About John and Sue Twose
We live next door to the Beach House (the 2 houses are on the same property, but private to each other) and look after all our bookings and deal with our guests directly. We are originally from the UK and emmigrated to Canada in 1992 where we lived in Alberta for 10 years before moving out to the coast!
John and Sue Twose purchased this House in 2007
Why John and Sue Twose chose Fanny Bay
Buckley Bay Beach House is a great spot to have a holiday, whether it is just for a quick week end or for a week or more - there is so much to see and do in the area. It is perfectly located to explore central and northern Vancouver Island. If you like hiking, golfing, skiing, boating, kayaking, biking, swimming, fishing, beach combing, caving, mountaineering etc (the list goes on) - this is the place to be!
What makes this House unique
Waterfront, on an acre of land, private location. Courtenay and Comox are just 15 minutes away along the very scenic coastal highway. Mt Washington Alpine Resort and Strathcona Provisional Park are just a 30 minute drive away. Horne Lake Caves are just down the road, Campbell River (great whale watching tours) is just up the road. Cumberland with all its fantastic bike trails is only 10 minutes away and is a funky, vibrant village.

Great tweener spot for your island adventure.
Had a great stay. Good base for island exploring and waking up to coffee by the water. Sadly there was a fire ban so we didn’t get to enjoy one of the reasons we booked this particular property. No fault of the owners. Hot tub was good n hot, property was clean and house was cozy.
Had a great summer holiday. Would love to rent again.
A nice relaxing getaway.
Central location for day trips
Very clean residence, terrific ocean front view.
Stay was great however land lord house was too close to cottage but still very nice place
It was good just located a bit too far from town, example I drove 20 min every morning for my Tim’s lol.
Hi Harry, it was great having you stay, thank you for the review. There is a great speciality store called Weinberg’s, located at Buckley Bay Ferry Terminal just 1km south of our property that sells organic and local foods as well as many gluten free products.
It also has a great Expresso Bar! Next to it is Fanny Bay Oyster Shop that has a great selection of seafood and oysters. There is also a very well stocked convenience store and a liquor outlet in the same building and you can walk along the beach to it, or it’s a minutes drive away. Both houses were built new in 2007 on an acre of oceanfront property that has 200 feet of private beach. The houses have been situated so they can both enjoy their own wonderful views and do not overlook each other, even when everyone is relaxing on their own decks or in their private hot tubs. Both houses look over the lovely lawn area, which many of our guests use to play croquet, frisbee, soccer or whatever they desire. The fire pit is situated on the beach in front of the rock sea wall and is not visible from either house. We feel this is a magnificent piece of property that we are happy to share with others. John and Sue.
Lovely stay by the beach
Lovely house in great location. Wonderful views. Everything we could need for an enjoyable stay. Just like a home from home.
Buckley Bay Beach House vacation rental is centrally located in Buckley Bay, a small community that is part of the Comox Valley on the east coast of Vancouver Island, BC. Our waterfront location, with private beach, wildlife viewing and large garden, will keep you as busy as you want to be but if your itinerary includes getting out to see more of Vancouver Island (and there’s lots to see and do) we have some suggestions for you.
Whale watching (for killer whales!!), salmon fishing, golfing, hiking in wonderful Strathcona Provincial Park, downhill skiing/snowboarding/nordic skiing at Mount Washington Alpine Resort, great family fun exploring at Horne Lake Caves, visit Hornby Island (the ferry is just down the road) for lovely hiking along the bluffs in Halliwell Park or on the beach at Tribune Bay.
