My family and myself have been able to stay at some really great properties in Hawaii. Really, all types, ranging from The Four Seasons in Wailea, the casual, but elegant Hana Travassa, private homes in Kauai that were off the charts, and a couple of others. I have been to Hawaii countless times over the last twenty years, and lived in Maui for 2 years. So when we found a property at this price point, we were a little unsure, although we were looking for some Upcountry Maui tranquility.
It turned out to be perfect, and much, much better than advertised. It was quaint, quiet, peaceful, clean and had everything we needed. The welcome basket was overflowing with chocolate macadamia nuts, a big bag of Maui chips, fresh coffee, and those incredible chocolate chip and macnut cookies from Hawaii. The yard was private and just the right size for my two sons and I to throw the football and get some energy out. The goats added an additional bit of excitement(one reared his head back and tried to ram my 10 year old, but the fence stopped him. That provided some very funny video!) And seeing the family of Axis deer was an added bonus.
This is a well kept property with every amenity needed, in excellent condition. We were never bothered by anyone, and the quiet, safe and peaceful surroundings were just what we needed. We also liked driving down the long private dirt driveway. If this is the type of property you are looking for, you should definitely book it.
Thanks so much to the owners. We never said hello, or met you, but we will be back.
We really enjoyed our stay in the spacy house. The house is perfectly equipped, clean and has plenty of space to stay with a family of 5 (even more people). It is somewhat unusual to stay so close to an active volcano - so it is only a view minutes to drive to the national park with plenty of things to do. We enjoyed the nice for Hawaii cool climate.
We have always stayed by the beach on Maui so this visit we wanted to experience the upcountry vibe.
The house is wonderful. It is so quiet and peaceful. The grounds are lush and it is fun to see all the wild life, goats, roosters, chickens and deer (that we heard but did not see).
Our hosts were there if we needed them but we had total privacy.
A great stay, thank you :)
None of the reviews I read prepared us for how amazing, beautiful, and magical not only this house is but the property and neighborhood is my happy place. Every amenity is here, towels, dishes...all so homey. The owners spared no expense. We LOVE this house. Period. LOVE! Five stars/ HIGHLY RECOMMENED!!! Love!!!
We enjoyed our week "on the mountain" in this lovely home. It is clean and well-maintained with Hawaiian style decorating. Quiet really describes this home and the setting. It was nice to visit the beaches and the busy tourist sites, but to come home to seclusion.
The owners really respect your privacy even when "checking in" by text to make sure all was going well.
This would be a wonderful place for couples, young families and those with older children as well.
We are a family of 6 (kids 9-16). The house fit us perfectly. The owners were amazingly responsive to all questions/needs. The house was clean, and we felt safe. The rain was a little heavy which probably contributed to the musty smell in the 2nd bedroom when the windows were closed. If you need complete privacy, then come alone. With the master bedroom loft situation, the sounds travel throughout the house. This was definitely not a problem for us. I recommend a better griddle for making pancakes, as the one there warped as soon as it heated up, but we managed fine. A couple of tupperware storage containers would be helpful as well. I loved having a washer/dryer. The cooler was extremely helpful. Be advised: there are a lot of spices, oils, vinegar, and condiments, so check it out before heading to the store - you'll save a lot of money. The house was convenient for exploring the east side of Maui. We did the Road to Hana one day and the top of Haleakala another. We explored Makawao and Paia. We loved the location.
Located just six miles to Kula where you'll find the entrance to Haleakala National Park and the Ali'i Lavender Farm. Just three miles from Piiholo Zipline. Six miles to the Surfing Goat Dairy. One mile from the rodeo arena and polo grounds.
Makawao town hosts a large array of boutiques, electric shops and restaurants with the area around the town, perfect for scenic drives through the nearby flower farms or long hikes through the surrounding eucalyptus forests.
