Spacious and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The house is nice, and the open kitchen and living/dining area is great. The lake water is amazing - clear and refreshing. The kayaks were much appreciated. The issues for us were more with the location. We are used to very secluded Maine lakes, and didn't realize that Beech Hill Pond was so populated. A neighbor owns planes and flies them over the lake frequently on the weekends. The weekdays were quiet and nicer! Josh was very helpful and communicative. Small improvement that would be appreciated by renters: a better set of knives. You couldn't even cut a tomato with the knives :)

Wonderful house on a pristine lake

  • 5 of 5

We had 13 people staying in the house and we were very comfortable. The S'more makings were a big hit! The grandchildren loved catching perch right off the pier, swimming to the floating dock as well as taking out the canoe and kayaks. The lake was the prettiest one I have ever seen! The water was so clear and the temperature was perfect. My son had a blast snorkeling. We loved just hanging at the house; cooking, playing games, lying in the hammock we brought, and my grandson even took a nap up in the playscape! The close proximity to Bar Harbor made it easy to go enjoy a couple of days there and bicycle through Acadia National Park. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone for a fun and relaxing stay.

Lovely get away

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time with our family at Josh's house. It's ideal for people who like solitude, stunning nature, going out with a boat, fishing and swimming. The house is well equipped with everything needed and has a wonderful garden. The only minus is its remote location - the next big super market is 25 minutes away and we would also have appreciated a better overall cleaning of the house. Would very much recommend that house for a family (or two) with many active kids.

Perfect time with family

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. Home is a great size, has a great floor plan for communal gathering times and the extra basement common area was perfect when we wanted to spread out. The setting is beautiful and quiet, and the spot on the lake was perfect for swimming. Our kids are aged 1.5-10 yrs and loved the set up with the floating dock and kayaks/canoes, plus the playset. We ended up not even leaving the house and playing there for 3 days of our week there. Kids were also able to catch small fish off the dock like the fish were paid to be there. Great time had by all.

Perfect setting for a lakefront family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our whole family enjoyed our recent vacation to Maine. The lovely lakefront home on Beech Hill Pond was the perfect setting. The house was large, clean and came complete so that you felt like you were truly at home. We could have stayed "home" all week and simply swam in the clean waters and enjoyed the toys there....two kayaks and a canoe. We even brought our own small 11 foot water "toy" to dock at the house and cruise around the lake. The ramp was just a short walk from the house. Some days we ventured out to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park which was easy to access and only 40 minutes away. While we prepared many meals in the house or on the grill, we enjoyed restaurants in Bar Harbor and Ellsworth too. We finished off many days with a fire and smores...wood and sweets provided. A special memory will be the sound of the loons at sunset and into the evening.

We like to choose a different location every summer for our family vacation. However, this might be one of those places we would return to once again.

Thanks for a great week!

Highly recommend this house if you like to swim in lakes and want a restful get away with the family. We are a group of three couples spending our first trip together, and the house was more oriented for families, but there was plenty of space for all. The house and grounds are beautiful, clean and updated: excellent kitchen fully supplied with just about anything you could possibly need, including comfortable leather chairs for tv viewing, laundry, two kayaks and a canoe, a float to swim to, metal dock, fire pit complete with wood and gorgeous views from the house, something for everyone. Only thing missing was the carafe to the coffee maker, which Josh offered to replace. The yard was well landscaped and the water was shallow enough to get in and out of. We had a great time fishing and one of our friends caught a 24" salmon, another a nice sized small mouth bass. Josh answered all calls promptly. When the gas grill needed to be fixed he sent someone over immediately. We were not far from Ellsworth where we were able to shop and eat a wonderful dinner at the Union River Lobster Pot, definitely recommend that! We had an educational and nice Lobster & Seal cruise with the Bar Harbor Whale Watching Co. Lots to do in Bar Harbor only an hour away. Great time for all.
