Kahalekai Ilalo is a Hawaiian style downstairs studio for 1-2 people on the water. Hawaiian tendered and operated, it simply boasts location, location, location. From the queen sized bed the view through a large picture window is the ocean and foliage. Full bath, vacation kitchen, TV, wireless internet, parquet tile flooring and a beveled glass door opening to a covered lanai facing the ocean.
Makani oluolu bless this side of the island, tradewinds. There are only ceiling fans overhead, air conditioning is not needed. Fishing, snorkeling, swimming are not just good but safe as this bay is protected by apapa, reef. Sunrises and full moons rising out of the water are breathtaking.
Ilalo is located about 20 footsteps from the water on a dead end road with just a few houses beyond. Traffic is minimal, just the neighbors and tourists scouting a better place to stay next year.
'Ano'ai me ke aloha, welcome and aloha.
Mahalo for another AMAZING stay in Ilalo! This is such a perfect place to explore Kauai, relax on the beach, snorkel, and just be. Enjoyed every moment of this trip - got to see some new & different sights & hike some trails that are now "old friends." We found the temple/shore up the hill so were able to meditate there daily. Snorkeling right out in Aliomanu bay we saw lots of beautiful fish, rays, a pipe fish, and an eel! So perfect!! This time we came with a baby in my belly & next time he or she will be running up & down the beach with us! The whales are harder to spot then they were in February but we still saw a bunch from just right in front. The perfect vantage point. Lots of baby chicks this time too - the peepers parade!! Canʻt wait to come back!
The living space is simple, yet has everything you need. The beach access is steps away. The beach is not super clean, but very secluded. The deck is a great spot to spend a lot of time. We were overall pleased.
We spent most of our time hiking and swimming. The house is perfect, simple and low key. We would love to visit again!
Not far off the main road so all the sights were easy to get to. All the way to the end of the road to the north was an awesome sight even if you were getting a misty rain. The people are so friendly and all are willing to help. We enjoyed 2 adventures, tubbing through the water tunnels and ATV riding at Kipu Ranch. We took the river cruise one morning to the fern grotto, it was beautiful. We located all the marvelous beaches and even tried snorkeling. Tried many wonderful places to eat and yes JoJo's has the best shave ice. Mahalo Kauai
Essie is super responsive. Upstairs neighbor loaned us a guidebook. One caveat: don't leave stuff out on the lanai. My muddy hiking books got swiped. But we had a great stay.
We had an amazing stay and would definitely love to come back! The sound of the waves just out the back door put us to sleep every night, we cooked dinners together in the small but well equipped kitchenette and ate on the deck or beach. The neighbors were all lovely people - warm and welcoming when we met them, but we still had privacy and seclusion for the stay. If you are a light sleeper, you might want to bring ear plugs because the sprinklers and waves can be loud. We look forward to coming back here and will miss it very much!
