar (Swallows nest) attached to the cottage. Loved the whole rustic look of the whole lay out. We also loved the idea of the vegatable garden where we helped ourselves to the homegrown produce and fresh eggs every morning for breakfast. Lovely place for walking around the area and the beachs are beautiful.
We would recommend this to all family friends.
Great holiday all round!
We were attracted to this rental for the beautiful countryside of Gorey . As it turned out, we didn't need to leave the property grounds. With the typical Irish rainy weather, we were not stuck looking out the window. There were books and board games for young children, a bar for the adults and karaoke for all. Both the cottage and the bar have charming detail everywhere you look. When the weather was more promising, there were many nice spots in the gardens to sit and enjoy the peaceful quiet and the view. The guestbook had details of a delightful river walk, which we ventured on one evening – its starts right outside the house. I wholeheartedly recommend this holiday home , we’ll definitely be back later in the year.
We just returned from a month in the Allen's lovely farmhouse near Gorey. The house is PERFECT--the description was accurate in every way. It was very comfortable for the 4 adults and child in our traveling party, and would have accommodated up to three in each bedroom easily. It is a two-story property, if that is a concern to anyone, but it was fine with us. In fact, our daughter learned to climb stairs while we were there, which is a great memory for us!
Washer/dryer, satellite TV, dishwasher, oven, gorgeous grounds (we particularly enjoyed talking with the lady of the house about her gardening). The owner's house is next door, which affords privacy if desired.
There is a view of the ocean from the house. The house is down a long lane a couple of kilometers from Gorey, so a car would be important. It is really conveniently located off the M11, which made navigation easy. That was a nice surprise.
Super (driving) access to several different blue flag (highest quality) beaches, the closest of which is Courtown, a charming seaside town.
The karaoke/dartboard/bar area provided a lot of fun, and yes, the description of the chit tab was the case--so fun.
We found the owners charming and delightful as well as fascinating and appreciated the conversations spanning politics in the middle east to video editing software. Their daughter was incredibly sweet -- our trip was definitely enhanced by the whole family's kindness.
As for activities we particularly enjoyed, the seishun at French's pub in Gorey is well-known, and we were touched by the songs & stories at the Ár mBreacha House of Story. The 1798 Centre in Enniscorthy was one of the most interesting and compelling museum displays we've seen, as was the Famine Exhibit at Johnstown Castle. Also, the 17th century water mill at Craanford was really fascinating.
All in all, it was fantastic! We would definitely return to the property again, and hope that the owners will visit us at some point.
