===The Beach ===
This condo is less than 300 steps to Kamaole Park III Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world (gentle surf, breathtaking beauty, full time lifeguards). Yelp gives it 5/5 stars. Excellent for swimming & snorkeling or just relaxing while the sun warms your skin.
=== The Condo ===
This 1,100 sq. ft. condo features 2 bedrooms (1 Queen and 2 twins) with ample closet space and 2 bathrooms. It has a living & dining room with vaulted ceiling providing a wide spacious area with a fully equipped kitchen. This condo is strategically located at the closest end to the beach in the Building 7 and the lanai has two open sides. The building 7 is the second closest building to the beach in the complex. As a result, this unit is quiet unaffected by noise from the street despite closeness to the beach unlike building 1 or 8 the closest to the beach. The lanai provides you a spectacular unobstructed view toward ocean as well as toward Haleakala Mountain in serenity, since our condo is located at the closest end to the beach in building 7 with no obstacle in front with two open sided lanai, unlike overwhelming majority of other units and those with lanai having only one open side in the complex. The ocean view from our lanai is one of the best, the best in my opinion, in the complex. This condo is located on the south side (Wailea side) of the complex and thus the lanai is in the shade nearly all day year round enabling you to enjoy relaxing afternoon on the lanai indulging in majestic ocean view in serenity, unlike those units on the northern side of the complex (Building 1,2,3,4) where the lanai is directly exposed to strong tropical afternoon sunlight. All in all, the location of our condo is the best in the complex. Recently the unit was updated with new furniture, front load washer & dryer, flat screen TV’s, free WiFi and wired internet access and more. The kitchen is fully equipped, cable television on each level, ceiling fan in every room and a/c in each bed room. In October 2013 a new low back friendly mattress was installed in all beds along with a new bed cover. In June 2014 both bathrooms were entirely updated and modernized through complete renovation.
You will find everything working and in good condition; no surprises. You can expect a stress free, relaxing sun soaked vacation in this recently renovated and updated comfortable place.
This is a NON SMOKING unit. While pets can be an important part of your family, unfortunately no pets are allowed.
=== The Complex ===
Not only is this condo close to the beach, it is also located in the beautifully landscaped Hale Kamaole Complex, an 8 acre facility just a few minutes north of Wailea on Maui’s Sunny South Shore.
This complex is located in a very desirable part of Maui, southern end of Kihei, just across the street from the beach of Kamaole Park III. It is within 1.5 mile of world renowned resorts such as the Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort and the Four Seasons Maui – Wailea.
Our complex has 2 pools (with beautiful views); community grills, tennis court, elevators, tour desk and relaxing and spacious landscapes of palm trees, plumeria and hibiscus.
=== Nearby ===
Within a minute walk you are at the beach. A scenic 10-15 minute walk will take you shops, restaurants. The boat ramp for tours to Molokini and many diving, snorkeling and whale watching charters is a 3 minutes walk. Wailea golf courses (Blue, Emerald and Gold) are 1.5 miles away.
=== The City of Kihei ===
Kihei is just North (and next to) of Wailea, a well-known tourist destination with luxury hotels, shopping and great golf courses. It is about a 20 minute drive from Kahului Airport . Kihei- Wailea area is known to have predictably sunny and dry climate without evening shower which is typical to many other parts of the island.
Here you will find a relaxed lifestyle, beautiful beaches, great diving, snorkeling, local golf and memorable sunsets.

Location, Location, Location. Kihei-Wailea area is sunny and dry nearly all year around without evening shower which is characteristic to the most other area of Maui. Hale Kamaole is a beautifully landscaped spacious resort complex on the 8 acre land, located directly across the street from the open portion of Kamaole Park III and is steps away from the one of the safest beaches for swimming and snorkeling on the island. Our condo is one of the closest to the beach in the complex but is not affected by the traffic noise from the street. It has one of the best unobstructed view of Lanai Island and West Maui on the horizon toward ocean in the complex and beautiful view of Haleakala Mountain toward land from the lanai. We can enjoy a great view of sunrise and sunset from our lanai in serenity!!
My family of 4 (two boys, 8 and 10) stayed for four nights and had a great time. We enjoyed walking to the beach for amazing snorkeling -- saw beautiful sea turtles every time we snorkeled -- and playing in the waves. The boys enjoyed having their own room upstairs and there was plenty of room to relax. We also met some great folks while using the community grills near the unit. Everyone was extremely friendly, including the office staff.
The location is excellent for day trips to other fun spots in Maui, or to walk to nearby beaches, restaurants and more. The place has everything you need to make the most of Maui. I'd definitely recommend this spot and return again. Additionally, the owner was easy to work with, very responsive and made sure we had a great visit.
We just spent 7 days here at Hale Kamaole. First time for the kids to Hawaii and they loved it. The condo is in a great location. I spent every morning on the lanai sipping coffee and looking at the view of the water while I took advantage of the WiFi to get some work done. The kids could walk across to the beach (south end of Kam III) without us since it was so close. Kam III is a great beach for snorkeling to the left and wave play to the right. We saw turtles both from the water and from the rocks! We walked from the condo into town for breakfast and shopping. We drove up to Lahaina one day for more touristy stores. We drove down to Wailea and Makena for the Luau and Church, respectively. Great little church!!
Is this condo fancy? No. Does it have fancy dishes, etc.? No. But it was clean, comfortable, affordable, no cleaning fee, no service fee, no deposit, etc. Nice owner. Great location. Nice grounds, etc.
We will certainly consider coming back here if/when we return to Maui!

We had the pleasure of staying in this condo for 8 nights. We are a family with 3 young children and this property provided us with everything we needed. There is plenty of space so we were not under each others feet, all the facilities young families need, the beach on your front doorstep, lovely neighbours and one of the most beautiful locations to enjoy! This property has a true community feel to it, with a mix of residents and holiday makers alike, so it feels very much like a home away from home. The owners of this condo are true to their word and, very easy and pleasant to deal with. This was our first time booking through VRBO and dealing directly with an owner so we were somewhat sceptical however, there proved to be absolutely no cause for concern. We look forward to having the pleasure of returning to Maui and hopefully staying in this condo again someday!
We were lucky enough to head back to Maui for a second year in a row. The owners having learned that last year was a honeymoon reached out to us and sent us a nice gift to mark our recent nuptials. This thoughtful gift notwithstanding, it was a simple choice to return to the same accommodations, so we could return and finish all our unfinished Maui adventures. What struck me about the condo and its location was walkability. You can head into Kihei for comfort food or easily get to the near by luxury resorts in nearby Wailea to jog through incredible resorts on the way to long stretches of open beach, or treat your self to the high end restaurants. Hale Kamole is right on the border of these two very different towns but reflects the quiet serenity of the Waileaas it is just far away enough from the stores, bars and shops up Kihei road.
My husband I highly recommend this rental for its home like qualities - we saved a grip by cooking at home - and its serene but very convenient location.
We spent 9 days on Maui and felt that this condo gave us great access to all the things we wanted to do. Kihei is a great place to start from to do anything on the island! The condo is quiet and the other guests/residents were very friendly. We spent quite a bit of time at the Kamaole III beach across the street (a quick walk) and a little time at the pool (which was usually too warm, but the weather was a hotter than normal while we were there). There is access to great snorkeling right south of the ocean entry at the beach where we saw many sea turtles in the mornings and a manta ray in the evening.
The deck is perfect for watching the sunset and playing a family game or reading a book in the afternoon or morning!
The condo's two bathrooms have been beautifully remodeled. The condos have some interesting rules though. Although they have AC units in the bedrooms, the rules say you cannot run them over night. Knowing we would be there in the summer, we chose the bedroom units for comfortable sleeping, so that was not ideal for us.
The washer/dryer was so helpful! It is nice to wash the ocean out of the towels and suits after a couple days and it also makes it much easier to pack lightly. With baggage fees, the W/D saved us a bunch.
The kitchen made it very nice to have breakfast and lunch in the condo and the option to reheat the night before's leftovers too. Lots of others grilled out at the 4 spot grill by the pool.
We were unsure if there were beach towels, but there should now be 8, because we took four and left them for future use, but there were 4 there waiting for us. Also they should now have two beach chairs, as we left one of those we purchased. Although it is stated they have a cooler for use, please know that it is a small soft-sided lunchbox size. It is easy to purchase or rent coolers for the week.
We hope this does not sound too critical or negative, but we have traveled quite a bit and always like to know as much as possible about the VRBO's we rent. Thanks to the owners for sharing their home away from home with us. Maui was definitely a wonderful vacation spot!
This was my first time to Hawaii, but more importantly it was my honeymoon. After our wedding we are very conscious about money and wanted to avoid having to go out every night to restaurants, therefore, a kitchen was a must. After checking in and checking out the condo we were pleasantly surprised to find the kitchen well equipped with an open airy feeling. The first thing we did was hop back in the car and buy some groceries at a supermarket just up the road to prepare lunch/dinner - the shift in timezones resulted in us combining the two. After preparing a quick meal we went out to the lanai where we were treated to a lovely sunset meal for two. We did end up eating out a couple of times but opted to stay in more often than not. The kitchen, utensils and amenities, especially the washer and dryer, gave the place a real feeling of home, except our home has showers which are decades old and this place had brand new showers and fixtures which were much nicer than I have experienced while staying in resort. All in all we were ecstatic with our stay for many reasons not least of all because the condo was really a home away from home.
