Eureka Valley Studio Rental Photos and Description

Newly Built Spacious Studio Opening Directly To The Garden.

This peaceful and quiet hidden gem of a studio is perfectly situated in the heart of the city. We're located in the bustling Castro district only a five minute walk to Market and Castro -- a convenient and fast transportation hub with Muni underground, trains and buses. Downtown is only 10-15 minutes away. It's possible to travel directly from SFO by Bart with only one transfer at Civic Center to the Castro Street Muni Station. You won't need a car to get around -- most of our guests enjoy the city without one -- but if you do drive, parking is easy and free on our block.

The Castro is a friendly neighborhood with well cared for classic Victorian and Edwardian buildings, parks, cafes, restaurants, small groceries, shops and the venerable Castro theater. Although it is a flat walk to transportation and Castro street shopping, we have lots of hills nearby with hidden staircases and wonderful views. Start your day with a walk to Tartine Bakery on Valencia for croissants & coffee or up to Twin Peaks for the views. We are perfectly situated next to some of the city's hottest restaurants -- walking distance from the Mission, the Valencia Corridor, Duboce Triangle, Hayes Valley, Lower Haight & Noe Valley

This studio apartment was newly built in 2012 at the garden level of a renovated 1907 Edwardian. Accessed through a side door and corridor to the back, it's great for folks who prefer not to climb a lot of steps. It's a spacious 440 square feet with 9' ceilings, hardwood floors, recess lighting and Anderson sliding doors to a patio and shared garden.

We've set up the apartment for the way we'd like to live if we, family or friends were to stay there for weeks at a time. The sitting area has a comfortable couch and chair, a 32' LCD TV w/cable and DVD, the fabulously comfortable king size bed has lots of great pillows and high thread count cotton sheets. There are bathrobes in the closet and the tiled bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer, bath products and lots of room for your things. Upon request, there is a single mattress for a third person and for our smallest visitors a travel crib or child's cot.

The kitchenette with refrigerator, convection microwave, induction burner, toaster oven, coffee maker, tea kettle, rice cooker and crock-pot, etc. has everything you'll need to eat in when you're not in the mood to take advantage of numerous restaurants nearby. There is a supermarket three blocks away and farmers' markets all over town.

Your hosts, Jan and Wandralee, are happy to direct you to neighborhood cafes & restaurants, interesting places to walk or bike, and all of the wonderful amenities San Francisco has to offer.

About Jan Medina

I've lived in San Francisco for almost 50 years and can't imagine ever moving. I still appreciate the parks, museums, cultural activities, great food and being able to walk everywhere. I'm a bicyclist, avid reader, traveler, mother of two grown daughters, grandmother, scuba diver, ceramist, Realtor and work for social change.

My partner and I love spending time with friends, enjoying a walk across town, and hosting travelers from around the world.

Jan Medina purchased this studio in 1992

Why Jan Medina chose San Francisco

I moved from the Mission district to this wonderful 2 unit Edwardian about twenty years ago because it's both quiet and only a few blocks to the center of everything. I love that I can walk to Muni-Metro (which connects to BART) in five minutes and get anywhere easily and quickly -- it's one of the easiest places to catch a bus, train or taxi in SF.

Although street parking is fairly easy, in 2011 we raised our building to put in a three car garage. At that time we built out a new large studio at the garden level.

What makes this studio unique

The Castro is a friendly neighborhood with well cared for classic Victorian and Edwardian buildings, parks, cafes, restaurants, small groceries, shops and the venerable Castro theater. Although it is a flat walk to transportation and Castro street shopping, we have lots of hills nearby with hidden staircases and wonderful views. I often walk to Tartine on Valencia for croissants & coffee or up to Twin Peaks for the views.

Perfect for rest and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to unwind after a tiring trip to Asia. The Garden Studio fit the bill perfectly. There was no street noise and the view of the garden was very peaceful. Everything in the studio was as advertised and pictured. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen and bath were well stocked. After we recovered from jet lag, we spent 3 days touring around the city with our 3-day Muni pass. One bus stop was just steps from the studio. We felt safe returning to the neighborhood on the buses, even late at night. We would recommend this rental to anyone visiting San Francisco.

A relaxing respite from the city

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay tremendously at your property. And we appreciated the wine and snack left for us! Your property is beautiful and in a great location of the city. We did not have any problems what so ever with parking. And the shops/restaurants were close enough to walk to. We definitely highly recommend this studio and will look into staying here again when we return to San Francisco. Thank you for your hospitality!

Clean, comfortable, and convenient.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely apt . Very clean and bright. Quiet street, yet an easy walk to restaurants, stores, bakery, parks, and views of city. Public transport also close by. We especially enjoyed the beautiful garden right outside our door and the plentiful supply of good coffee. Would definitely want to stay there again on our next visit to San Francisco.

Perfectly Named

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in the Garden Suite was exactly what we were looking for. It had all the amenities one could ask for when staying for a week in San Francisco. We love the neighbourhood and have been visiting San Francisco on a yearly basis for close to 10 years. Every time we visit we discover a new pocket; a new gem. This trip was no different.

One of the thing we like about staying in a neighbourhood versus in a downtown hotel is that you get to see the people and you get a feel for the area as if you were a local. The Garden Suite does not disappoint. Jan and Wandralee are wonderful hosts who allow you to come and go as you please all the while you know that if something is needed, they are nearby.

The first day I was in the suite, I happened to come across a book on ‘Stairway Tours of San Francisco’. What an excellent way to visit, see different architecture, as well as vegetation and different birds. We ended up doing five stairway tours which yet again provided us with a different visit by discovering new vistas in familiar territories.

Thank you Jan and Wandralee – we look forward to sharing your home again.

Perfectly fabulous stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for 6 nights and loved the garden apt. The garden was so lovely and accessible and we felt like we had it all to ourselves. The neighborhood was great and we felt a part of it after a day or so and several treks up and down 18th St. The #33 bus to the Haight and Presidio area goes right by on 18th and you are a few blocks from the Castro Muni station that goes straight downtown so very easy to get around town without a car. We Ubered to and from the airport for only $30 each way, about half the price of a cab and just easier when you are arriving with luggage or have an early AM flight home like we did. The set up in the apt was just as described and had everything you need for a longer stay. Though basically one big room plus the bathroom, it was so well designed that it felt like you really had a living area, dining area, kitchen area, and bedroom area. Great wifi and nice size TV too. A nice closet with PLENTY of hangars and robes were just some of the nice touches. All in all a great place to stay if you want to feel like you live in SF for awhile, so much better than a hotel downtown among all the tourists! Great restaurants all within easy walk. Great stay and hope to visit again!
