Perfect location for a family get together
Beautifully presented with everything you could possibly need for a holiday. Lovely location with views of the Shannon. Stunning beach for walks. Plenty to see and do in the area. Very friendly but unobtrusive host who ensured we were ok. Lovely welcome and welcome pack.
Would recommend Dolphin Cottage highly.
Very enjoyable stay.
Great location, fabulous views, excellent host. Would certainly do it again.
The beautiful views from the Dolphin Cottage change every day. We loved watching the tidal changes from almost every room in the house. The cottage is very well appointed, spacious, comfortable, peaceful, and private. Dermot made us feel welcome and checked in on us during our stay. Many western Ireland historic and cultural sites are an easy day trip. We hope to one day return to the Dolphin cottage.
Wonderful Stay in May
A very comfortable home with a great location. We enjoyed numerous long walks on the beach. The views of the Shannon were top notch.
Great cottage, great location, great time. Thanks Dermot and Nikki!
Simply the Best!
We spent the most wonderful, restful week at Dolphin Cottage near Ballybunion. There are so many positives about it that it’s hard to know where to begin. First of all, the name is deceptive—it’s hardly a cottage—it’s a spacious and modern house, boasting 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, a huge kitchen, along with a beautiful living room with doors leading out to a stone patio, complete with a large grille. The furnishings are tasteful and decidedly upscale, and everything seems brand new: the dishes, glasses, cutlery, the coffee maker and the appliances. Scalding hot water and great pressure made showering a treat. The towels deserve a special shout-out—they were the biggest, thickest, and softest, far superior to what we have at home! Best of all, the house was meticulously clean and well-maintained. Dermot could not have been more accommodating. When we had difficulty getting the flat-screen TV in the master bedroom to work, Dermot was there within 5 minutes of us calling him. Once he realized that it was broken, he replaced it within 24 hours, arriving on Sunday afternoon with a brand new one which he quickly set up for us!
The house is situated on a dead end lane on 5 acres of land overlooking the Shannon estuary, with a broad beach that was perfect for walks. The area is quiet and secluded, but Ballybunion, Listowel, and Tralee are all within easy driving distance. The Supervalu in Listowel is amazing with a great selection of fresh baked goods and meats, and great prices. We enjoyed a visit to the Bromore Cliffs, a mere 5 miles down the road, and enjoyed poking around several old cemeteries and ruins. Mostly we just relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful views from every window in the nicest house we’ve ever stayed at.
From Shannon airport follow the signs for Limerick on the N18. Go through the Tunnell ( Toll €1.90) and take the 1st exit for N69 towards Listowel. At Tarbert continue straight ahead on the R551 to Asdee.
Golf: Golfers paradise. Play all the famous links of the south west Lahinch, Doonbeg, Tralee, Waterville and the Old Head of Kinsale are within reach and of course Ballybunion is right on your doorstep. The parkland courses of Killarney and Adare Manor are also close by.
The beach in front of the house is a great place to practice your swing
