Oceanfront overlooking a gorgeous, uncrowded beach and crystal clear water.
Large 2nd floor beachfront unit.. Two master suites, both with queen size beds and ensuite baths. plus two single sofas and a double sleeping loft. Children under 10 are not permitted in this unit.There is a full kitchen and comfortable living area opening out onto a balcony that runs the full length of the unit. Enjoy 180 degree views of the beach from the balcony while taking in cooling sea breezes. The property is centrally located within walking distance of food store, restaurants and liquor store, but we highly recommend renting a golf cart (buggy) for your visit to get around the island. (We can arrange the rental for you). Kayaks are included with the rental. There is an enclosed outdoor shower conveniently located as you come from the beach. The property is fully air-conditioned and has wifi and a smart TV.
Bahama Palms Beach Club is a small complex with this large 2/2 second floor unit and three 1/1 studio apartments with full kitchens on the ground floor. Also adjoining is our 2/2 beach bungalow known as Rake 'n' Scrape (Home Away Property number 4254181).
Spanish Wells is a fishing community and the principal lobster fishing center in the Bahamas. Its roots date to the earliest settlers in the islands in the mid-1600's when they were shipwrecked on nearby Devil's Backbone Reef. They are English speaking.
The island is a safe, friendly community of about 1,700 that welcomes visitors, and golf carts (buggies) are as common as cars on the streets. Buggies and boats are available to rent at reasonable rates and guided charters are available for fishing, snorkeling or beachcombing on nearby islands.
There are several restaurants, food stores, liquor store, churches and other amenities all within walking distance or a short buggy ride. Everything is beach casual, but cover-ups and shoes are required in restaurants. Fresh seafood is featured at most of the restaurants and sometimes special entertainment is featured on the weekend. There is a booklet in the unit with info on restaurants and other amenities although finding everything on the island is quite easy.
Travel is via the nearby North Eleuthera (ELH) airport or a daily fast ferry from Nassau. The ferry is about a 2 1/2 hour trip and leaves Nassau early morning and leaves Spanish Wells late afternoons, so overnight stays are required in Nassau to make flight connections. There are direct flights to ELH by Delta from Atlanta, American from Miami and Silver (United and Jet Blue partner) from Ft Lauderdale, or connecting through Nassau and then connect to ELH on BahamasAir or Pineapple Airways. Travel from the airport is quick and easy via Pinder's Taxi and Ferry service at $15 each way per person. If you provide us your flight info we will be sure they meet you at the airport and we will meet you at the ferry dock in Spanish Wells and get you settled in your accommodations.
There are stairs so this house is not handicapped accessible. No pets or smoking, and children under 10 are not allowed due to safety issues with the sleeping loft and the outside porches.

About Lori Newbold
Colin and Nancy were both born in the Bahamas but have lived primarily in the US for many years. They initially acquired a small bungalow next door that was transformed into a quaint old island style fisherman's cottage but with all the modern amenities. It proved so popular immediately and we were unable to accommodate many of the people wanting to experience Spanish Wells and live on the gorgeous beach for a carefree vacation. when we had the opportunity to purchase the larger property next door, we jumped at it. The property had good bones and we set about updating it and creating a new experience. The upper floor is a large unit with a bedroom with ensuite bath at either end and a full kitchen and spacious living area in the center of the unit. A porch runs the entire length of the unit offering 180 degree beach views. The lower level has three one bedroom suites, each with a full kitchen and directly facing the ocean. Lay in your bed and look at the water! Each downstairs suite also has a comfortable futon that can be used to accommodate a family with 1 or 2 small children sharing a room. There is a covered porch off your room and beach chairs, bicycles and kayaks are available to use at no charge. (use at your own risk and parents MUST supervise children.) Please note that we do not permit friends or relatives staying at other properties to utilize our facilities or beach access without prior arrangements with the property manager. The property is managed by Lori and Vince, Nancy's brother and sister-in-law, so it is a family affair. They will meet you at the ferry and make sure your stay is an experience you won't forget. Your first visit will not be your last!

Beautiful & Relaxing
From before our group arrived Lori and Vince were wonderful about organizing our stay. Since we were going to arrive on a Sunday and that the grocery stores would be closed they suggested that we give them a grocery list so they could get some necessities. Glad we did! They lined up our ground transport at the airport as well as the ferry to get over to Spanish Wells. Everything went so smooth and they were at the dock to meet us when we arrived. Once we arrived at our house we were blown away with the views off of our back deck. Such a wonderful place that you can relax, kick up your feet and enjoy with friends/family. We will definitely be coming back again! Probably the only vacation that we all wanted to stay at longer and not go back home.

Just so you know, the photos of the views from the windows and balcony displayed on the rental website are NOT photoshopped or enhanced in any way. It really is that beautiful at Spanish Wells! If you are looking at a tourist-sparse tropical beach destination to relax and unwind, this is the place for you. Just don't tell a lot of people, because we want another week here!
The 2nd level of the house is where our family of four stayed during Christmas week. It is very spacious (has a loft) and includes all the amenities you would need to prepare meals and many toiletry items as well. The house is decorated in a very appealing beach-inspired way - loved the color scheme. There is a great notebook stocked with menus from local restaurants, info about fishing charters, and other information about Spanish Wells that was very helpful.
Lori and Vince are the property management team, and they definitely go above and beyond to make sure your vacation is exactly that - vacation. Lori is very quick to answer emails and questions. Due to the Christmas holiday, the stores were closed on our arrival date, but thankfully, Lori offered to shop our grocery list and it was all in place when we arrived. Don't worry about getting to the island. Vince and Lori coordinate your transfers from the airport via taxi and water taxi. It's so easy! We would definitely recommend renting a golf cart to get around the island. Very fun. Lori and Vince are eager to share local food with you. We got to try a conch marinated salad - yum.

Little piece f heaven
We have enjoyed three days (wish it was longer) here in Spanish Wells.
The “apartment” is absolutely wonderful. The location is perfect. There has been a bit of a storm with heavy winds and some rain. We have had a terrific vantage point from which to view.
The water is clear and shallow and safe. We have enjoyed using the kayaks and lounge chairs. Perfect for reading underneath a palm tree.
The kitchen is well stocked, there is plenty of room for the 5 of us. Beds are very comfortable. It is even better in real life than the pictures make it out to be. Decorated in a colourful Bahama Beach Cabin style. We love it.
You can get to the grocery store in under 2 minutes by buggy. A buggy is certainly not necessary tho unless you want to go exploring.
Lastly, the Propery managers- Vince and Lori have gone out of their way to make certain we are enjoying our time. They are friendly and available and have lots of tips about island tself, as well as surrounding Islands. They have really gone above and beyond for us. We are most grateful.

Just a few steps will take you from your spacious two bedroom/two bath apartment to a soft, brilliantly white sand beach and warm azure waters. The beach is never crowded as there are no hotels or busy resorts on the island. Visitors to Spanish Wells are drawn to the beach and water and many return year after year. There are several good restaurants with bars on the island and some will cook your fresh catch if you choose to go fishing. Fresh seafood is always on the menu. Sometimes on the weekend or holidays there is live music, but these are quaint, casual, smaller restaurants, some overlooking the water. Conveniently located within walking distance of grocery store, liquor store and restaurants and other amenities in the small community of Spanish Wells, Bahamas, however, we suggest renting a golf cart (buggy) for your stay which will enable you to explore all over the two mile long island as well as the adjoining 4-mile long Russell Island. Bicycles and kayaks are available with your rental.
Both bedrooms in your apartment have ensuite baths and there is additional sleeping on two daybeds off the living room (shown in pictures) and a sleeper sofa in the 2nd bedroom (see photos). We do limit the total number of guests to seven. A Pac 'n Play and high chair may be available for an infant, but please check first to confirm availability. Please note that this apartment is on the second floor and is accessed by stairs and is not handicapped accessible.
Spanish Wells is a charming, clean, safe community located just 50 miles from Nassau and one mile off the northern end of Eleuthera. It is accessed by air via the North Eleuthera airport (ELH) which is a short taxi and ferry ride from Spanish Wells ($15 p/p each way). ELH currently has daily flights from Fort Lauderdale on Silver Airways, Miami on American and some days Delta flys in direct from Atlanta. There are multiple flights daily from Nassau via Pineapple Air, Bahamas Air and Southern Air. You can also take the ferry BoHengy (check Bahamas Ferries website for schedule) to and from Nassau daily, but the ferry times necessitate an overnight stay in Nassau to connect with flights.
Spanish Wells is a prosperous island community that is the lobster fishing capital of the Bahamas. It has grown as a quiet tourist destination in recent years, appealing to visitors looking for a destination somewhat off the beaten path but easily accessible, safe and with modern conveniences.
