Overview

About the property

Great Haven Townhomes is located just steps from the pebbled ocean beach called Hulls Cove, minutes from Acadia National Park, and only 3 miles to downtown Bar Harbor, Maine.

This fully furnished 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath condo has most-wanted luxury features: private entryway, balcony, oak hardwood floors, modern kitchen & baths, washer/dryer, cable TV, wireless Internet, heated garage with storage space, an outdoor heated pool (mid-June to mid-September, weather permitting), and picturesque ocean views.

All Great Haven Town Homes are also nicely appointed for comfort and relaxation. Books, magazines, jigsaw puzzles, and board games (how about a little old fashioned fun?) are tucked in shelves for those possible rainy day afternoons--though you're only a 3 mile drive to downtown Bar Harbor so browsing the dozens of unique shops is a definite option too. While we're surrounded by water (this is an island after all) the Atlantic Ocean is cold! You're going to LOVE our heated outdoor pool. It's open from Memorial Day to late September, weather permitting. We're right across the street from the Hulls Cove pebble beach so ocean breezes make the hottest day--and with our low pool profile even the coolest day--a perfect pool day. Enjoy!

A quaint general store, post office, and artists studios are part of your neighborhood along with a seasonal restaurant. A free bus service to all major area points, including 95% of Acadia National Park, has a stop in front of Great Haven Townhomes. The shuttle can accommodate bikes, strollers, and picnic gear. Great Haven this is a non-smoking property and we strive to use and encourage eco-friendly practices.

Beauty, comfort, exceptional value, location, and our effort to be green make Great Haven the best choice for your Downeast Maine vacation.

Comfortable Home on Bay

  • 5 of 5

Within walking distance to Acadia National Park. Just outside of Bar Harbor which was a plus due to fall cruise ship crowds. Wonderful Ice cream and made to order pizza next door and Chart Room across the street has best lobster and scallops. Convenient booking. Manager on premises and was friendly and helpful.

Great location, spacious rooms, the pool was lovely after a long day. And the restaurant across the street was amazing.

Clean. spacious, well maintained with a great view.

  • 5 of 5

The property had three bedrooms, two and a half baths, a well equipped kitchen for the meals we prepared in-suite, a garage, a deck with a view of the bay and a pool. We were minutes from Acadia National Park Hull's Cove entrance and Acadia visitor center. Downtown Bar Harbor was about 20 minutes away. My wife, two adult children and I enjoyed all aspects of the unit. There was room to spread out when we needed down time, the deck was used in the afternoon and early mornings, the dining room was our hub for eating and playing games in the evening after hiking.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

My family spent six nights at this unit. We were very happy with the location, close to Bar Harbor and Acadia but outside the crowds of Bar Harbor. There is a gas station/convenience store, restaurant and wine/cheese shop within walking distance which was very nice. We loved waking up each morning and being able to see the ocean and enjoying time on the small deck looking out to the ocean. The unit was more than enough space for my family of 4.

Upon arrival the area had experienced a water main break and the unit did not have any water. We took it in stride and went out to dinner and hoped for the best. After dinner was done and we were heading back to the rental I did receive a text from the owner asking us if we would like a room at a hotel for the night. We accepted her kind offer and spent our first night in a hotel. I only mention this because I felt the owner did go above and beyond to make our trip enjoyable.

I do agree with the previous review that the unit was in need of a few repairs, the garbage disposal was not working, the screen door would not shut without some manipulation and a toilet ran constantly on the first floor. But none of that really affected our stay. I do wish there had been an additional TV in one of the bedrooms as we had a child with a PS4 and it was not always fun sharing a TV with him. The first floor does not have air conditioning (but there was a unit in the garage so maybe they install it in the warmer months?) Otherwise, each bedroom had a window a/c unit. There are two flights of stairs and you need to climb one set to get onto the main level and second to get to the bedrooms, but that was not an issue for our family.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would rent here again.

Clean, convenient, family friendly

  • 4 of 5

Large duplex close to everything. Good for families with kids. Close to hulls cove entrance of Acadia National Park. Close to bar harbor, carriage roads and park ring road. House is clean with a large kitchen. Reminds me of Outer Banks beach house rentals.

The downsides. It’s close to a busy road and you get road noise. I said it’s convenient, which means it’s not way back in the woods. Though the view is nice. Also the kitchen is not super well equipped with pots pans etc. You probably aren’t going to cook a gourmet dinner here, but you could do basic cooking. It needs new frying pans, more silverware, and more glassware.

House had dish soap, paper towels, laundry soap, and some sugar, salt/pepper, coffee filters, olive oil, and a decent gas grill outside.

Overall a great place to use as home base for an Acadia visit.
