The Yuba River Retreat is incredible! My cousins and I enjoyed a reunion weekend with children of all ages. About 20 people in all and we were completely comfortable. There was not a thing that we had wished was supplied that was not there for us. Beautiful landscaping, easy hike to the river and waterfall, a giant deck overlooking the most beautiful canyon, an area for a safe fire for an evening of building smores and singing camp fire songs, and plenty of space in the home. We did not feel crowded at all. We created wonderful memories at the Yuba River Retreat and look forward to another visit.
We just returned from a four-night stay at the retreat where we held our very intimate wedding ceremony and reception. We had some unusually rainy weather for mid-October, but we managed to catch a break in the rain to hold a misty and wonderful wedding on the deck. We also didn't let the rain stop us from getting some hikes in (although we waited for gaps in the rain when there were any). In addition to the land its on, the house itself is really lovely. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped. There is a ton of living space for spreading out and the bedrooms were all quite spacious, comfortable and charmingly decorated.
A note on the layout - although there is a separate entrance to the basement studio, it is also accessible from stairs off the kitchen on the main floor, which lead directly into one of the bedrooms. We felt the need to be thoughtful about who would be best suited for this room because it felt a little less private.
Again, gorgeous property and a cozy, yet spacious home. We hope to come back. :)
The home and property were amazing! My family and our guests enjoyed their stay very much and have already been making plans to visit and book the retreat again.
The home is spacious, inviting, clean, well maintained and a wonderful space to enjoy with family and friends. Each room has a view out to the property and a luxurious bed. The kitchens - yes there are two! are well stocked and has a nice layout. Our favorite was the outdoor patio area and the long communal table in the dining room - which was perfect for our meals and some fun card games.
The property is also about a mile from one of our favorite Yuba river spots - which was a major bonus!
Alicia was always within reach with my questions via email and provided a great guidebook and directions to the retreat. I highly recommend booking this home!
We loved the trails, swam-or rather floated-at the swimming beach, enjoyed the obvious care that has gone into the land and this property. Kitchen was well stocked, making it easy to enjoy a BBQ and eating out on the deck. Plenty of room for all. Reading and napping was a treat in the hammocks. Thankful for all the bathrooms to get ready in since we were there for a family wedding and we all needed to be clean as well as looking sharp, all at the same time. We also felt very welcomed by the beautiful fresh sunflowers on the dining room table as we came in. Thank you! We've been telling friends about the retreat!
The space inside and out were great for our family reunion. With up to 19 people on one given day, we all felt comfortable with plenty of space and equipment to complete any meal or fun time. It was clean and well supplied with utensils and bowls etc. The location is out in a quiet space. It was a bit far to go back and forth into town but if you want to just stay put and enjoy the peace, perfect place. We really thought this was a great space for all of us. Mosquitos were quite aggressive so it was difficult to enjoy the outdoors in the evening as much as we would have liked. Would definitely recommend for a large group. Thank you Alicia for your promptness at responding to emails prior to arriving. Once we were there we never needed to contact anyone as everything was either provided or explained. Great with kids too. Did not have to be worried about anything getting broken as it was kid friendly.
We really had a great time. We traveled with 8 adults and 4 children and had plenty of room. Lots of fun additions like pool table and dart board. Well appointed kitchen. Very responsive owner. I would definitely stay here again!
It is well suited in the site of beautiful mountain. The house is also tastefully decorated and clean. The well maintained private trails, the water fall, Yuba River and Scotts Flake Lake are our favorite site for outdoor activities. The children also enjoy plenty of games and entertainments in & around the house. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend our friends about the place.
