North Star Cottage
Cute, comfy and warm little cottage in a beautiful setting.
This cottage was exactly what we expected. It was very cute and homey. Very warm (we were there in January) and extremely comfortable beds. Would recommend this to anyone looking to "get away from it all" while in Iceland.
Great cabin, full kitchen and comfy beds
Perfectly located on Ring Road, easy to access, clean and comfy. Very quiet! No wifi which by Iceland standards seems cheap but you’re in a wood cabin, it is to be expected. There is no grocery or restaurant really nearby, so prepare ahead. We stayed there only for a night and the price was very good (again by icelandic standards).
Cozy cottage in a fantastic spot
My wife and I had the fortune of staying at this cottage for a night and would absolutely stay there again in future trips! Super easy "check in" process, even easier check out! Best part was realizing that Iceland's oldest swimming pool, Seljavallalaug, is literally at the end of the road this cottage is nestled on! Great cottage in a fantastic location!
Sweet Little Cabin
This reminded me of a KOA type cottage with nice furniture and better surroundings! The bathroom was plenty big enough and the water was nice and hot! The kitchen has a two burner cook top and a microwave! The downstairs bedroom has a king sized bed that can be split into twins. The other bed/beds are in the loft and accessible by ladder. I can see where some people would find it "dirty" but it is a cabin. Also, the WIFI was spotty at best. The views are stunning and we were able to see people each day for help or questions. It is just about 20 minutes west of the town of Vik so it is in a great location! If you like "glamping" or enjoying simple unplugged pleasures this is perfect for you!
Stay somewhere else if you want clean!
WE DIDNT RECEIVE THE EMAIL A WEEK IN ADVANCE. We received the email at 6 pm after sending two desperate emails to the owners and one to VRBO. We tried to call the number in the check in area, owners never botherd to answer the phone. We had to email a web site that was posted on the building and waited for a reply to get the key code. That only took 2 more hours. Finally able to check at 6pm.
The shower head fell off as soon as one of us used the shower, we reattached it.
The shower curtain needs to be washed, it’s about 6 months past due.
We were not able to get information from the cleaning staff as they do not speak English and we don’t speak Islandic. They seemed perturbed that we were trying to communicate with them. They also don’t have a vacuum to use, that’s obvious by all the crumbs on the floor, under the couch, beds, table and chairs! Housekeeping was still cleaning the cabin at 5pm. Check in time is 4pm.
There is only one glass in this particular cabin, bit difficult for 3 people.
The toaster only works if you hold down the handle. You can make toast If you stand there holding the handle down.
There are towels for the shower but no hand towels. There is one wash rag for dishes and one to dry them. The sponges to wash dishes have seen better days.
The pictures are truly misleading for this cabin!
We will not be using VRBO again. Other sites are much more user friendly and have quicker response times.
