About Brian Johnson
My name is Brian Johnson, I grew up in Grand Forks, ND and currently reside in Sauk Centre, MN & Eden Prairie, MN. I am an entrepreneur/business owner that enjoys the water, playing golf, traveling to various VRBO properties & best of all enjoying family time with my 3 children. i like the finer things in life, and want to treat others that way while renting our beautiful cottage. We picked out finishes and furnishings for this property with this in mind, not just thinking of it as a rental and buying cheap stuff - but adding quality products so it can be a place friends, family and vacationers can appreciate and enjoy calling home for their week or so off of real world hustle.
Brian Johnson purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Brian Johnson chose Sauk Centre
I have family that own property on Sauk Lake and have been vacationing here with them since 2003. So when I decided to take the plunge and purchase a lake home - Sauk Lake and Sauk Centre was first on the mind. The property is truly incredible. A terrific golf course on one side, beautiful lake & views in the back with 3 buildings on an acre was a dream to find. The property includes a main home, a bunk house and the cottage. I'll be your neighbor during your stay - so I can assist with anything you may need. Within the first year it was realized that the former cottage had to either be remodeled or taken down to rebuild. With the help of a wonderful local builder we designed and built a stunning little cottage with all the character and more than the original built in 1927. I spent the first 1/2 of 2012 building out the interior myself. I loved every minute of it, and hope you love what you see as well and make return trips!
What makes this Cottage unique
The Cottage is very close to the water in a quiet peaceful location. It was built with an old time cottage feel in mind - and we think we did a pretty good job hitting that goal. Sitting in the dinette or out on the deck in the morning with your favorite cup of coffee looking out over the peaceful calm morning lake is incredible! The home was built with sound deadening in the walls between the bedrooms and bathroom so it is very quiet for those mornings you want to sleep in! It is not a huge cottage, but it is very functional and has everything you need to create wonderful family memories.

Beautiful views and close to Sauk Lake
With a well-equipped kitchen, a cozy living room and dining area with lake side views, the cottage is a wonderful get-away. An easy drive to the downtown area too. Living on the property, Brian is an excellent host and promptly answers questions. If we're in the area again we'd love to come back to this VRBO!
A beautiful cozy little cottage! The pull out hide-a-bed was SO comfortable!.
Brian was cheerful and nearby to greet us and very attentive to our request for extra linens! Our only regret is that we were so occupied with our niece's wedding, that we couldn't spend more time hanging out and enjoy the cottage and lake!
5 Star Property
Everything and expected and more, nice mornings by the lake, peaceful and quiet, and the breeze off the lake was much needed for a great weekend get away ! a little small but comfy and cozy , you wont be disappointed . Thanks Brian for a great get away ! The Kletts, from Woodbury Mn !
We stayed at the cottage in early August with our small children. The cabin suited our family wonderfully and Brian was very helpful and accommodating. The lake wasn’t great for swimming which was a bit of a disappointment with the kids but there was a nice splash pad and playground not far away.
Cabin on a lake
Great place to get away, unwind, and leave it all behind. Close to town and conveniences. Sauk Centre is a delightful small town. Some excellent wineries in the area as well as museums, creameries, parks, etc. Highly recommend.
Great place to stay - recommended!
My family of 4 stayed here for a week in July and it was great. Cabin is nicely furnished and laid out. Great views of the lake from the kitchen/dining area. Hard bottom, very little weeds and nice gradual slope in the water. Kids loved swimming and we did a lot of boating/tubing also. Kept the boat tied up to the dock most nights. Brian was a great host. My only thoughts for improvement on the property would be to have a lift for guest's boats. Overall a wonderful experience and I think anyone would enjoy a vacation here.
Downtown Sauk Centre is a couple minutes away - even by bike! Great shopping, Museum Home of writer Sinclair Lewis close by. Historic & said to be haunted Palmer House Hotel with it's lounge and restaurant is downtown, as are 5 to 6 other fun watering holes. Centre Care Health Hospital is down the street and has an ER, clinic, etc.
