January 2011 at Isla Plana

  • 5 of 5

A modern house with all the required facilities. Our stay at Isla Plana was blessed with some wonderful weather - the locality is a great place to stay with many places to visit not too far away. Ideal for a get away from it all break early in the year.

A pleasant house in a wonderful area!

  • 4 of 5

I have been to stay at this holiday home in Isla Plana twice, once in May and then back again in October the next year. It was not only the perfect location which brought me back but also a nice clean house containing all the facilites we needed with friendly, uncomplicated and helpful owners. We enjoyed breakfast out on the terrasse or loved having a glass of wine on the upstairs balcony looking out at the fantastic sunsets over the sea.

The description says it as it is.....the house really is situated well which is the main criteria for us on holdays. I particularly enjoyed being able to walk the few steps to the pool in my towel for my morning and evening swim. Of course on holidays nothing beats the sea, so the few meters more to the beach were also a must. Fun times were spent either at the small bay with its rocks and swimming or fishing or the longer beautiful bay further up the road for swimming and beach side walks for as long as you would want. Joggers, cyclists, snorkelers, divers, and hikers will all find their fun here. We also spotted surfers and windsurfers on the waves on the more windy days in October.

There is nothing better than being able to stroll down the road for lunch, dinner or a few drinks directly at the beach in the good quality restaurants or the more basic but perfectly located social club. In the area there is a good mix of Spanish locals as well as holiday makers both Spanish and from abroad, it makes for a perfect holiday in Spain without the high rise holiday appartment blocks and rowdy gangs. Nevertheless, fun nights out can be had ( Halloween party in the social club or live music in the nearby restaurant for e.g.) but it does not disturb those prefering a more quiet holiday.

If staying for more than a week I would recommed hiring a car as there are great day trips around, whether up into the mountains or to other seaside towns and villages. It is worth mentioning that there are no grocery shops (apart from a small bakery with some items) within walking distance so a car makes that easier although the shops are not far away. The nearby Puerto de Mazarron is good for shopping and people watching at the harbour with the fancy yachts.

I have recommended this property to others, the comfortable house is so much better than staying in an appartment block and the prices are very attractive considering the beautiful area and proximity to further activities.

Review of holiday home in Isla Plana

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful holiday here. After travelling to so many parts of Spain we are thrilled to have found this area.

The house was clean, modern and well-equiped. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was great to have street parking directly outside, this is something we've had problems with in the past. It was also a real bonus having the communal pool so close. The boys were able to play nearby and make new friends there.

The location of the house was great. Its very close to the beach and village. Although the village is small its full of character, this is exactly what we were looking for. The beach is beautiful. We really enjoyed the social club. Its very authentic, has great views, and delicious tapas. We absolutely love the area. Its the 'real Spain' and is such a difference from many other areas we've stayed in.

For people looking for more action there is meant to be great diving in the area, there is plenty of hill or coastal walks and routes for cycling. We went on a few day trips, all quite close. There is no shortage of historic sites or scenic countryside. The village is also not far from a bigger town where we went shopping.

The owner responded promtly to all our queries prior to our trip. He was very helpful and a great source of information on the local area.

I plan to go back again myself as we all had a wonderful holiday and I have already recommended the house and area to friends.

Relaxing stay - Superb location

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed in this property with my partner and had a wonderful time. We are a young couple in our late twenties and wanted to get a feel for the real spain. The property itself is spotless, spacious and in a really good location. Less than a five minute walk to a beautiful beach and local bars and restaurants. There are fantastic sea views from the main bedroom and the property itself is just across the road from the shared swimming pool. This is a perfect place to explore this beautiful part of spain with its rugged coastline, sandy beaches and breathtaking scenery. We plan to return again next summer. Claire - Ireland

decepcionante

I have travelled and explored most of the Spanish costas and also inland over the years but I knew immediately the day I crossed the mountain range from Carthagena and first saw Isla Plana from the mountain viewpoint that this was the place for me. Here I had found Spain at its best, mountains, valleys, rugged almost secret baysand coves (some hard to find but lots of fun searching for them) and beaches of all shapes and sizes all the way from the historic navy port of Cartaghena to the beautiful town of Aguillas further along the Costa Calida. The whole area was heavily influenced by the Romans as can still be seen in all the towns from Isla Plana to Lorca and the capital itself, Murcia. This is not high rise Spain with frantic congested coast roads, here the speed of change is slower and more considered. There is something for everyone from food, culture, music all types of sport and magnificent scenery. For both the young and the not so young this will be a memorable trip.
