About Darla Koop

We have lived in Niagara-on-the-Lake for nearly 20 years and love the area - especially all the beautiful historic properties. Peter grew up in nearby Jordan Station, Ontario and Darla is a transplanted American, originally from Kansas.

~ A Tribute to Darla ~

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beautiful wife & soul-mate, and loving mother to our four children, Darla.

Her talent & passion for decorating, and her desire to please our guests with her gracious hospitality has elevated our business to the high standards that it holds today.

It is our intention to carry on her labour of love, upholding these high standards & warm hospitality…..the way Darla would have wanted us to.

We look forward to meeting you at the cottage!

Peter & the kids,

Sam, Cassie, Emily & Josh

Why Darla Koop chose Niagara-on-the-Lake

We have always wanted to own a property in 'Old Town' Niagara-on-the-Lake because we love the architecture of historic houses and the lovely gardens in town.

What makes this cottage unique

We fell in love with this property because of the beautiful landscaping already in place and it's location on a quiet street so close to the lake.

The cottage is nicely decorated and is very cosy! Love staying at Hawespiper Cottage!!

  • 4 of 5

Hawespiper Cottage is such a cute property to stay in. It has everything you need and more! The back yard is very nice and my two dogs had so much fun running around and sniffing....we were lucky and had two nice days, albeit it rained Sat morning....when we could we sat outside on the small patio around the table and drank some wine and let the sunshine fall upon us!!! A great little get away!!! Will definitely be back! Peter is a gracious host!

Very nice cottage

  • 4 of 5

Arrived at the cottage an hour early which was great! The cottage is exactly as pictured in the ad. Due to bad weather we had to drive to locations but the cottage was central. Quite street! Beds were comfortable. Only concern was it was really difficult to operate the DVD player & TV, took us quite some time to figure it out. The first step into the house is really steep might not be good for older people, but you could use the back door. Looking forward to returning again.

Cozy and relaxing weekend

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect location for our anniversary weekend trip. The cottage was cozy and felt like home (which included excellent wifi connection!). It was the perfect amount of space for the two of us. Part of the reason we picked Hawespiper Cottage was for the location -- a short walk into NOTL, and close to the lake. Pete made excellent suggestions for dining, and I appreciated Darla's friendly and helpful correspondence when booking. We look forward to a future visit as we plan to come back again!
