About Joe Pappaly / Mimi

We are Joe & Mimi, the owners who live in the main house upstairs in this beautiful Victorian. We purchased this house in 2012, did some major renovation and decided to rent out the units below as vacation rentals. We would love to share our home with you and even give you some insights as to what to do, where to go and be of help if you are unsure of how to get around in the Bay Area, during your stay with us.

Joe Pappaly / Mimi purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Joe Pappaly / Mimi chose The Bay Area

We bought this property because we always wanted to live in a victorian and we simply love Alameda. The people, the weather, the proximity to everything and most of all the tranquility of this island.

What makes this apartment unique

We chose this particular property because of its unique Victorian look & feel of it. This home was built in 1891 by Peter Christiansen who was a very well known builder during his time. History books claim that he had built several Victorian homes in Alameda. This particular home that he had built was for himself. Historians claim that because of that, he used the best types of wood and construction materials available during his era to build this home. It sure seemed like that during our major remodel.

Cozy, Clean Apartment

  • 5 of 5

One of the best and well equipped vacation rentals that we have visited.

All communication with Joe was easy, and during our stay he was very helpful.

The neighborhood was quiet and an easy walk into the downtown Alameda area.

Highly recommended.

Thank you Joe!

Aloha,

Dave and Mary

Enjoyed our stay. Highly Recommend!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Joe and Mimi's place. Very convienient getting back and forth from San Francisco on the San Francisco Bay Ferry ( it takes longer than you think to use public transportation in San Fran so give yourself lots of time to get to the ferry building. We almost missed the last ferry out!) Joe warned us traffic was awful in SF and he was correct but there's no getting around it if you want to drive over GG bridge to Muire Woods which we highly recommend. Joe was very helpful and excellent in communication. Appreciated being able to check in a bit early. Accommodations were perfect and comfy and clean with chocolates and wine for us! Had everything we needed in safe area . Highly recommend!

Quiet, safe, clean & convenient.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in unit B for two nights while visiting the city. The property is in good working order, clean and well maintained. Comfortable bed and cozy towels. The owners have done a good job with the space. We didn't use the kitchen but I can't imagine there was anything missing. Only a 20-30 minute From San Francisco but has a small town feel. We would definitely return if we are ever in the area without our kids again. Thank you!

Fantastic rental

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay in this Alameda apartment which accommodated our family of 4. The location and nearby shops were excellent and catching the ferry over to SFB added to the excitement of our stay. The apartment was exceptional, clean and we loved sitting in the garden area with a coffee in the morning. Thank you Joe & Mimi for allowing us to stay in your rental.

What a Find!

  • 5 of 5

We were originally going to stay at a hotel in the area. Then, I found this listing on HomeAway. This little apartment is quiet, private, clean, and well-equipped with everything you could need. It was absolutely perfect for our visit to Alameda.

Joe, the owner, was most responsive. We were welcomed with chocolates and wine. Such a nice touch for weary travelers!

The bed was so comfortable! The shower excellent. The kitchen had everything we needed.

Staying here, you have access to both the San Francisco and Oakland ferry. It is easy to access and a convenient way to get to both places easily without needing to take your car. Alameda is a great little town with lots of shopping and a great beach.

If you come to this area, skip the hotel and stay at this lovely apartment.
