Guestbook comments from the owner

The cottage at Pacolet Hill Farm is nothing short of delightful.

The setting couldn't be more beautiful & serene.

The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and couches.

The home is well appointed with everything you need from linens to cooking utensils.

I am a rider and having the washer /dryer was a huge bonus.

Helen & Mike are wonderful hosts.

I will definitely go back!

Our ten-day stay at Aberfoyle was perfect

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived we were transformed from the hustle and bustle of life to one of peace and serenity. Aberfoyle offers plenty of inside and outside space, privacy and beauty. Located up a private lane and opposite a golf course it is well located between FENCE and TIEC and offers easy access to many local attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed soaking in the natural surroundings and having the horses as well as the occasional white squirrel alongside the driveway was wonderful. We all enjoyed exploring the house and grounds and once we had settled in Helen came up to greet us. She is very thoughtful and hospitable yet inconspicuous. We found we had a lot in common and enjoyed a nice long visit with her. Chatting about horses, hearing about her involvement with the Pony Club and learning her personal and family background was very interesting as was learning about the history of the house and grounds.

Aberfoyle has its own private driveway and plenty of parking areas. It is relaxing, is well-appointed and was stocked with all the little necessities as well as a welcome basket full of goodies. It is spacious, peaceful, comfortable, tastefully decorated and thoroughly enjoyable. The living room is large and has plenty of comfortable furniture. TV reception is clear with lots of channels to choose from including pay-per-view and there are lots of games, books, magazines, jigsaws and brochures to enhance your visit. The kitchen is enormous and has all the supplies needed for preparation and cooking needs. A central kitchen island made meal preparation easy and having a flat-top stove made for fast clean ups as did having a dishwasher that worked flawlessly. The kitchen cabinets, large refrigerator/freezer and very large walk-through pantry with its own sink, counters and cabinets accommodated all we needed. We enjoyed breakfast at the kitchen dining table and dinner at the more formal one in the dining area. The bedrooms are spacious, beautiful and comfortable and one includes a nice visiting area. Each includes a bathroom and we found both the quality of the water and the pressure to be excellent. In so many ways, the flow of the house; the atmosphere within the house; the grounds outside; the beauty and splendor of the entire home and all it includes made our stay at Aberfoyle more than we could have hoped for.

Beautiful remote setting

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience with Homeaway.com. Thus we were a little retisent. Our reluctance was was unfounded. We truly enjoyed our stay in this home. It is a cozy historic home tucked back in the woods.but still close to the highway for easy access to the surrounding communities. We found it very inviting, roomy and clean. Helen the owner made us feel very comfortable, She was extremely pleasant and accomodating when we had a couple of family emergencies causing us to rearrange our itinerary. We definately plan to visit again in the near future.

wonderful bucolic setting

  • 5 of 5

It's like staying on your own private farm! As you come in the long drive past the stables you will arrive at the tree canopied cottage where you will find clean and spacious accommodations. Helen is a very gracious host and the cottage provided a great central location to visit the Equestrian center, Tryon and Landrum. You will also find Ingles, the better store for groceries, nearby. We would happily stay here again and would recommend for adults and children alike.

Very comfortable and convienent

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for five days recently and were very satisfied. The house was very neat and clean and well stocked. Helen & Mike were excellent hosts, attending to any of our needs and offering great information about the surrounding area. Undoubtedly we would return for another stay in this very private cottage.
